Pancakes and sausage is a weird combo I agree! Lol I've seen Americans having pancakes, bacon and maple syrup (which also seems wrong) but I'm a believer in "don't knock/ mock it until you tried it" (whatever the saying is)!!
In American we have the mcgriddle which is like a pancake sandwich with sausauge and/or bacon, egg inside, but the pancake is infused with maple syrup flavor. It's nice when you're hungover or high lol, I also like the hot and spicy mcchicken biscuit with honey mmmm sweet and savory
Glad someone else agrees that fizzy drinks and alcohol all have that burny scratchy feeling, the only drink I enjoy is coke because of the taste of it! 😂 we can be freaks together 🤍🤍
*If you let the drink go flat it doesn't burn or itch. Pour it and leave it awhile or (gingerly) shake it till it stops bubbling up. Granted, there's no point forcing yourself to drink it, but if you find yourself in that position.... Also, about the 4th sip, it stops feeling buzzy. And caffeine makes it feel more "chunky," so Fanta is easier on the throat.
Does McDonalds in England have McGriddles? It’s literally a breakfast sandwich made with 2 pancake “buns” (with syrup crystals in them so you don’t need liquid syrup) and a sausage patty in the middle! Pancakes, sausage and syrup go together perfectly! It was funny to me to see how confused you were by it lol
I am with you on the fizzy drinks and alcohol! Never had fizzy drinks until I was 6, we were in a pub garden, I took a big gulp of what I thought was orange juice and it was Fanta. I spat it into the grass! I can just about cope with ginger beer, but everything else is no go. Five Guys do non-fizzy Fanta in loads of different flavours, the raspberry is delicious!

I like it! They should have given you some butter packets to go with the pancakes!
In the southern US (and everywhere else that BBQ is done properly,) you get a piece of bread or two with your meal. It's used to soak up leftover sauce and juices. Think of the McDonald's pancakes in that way. Cut the sausage patty in half and roll a pancake around each half. Dump the syrup and butter in a puddle on the bottom of the plate and dip your little sausage sandwiches in it. Use the last pancake to soak up leftover syrup. You need two hands because it's suicide to put the potato fry down unattended. That sucker will be stolen so quickly the sound of it's passage will leave a sonic boom.
