I have the WW SRC and I love it. It’s a tack driver. Chrome lined 4150 chrome moly V steel barrel. Forged 7075 T6 aluminum upper/lower. Bolt made of carpenter 158 steel. Spits out any ammo I put in it. Probably the tightest fitting upper and lower I have. That’s good stuff for an $850 rifle.
Yeah, that seems to be consistent with many reports I've seen on these rifles. Windham Weaponry appears to be a brand that flies under the radar but just puts out good products. No super fancy or flashy social media advertising, just consistent quality at a fair price.
What’s important is that the front sight base is matched to detachable carry handle sight in height above bore at initial setting for proper sight-in to get a bullet drop compensation function from the rear sight. Windham’s typically have a commercial height detachable carry handle sight and an A2 height front sight base but I do no know about recent production. For sure, if you at sometime in future drop the carry handle sight for a MaTech and find the rifle shoots too high then you do not have an F height front sight base.
Belated congratulations on the birth of your son. I am also a fan of 20" barrels. M193 shines through a 20" barrel. Windham supplied most parts of my A3/A4 build. I still need to finish my match rifle that contains Windham parts.
I have a couple of their MPC's (R16M4A4T) and they are built pretty well. Fit and finish as well as choice of materials used don't leave much to complain about or improve on in a factory rifle. I'll be holding on to mine in light of their recent closure, sad days ahead for American manufacturing companies I'm afraid............
I agree with you. I hate Colt for voluntarily differentiating between "civilian" and "government" rifles. Rifle makers should make their "civilian" rifles as close to the real thing as the law allows. That being said, the government has no valid constitutional authority to allow or disallow citizens to own any type of rifle they choose to own. Someone should explain to those Fudds at Colt that our founding fathers intended for "we the people" to own the exact same rifles as the government issues to the military. By the way, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to tax a right - NFA 1934 and that it is unconstitutional to ban a whole class of arms - GCA 1986.
Ive shot about 200rds consistently out of the exact rifle. It gets HOT, definitely want to get a forward grip. I hope I can find one that attaches to the polymer heat shield but have doubts I will, as the holes dont look like attachment points but idk.
I have a 20" PSA FN chrome lined upper on a Windham lower with Knights Armament rail and a complete PSA 20" nitride upper & lower. I believe the carry handle is FN but that is a rumor. They have different triggers, and the FN model has a 1-6 optic. Hard to do a direct comparison. I can see where open sights has it's advantage but magnified optics for any distance wins out. Love the 20" platform.
Wanted my first 20 inch AR. Went with Colt AR15 A4. It gets to my FFL on Friday. Thought the Windham Weaponry would probably be a nicer rifle, but I went with the Colt for the sexy prancing pony and true blue "AR-15 A4" markings. What do you think since you have both? Did I make the right choice? Congrats on your new family btw.
You’ll be fine with either more than likely. I personally went with windham just because I saw nothing really negative about them. In all reality they’re probably very similar.
@@MountainMan-sc8xj I got the AR-15A4. It's really nice other than that it seems overgassed to me. It cycles a lot harder than my other ARs. One of the reasons I bought it was that rifle length gas is supposed to be really smooth. My PSA midlength and my BCM midlength are way smoother and softer shooting. The AR-15A4 feels about the same as a carbine length gas. Honestly I'm kind of pissed off about it.
I have both as well. They are almost identical. Colt has an ambidextrous safety. I got the Windham first, and I, too, love the A4. I had to have the pony also, though. Both rifles got the KAC rail and Matech. An ACOG is going on the Colt, leaving the carry handle on the WW for now. WW is chrome lined. I prefer the markings on the Colt, and they are a military contractor

Have a Windham and a Rock River Arms 👍🏻👍🏻

Just bought a mid length version, love it. This one is on my list plus their heavy barrel M4 version. Side note, it is chromed lined barrel.
