@bai very useful tutorial. I have questions please. Why does Reaper create an icon that is green wave shape on the desktop straight away after any input? Can we delete this icon or do we keep it? Also how to update Reaper . Many thanks
I have used Logic Pro for over a decade, but was always intrigued by Reaper. This video helped me understand the basics of Reaper in under 15 minutes in a fantastic way. A huge time saver. Thank you for making this!
I just downloaded Reaper and I was quite overwhelmed at first since I’ve been using garage band for years. This tutorial was so straightforward and simple without any confusing or unnecessary comments and inputs like a lot of other tutorials. I can now confidently say I understand how Reaper works! Thank you!! :)
thank you so much for this truly for beginners video!! i've been searching around for absolute beginner tutorials but every single one of them but this one uses third party plugins or other third party software to demonstrate which is frustrating and confusing for someone who just wants to learn how to use the base DAW. y'all are lifesavers♥
So helpful! I've been looking for an alternative to master my voiceover projects, and this was exactly the guide to get me up and running fast. Thank you!!
This was helpful, thanks for this guide, I'll be looking more into Reaper. One of the things I like in this tutorial is that not only that it's not too long but also has a timelamps that you can go back into which is helpful.
Thanks a lot. I was just looking for the shift thing you mention in 4:34 and even though im very grateful, I have to say your whole tutorial is very useful
That's a really nice tutorial ! But I would appreciate if you'd explain more what plugins are, and each settings in each window. I know this would probably take a lot of time but it would be much clearer...
One question, I want to record guitar from my amp modeler, which has audio interface function as well. It works fine, but if I try to record my guitar with a drum pattern from the drum computer included in the modeler, the drums don't show in the recording or input indicator of reaper, even though they appear in the output indicator of the modeler. Looked around in the settings, but couldn't find any solution.
that was hilarious! thanks for starting my day off right. when I first heard the voice, I checked my clock speed on my interface because I was SURE there was a speed mismatch!
As far as I could see from the tutorial, it's quite similar to FL Studio (the old Fruity Loops). How does it compare to it in terms of features and compatiblity / stability?
It's one of the most feature rich daws on the market, you can even add community made scripts to add functionality and features that Reaper doesn't have. When it comes to stability, Reaper is probably most rock solid DAW build with most efficient code possible, takes less space than most sample packs and if there's a bug, there will be a fix within few days.
Trim is to modulate the given parameter of the track it belong on the timeline on the moment you choose to modulate, you could do it on the track as shown, on a bus, master track, or whatever you want.
Brilliant video! But I need help in something else, which I couldn't find in here. I have installed a few virtual instruments, out of which the Independence (MAGIX), Kontact Kontrol and Kontact 7 (Kontact) these ones are not making any sound through my virtual MIDI keyboard. They are receiving the input I believe, because whenever I press a key a yellow bar lights up. But the red bar doesn't light up, which does when the sound is produced. Any help would be greatly appreciated
It is not a problem of your plugins but on how these sources are connected. You have either muted any chain or not send the source to the channels properly. We suggest to perform a good review on your project environment.
I need help with using the plugins. Every time I try to use the plugin it won't work, the recording duplicates in sound and won't even play the plugin I enabled. Very frustrating to use
Q: After I render a track as an mp3 and I clean it up post-production, I still hear this subtle hiss or static sound throughout the song and am wondering where in Reaper I would go specifically to remove a very subtle hiss sound? This is music I made is through a daw and midi-controller. No vocals or anything on this. Any help or ideas would be great.
Post production has to made before you render to mp3, if you want to do post production ; export in Wav or any losseless format, once you finished processing the file, you can then export it in MP3 but if you want decent quality file choose MP3 320kbps constant bitrate, other than that the quality is seriously reduced.
Hello, in the recording I made in Reaper, there is no fullness in the sound, it seems like the bass is weak, I get a weak output when I compare it with any song, for example, the guitars are very weak, I am not talking about stereo, the sound is good, but it is obvious that the tone is not as bassy, what should I do about this?
Confusing for me. I find the sequence of instruction jumps all over the place. Gentle pace until you click on something and then it is very fast and difficult to see where to click. Glad it's helpful for others.
@@bai There is a pause/play button Joan, if it was on a more gentle pace the video would be 1 hour long and nobody would watch it so it woudn't be helpful.
If only they would add the simple basic option of selecting 'Audio Track' from the track menu, like found on Ableton and Logic and others, then simply select your input channel coming in from your audio interface. Until it has this basic standard but extremely important feature then its a no from me. Its fine for VST but not for outboard hardware or live recording input from external hardware.
I am not able to hear my tracks or whenever I play my instrument when its hooked up to the track. How come? I'm using my default speakers like in the video, and even tried my computer speakers but I cant hear anything.
I am yet to get my first daw and pushing towards Reaper, how is this Daw for beginners compared to Ableton. Also wanted to find out what the best Midi controller is for this Daw? Probably a 49 key one, Thanks
Ableton is more focus on live, beatmaking, midi, mixing, modular while Reaper is a engineering paradise (so much things to tweak+script+options everywhere etc) Ableton is far better for making music with midi controller no doubt. On the others hand if you are a customizing freak go for Reaper. The names say it all, Able of Tons, in live, and Reaper where you can Rip everything.
Hello!. For me this program is very complicated and I don't understand how to use it! Can you please help me step by step how to slow down a youtube video without altering its range? Also, how do I do this without setting the speaker, microphone, etc. (I don't understand and I don't know what these settings mean)? Thank you!

Yes, absolutely amazing -so much in so little time, but not rushed.

i dont know if the narator is an ai or not, but damn, what a voice.
Litterly i was also thinking about that
No AI voice.
Thank you for this. I have an assignment in my college course where I have to use this and it was very confusing to me at first.

I really love this tutorial! I just bought a MIDI controller, and had been trying to decide on my DAW of choice. This video really helped!❤

I also think it shouldn't take more than 13 minutes to understand the basics of a DAW, so I think I'll give the Reaper a shot
Great, helped a lot, thanks!
AMAZING TUTORIAL!!! I absolutely hated this program, but this reaaaaaally helped
Glad it helped you!!
I'm suck at inserting MIDI so i here i'm. It's easy to understand 👍

Many thanks.
Thank you too!
Great video! Thank you!

Cool video, thank you!

What microphone are you using?
I'm a little confused about trim. Does it allow you to add an fx to a certain part of the track without adding it to the entire track?
Yes please answer this question!
Trim is to modulate the given parameter of the track it belong on the timeline on the moment you choose to modulate, you could do it on the track as shown, on a bus, master track, or whatever you want.

Excellent, clear and complete, is there something similar about ReaPlugs suite for Reaper?
Please make a Video how to audio quantize in reaper when you double or triple guitar Riffs. I find nothing in Web..
And it was developed by the same guy of Winamp (Nullsoft) :)
Thank you

I have found that sometimes the interface needs to be unplugged and plugged back in if Reaper fails to recognize it after setting up the preferences.

The ReaFIR plugin can do that. Search "ReaFIR noise reduction" on YT.

Hi there, where did you import the video from, your video files on your PC, or video files in Reaper that have been imported from the PC.?
What computer narration program is that? It's awesome! I mean, if you forget that it's reminiscent of the Dukes of Hazzard.
