    I’m so glad I watched this video again! I always learn something from these. Lord I was having so much trouble wicking one of my biggest jars. It was around the same size. I hate eco wicks so I didn’t even try. I tested htp, and premiers and I wanted to cry by the end. So thank you for saying it is hard to wick 6006 in the larger jars! I thought I was just going nuts! I make my own vessels and so it’s even harder to find info out there or a good starting point even because concrete doesn’t conduct heat like glass and so it changes up a lot

    Wade, I just want to say I love all your videos. I have been making candles since 2015 (had to take 2 years off due to illness and just getting back in it). I recently discovered your channel and enjoy that your content is well presented with reliable information based on safe candlemaking practices (you really know your stuff). I also appreciate all the great business tips (like logos, inventory control, etc) for new and experienced makers. Thanks and I look forward to more content from you in the future! Enjoy your week.

    Great vid as usual Wade but I don't recall you explaining what the scrub was. By any chance, was it a scented melting scrub?

      I'm not sure actually. I think like a salt scrub. Not entirely sure

    Hey wade, binge watching your videos. Talking about greasy feeling of the wax. My candles have a greasy feeling when they cure, is that normal?

    You did not mention the gold in the Three Wise Men Candle. Was that salt with mica? How did it effect the burn?

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 года назад

      I mentioned just that there appeared to be little mica wax flakes or tiny embeds. Didn't impact the burn at all though so didn't elaborate beyond that. And the letters didn't specify exactly what they were so could only speculate. :)

    If the ceramic vessel is the Nordic vessel from CS, the only wick I got to work well was the zinc series wicks. They were very frustrating to wick and the reviews are low on that vessel because of it

      Yah, that diameter is tough. Especially with viscous waxes like 6006

    Wade , I love your videos , they help so much , thank you . I wonder if you can help I’m struggling to get a good hot throw . I’m using coconut wax 90 percent and 10 percent para wax . Can you be a wonderful person and help me out . What is best temp to melt to? And best temp to add fragrance and then pour temp ? I can’t find any videos with this recipe . I can not get a good hot throw at all .

      There are a lot of factors to consider but here are some general things. Most coconut waxes lie high Temps. Around 200° F. Where are your fragrance oils from? Quality oils will help. With coconut based waxes, around 10% is common. And of course solid wicking and a descent size jar. Lastly... have others test them as well. We get nose blind to our own scents a lot.

    I am confused about the "Pennys from Heaven" candle which I really like. The maker states that it is 100% virgin coconut wax from the Wooden Wick Co (Makesy). Maksey doesn't carry pure 100% coconut wax. They have their proprietary coconut/soy blend. Is this what the maker is referring to as 100% virgin coconut wax?

      I'm not sure. But suppliers also often change products they sell. This review was a while back so that not be it as well

      Try Premier 700 wicks. I sell them here if you want to try them. I would try sizes within this range and then adjust if needed Premier 745-760 : blacktiebarn.com/collections/wicks

    Great candle review Wade Thomas!!! Velde Mas has beautiful products. He placed a lot of hard work into them!!! The jars I have decided on are the 8oz. apothecary jars. I used a combo of 6006/454 wax and had to double wick this jar with 2 eco2. First of all, the wax settled lopsided. When I started my burn test I noticed that one wick burned itself out. While, the second wick burns well but there is no big meltpool even after a couple of hours of burning. The ht isnt great either. I want to wick up one and place the jar on a more sturdy foundation. The fo% was 9%. Can you please give me your thoughts about improvement? I wish I looked at this review last week. Still, you have given great info!!! Thank you!!!
