Good lord you cannot listen to that and not have your breath just completely taken away and believe that anything is possible I swear I cannot talk enough about this it’s just the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard in my life and I’ve been listening to it my entire life but I am blown away every time like it’s the first time I’m hearing it I love you Jeanette and Nelson my singing angels!

Your tributes to Mac and Eddy are fantastic. I love the movie Maytime and have seen it at least 15 times through teary eyes. I noticed Nelson Eddy's tears in the Czaritza scene. He loved her so much. Their life story is so sad. As sad as Maytime.
This is also my favorite of their duets. So much emotion and when you know what was going on in their private lives, it is so much more tragic. It makes me cry every time I hear it.

This was so beautiful. The singing, the photos of Jeanette and Nelson. I was raised on opera, classical music, show music, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Frank Sinatra, and Tommy Dorsey thanks to both my parents. I loved Maytime from my childhood. I wish there was a real Czaritza. The duet is a sad prelude for the rest of this movie. Thanks, Katie.

I love these guys, they are my favorites, I wish I could see them on TCM on direct TV. Be cause if I cannot have TCM I WILL NOT GET DIRECT TV. For those who were not aware of it, the instrumental music for the Czaritza duet is part of Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony. The studio adapted it for this film.

I know your tributes are all so wonderful and I love your music selections. They are quite a match to the scenes and photos.
Perhaps someday would it be possible to do another to the song "You Are The Reason"? I think that song would resonate quite well
with the younger generation of which I am not a part of. I am a Baby Boomer who grew up watching JM and NE films. My late Mom adored them and I grew to love them too. Thank you for all your tributes to them on You Tube. You are amazing!

What a tragedy. They both loved one another so much, but neither would compromise, so they lived their lives apart. That has to be heartbreaking. I think Nelson should have given in. How could he expect Jeanette to give up her career just because he did not want a working wife.
This marvelous piece is even better while looking at the translation to English while they sing. And remember, she had just had an abortion (probably Eddy’s child) and was going to marry someone else - in real life. There are tears on Eddy’s cheeks as he sings.

She did not have an abortion. She was pregnant 8 times (at least) and she lost them all. And they were all Nelson's.

Czarina: (to Petrov) Quickly defend yourself, or you will die!
Dubrovsky: (to Czarina) You hesitate? Sign in the name of the Czar!
Petrov: God has given the world liberty and honor.
Petrov: (to Czarina) To you I give my life, Oh, Queen of my dear country.
Czarina: You will surely die, dearly beloved.
Dubrovsky: Yes! this villain [dog] must die!

Czarina: (to everyone present) Leave us alone. I want to speak with him for a moment.
Dubrovsky: (horrified) Your Majesty!
