Great video, my question is if it is known that topical anti-androgens (including finasteride) do not enter the bloodstream and stay effective where applied locally ?
First, Finasteride is not a anti androgen at all, it is a enzyme inhibitor, so totally different from AA. Topical Finasteride will go systemical in a certain way. I did blood work with 0.1 and in 4 weeks, DHT in blood went down about the same level as with oral 1mg.
Thank you for this very in depth analysis on topicals, I know you quickly disregarded RU-58841 due to it's lack of data. There is however very concerning clinical data on Nilutamide and this compound is chemically extremely similar to Ru-58841. As 1 percent of the participants would develop interstitial pneumonitis. This being said, the effective dosage as well as the half-life of RU is significantly lower than Nulitamide so it would most probably be a lot safer than Nulitamide for that reason alone. I know it is still two different compounds, but what would your expert opinion be on the possibility/probability of Ru-58841 having similar side effects to Nulitamide (interstitial pneumonitis). I just started Ru-558841 myself at a low dosage and experience no side effects, but I would not want to find out either. Not asking for medical advice just for an expert opinion for perspective :)

Hey just wanted to ask you something I came across have you ever heard of a side effect of derma rolling being fibrosis? I just got back into micro-needling but upon hearing of this being a potential side effect I'm now worried
There is some remedies using estrogen pills from contraceptives and also blood pressure medication being crushed and added to oil to use a topical in Mexico. Idk how good this works but I heard people recommending this at pharmacies in Mexico. My mom said it worked for her but then again she’s a woman. As a man we might get estrogen issues. 🤔
How can we be sure these anti-androgens aren't blocking androgen activity in other parts of the body such as the brain? Finasteride definitely is a poor localized agent because even when it's applied topically, the molecular weight ensures that it penetrates past the skin on the scalp. I'm a female, but I'm still worried about limiting my androgen leveles systematically due to the cognition benefits of androgens. Finasteride additionally has shown to reduce neurogenesis and influences the level of mutiple neurosteroids including pregnenolone, which is also vital for cognition.
I’m in the same boat. How do you treat your hair? I’m waiting for an appointment with a derm, but I’m sure what diagnosis I have (aga). I don’t want to take anything systemic because I’m afraid of side effects and one day I would like to have kids. I’m going to use minox, but I don’t know which antiandrogen to choose.
By now you being a health care professional should know that dht is not the root it is just the effect of the cause, this last being prostaglandin imbalance aming good and dab ones.
Do you think Alfatradiol is safe to use? Since It did actually stop my hairloss. I did not shedd any hairs when I used it (3 motnhs). The only thing I noticed from it was a bit soarness/tenderness in chest/nipples, should I stop? thank you
Not enough clinical studies to recommend as a pharmacist. The most recent one I could find in men is from 1980. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7398983/ Alfatradiol is very similar to regular estradiol in structure. Supposedly it has 100 times less estrogenic activity (it binds to and activates estrogen receptors alpha and beta to a lesser degree which would result in less feminizing effects). onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ddr.20244 My question would be does alfatradiol go systemic after application to scalp? We know that regular estradiol passes through skin very easily, women can apply 0.5-1 mg of an estrogen gel and have good systemic effects. Looks like the normal dose of alfatradiol is 0.25 mg applied to the scalp. I would speculate that a clinically significant amount of alfatradiol would enter into the bloodstream. What effects this would have on a man I really cant say. As for your situation, I would stop using it and talk to a doctor. Alfatradiol could possibly be causing gyno and getting surgery on that if it continues to develop is not worth it in my opinion. Granted, if you are also using fin/dut or some other topical antiandrogen, those could also be contributing factors. Hope this helps, all the best!
@@isaacwadepharmd3969 Thank you for your reply :) Ok, maybe I should not use alfatradiol, safety in the long run is more imortant for me, since Im 28.
