    My maple Gratz reformer, done in sand upholstery, is so zen. It speaks to me everyday😊 it's not tucked away, but rather where I see it daily. Had it been placed in a basement room, I could see how i would use it less frequently. Thank you for the tutorial!

    I’ve been on a few…the first one was a peak reformer and I had no other experience with reformers before so it was fine. When my teacher moved to the clinic her friends opened, she got a Balanced Body Clinical reformer. I’ve also been on a Stott, an Allegro and one at my friend’s house that I forgot what it was, but the clinical is my fave. I’m quite keen to try the contrology one…I should have tried it at Momentum Fest, but I didn’t know much about it then, and I’d like to try a Gratz to see how that feels too.

      There are contrology Reformers near you if you go to Noam's or to B Pilates. Of course it depends on the style of Pilates you enjoy doing or teaching as well.

    Would you elaborate on the foot board? Specifically, benefits for recovering from a spinal injury. Only available on the 86" or longer. Space is not an issue for the extra 6 inches.

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  5 месяцев назад

      Hey Penny, are you talking about the Jumpboard? I don't teach with that anymore. I prefer an 80" for those who are under 6 ft. You'll have more support from the straps and springs. ANd you can purchase a rebounder (tiny trampoline) and do low impact jumping.

    Any thoughts about the Frame Fitness Reformer? I know it’s pretty new and pricey!

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  5 месяцев назад

      hey Kim, so sadly that price is quite low for a Pilates Reformer. Most sturdy Reformers that will allow you to do a full practice are usually over $3500. However, this one isn't my favorite style of equipment. You'll have to make lots of adjustments to make it work for you. As I mentioned in my Reformer video you want handles not loops. It will help you strengthen your upper back and get you out of your wrists or shoulders. The footbar is also not ideal. You want one that is at an angle that will allow you to get into your glutes and out of your hip flexors. And lastly the footbar is so think it will effect you getting out of your wrists. I prefer Balanced Body's Contrology and then if you can't do that some of their other equipment like the Studio Reformer or Centerline are ones we can help you get more out of the equipment. xx~LL

    Hi Lesley. Great video! Based on you, I'm leaning towards purchasing a Contrology reformer (I learned on and for many years owned a classic Studio reformer from BB.) My only concern on the contrology is that it looks like there isn't a place to stand above the springs. The studio reformer seems to have a wider "ledge" which I use for some of my standing exercises. Thoughts?

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  5 месяцев назад

      Hey @lindaotoole1, you can absolutely stand on the edge of the frame. I do it for side splits and when i do the split boxing etc. Its the same as how Joseph Pilates old Reformers did it too. I wear sticky socks but you could use those sticky sheets no problem. You can see me doing it on my contrology in my free tutorials on side splits etc. ALso, def use my discount link. If it doesn't work hit me up with your email (can use IG for that i'm @Lesley.logan) and I'll connect you to my sales person xx~LL

      @@OnlinePilatesClasses Thank you so much for your reply. One more question: From BB site, "For a $75 upgrade, we pre-drill your Reformer and add TwistLock removable shoulder rests." Is it a good idea to have removable shoulder rests?

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  4 месяца назад

      @@lindaotoole1 so if you want to ever add the tower option you will need the shoulder rests to remove. If you don't want to add the tower option then don't get that option. They will eventually do a wall unit tower option so you can have a separate tower. Which is my favorite. However, I've worked on ones that are pre-drilled with the tower and pre-drilled no tower and the shoulder blocks if locked correctly are fine.

    What is your view on a folding reformer.

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  5 месяцев назад

      I wouldn't personally use it. I'm sure several exercises wouldn't be accessible. And I'd worry about the weight restrictions. Plus likely super low to the floor making it harder to use and eliminating exercises.

      @OnlinePilatesClasses  8 месяцев назад

      Hey Lisa, I've not used it so can't really speak to it. However, the angle of the footbar isn't my favorite. And I'd see if you can use it for other Pilates platforms than theirs. I don't like to talk negatively around something I haven't tried so that is the best feedback I can give ya. My fav's are the ones I chatted about on here. So hope that helps xx~LL

    Hello, what is your thoughts on Faittd Pilates Reformer?

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  3 месяца назад

      unfortunately Nicole, I don't love it. For several reasons. 1) rope are set at higher level. That is going to put a lot of the work in your shoulders and not your center. 2) loops instead of handles with a loop option. This is going to strain your wrists, and likely not help you connect to your upper back muscles 3) footbar is too high putting a lot of the work in your quads and not your hamstrings. If you're looking for an affordable piece of Pilates equipment check out getting a Spine Corrector and/or Wunda chair :) xx~LL

    I'm 6 feet tall and was considering buying a pre-owned Stott/Merrithew SPX reformer - is this a good fit for my height? Any notable limitations that may help inform my decision?

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  5 месяцев назад +2

      So height wise you’re fine. However, I’m not a huge fan of the strap/footbar set up. The strap isn’t in an ideal place to help you with your short box series and that can cause you to use your hip flexors or back. And because of your height might not be ideal. If you can get an 86” contrology, Studio reformer or another classical brand you’ll have the most supportive springs on a contrology.

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  Год назад

      Hey Donald, so I have had clients who have this one. Because its on the floor you do lose access to Rowing 2, Pull Straps 1 and 2, and a few other exercises. Its still a great quality Reformer. But the footbar doesn't have different angle so that can change some things. We have OPC members who have this one. And they will do Kneeling versions of the Pull straps or skip Rowing 2 and replace it with something else. Do you have someone you're taking Pilates with in person or online? The style of Pilates you do may determine limitations. Make sure you order with the box! And feel free to use my link in the description to save a bit of money if you decide to buy it xx

      @@OnlinePilatesClasses I don’t know your opinion but I’ve just been doing the Pilates mat work that is offered by Apple Fitness+ 4 or 5 days a week. I would consider adding your OPC videos if I was to get one to add variety to mat work

    • @OnlinePilatesClasses
      @OnlinePilatesClasses  Год назад

      cool! So we work a bit differently than Apple or other streaming platforms. Every Tuesday we drop a new 30 min Mat (and if you have access to a Reformer 30 min Reformer) class. We take the old one away and you can take the new one as many times as you want before it expires and a new one drops. This way you can compare yourself to yourself. You also become your own teacher as you start to understand the method more. Every month we film the 50 min Mat live and you can come to that and stay for the q&a hang after. Then you have the entire month to take that class as often as you want. We also allow you to send in a video of you doing an exercise and we give you feedback on where you can connect more. You can pick the Mat only membership if you only have access to a Mat. You can trial us out if you want at onlinepilatesclasses.com/youtube but feel free to ask me more questions xx
