Its probably a syncronized gearbox since he doesn't double clutch, but even with a syncronized gearbox it's sometimes useful to rev in between the shifts, while the gears grab easier. Shifting a truck gearbox is quite different in comparison to a car gearbox, since the syncronisation takes more time, and when the synromesh rings are worn in an older gearbox it can be quite useful to rev in between up and down shifts

European trucks come with synchronized gearboxes more expensive to maintain but easier to shift

Every time, the gear is up shifted, the accelerator pedal is slightly pressed (rev matching). Is it necessary for up-shift?

Not really. If you don't blip the throttle, the rpm is always gonna be too low when you release the clutch.
