Funny how this song is so different for them back then. Its feels more in line with Councel of wolfs and snakes of the latest album. Its also incredibly different from Sorgens Kammer (del 1).

this track has been my favorite Dimmu Borgir song for the first couple of years i have listen to them back in day. still love it today. but i guess Mourning Palace has been my favorite after that and ever since. they have many great other songs like hybrid stigmata, it would round up my top 3.

I really hope someday you two will experience "The Insight and the Catharsis" by Dimmu Borgir (studio, not live). One of their top 3 songs without a doubt. It takes you to another world if you close your eyes and lose yourself, especially towards the end. Majestic clean vocals by Vortex. One of the other comments has 15 thumbs-up asking as well. You can trust us!

Nice reaction. To see the darker side of Shagrath's vocals in the early days of Dimmu, try something from the Live in Poland 1998. Maybe go with Mourning Palace, Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen or Stormblåst. The quality is not that good, but it adds to the mighty older black metal feeling :D I love Shagrats's vocals on that show, it is just demonic!

Lol I had a feeling this one would be a hard sell for Chels. I've always called Shagrath's goblin voice his Popeye voice. It is wickedly good when it is mixed with his other voices and placed appropriately. Not so much when it is the only voice he uses.

But then the original guitarist Somnium had to be a true troll and fall off a bridge and die and at the same time Katla got a tumor on his vocal cords and had to resign from vocals. So unfortunately finntroll has never been the same. With that said other then the Nattfödd album I still like all of it. But Midnattens widunder and jaktens tid are absolute masterpieces.

I'm super late to this and Chels may see BM vocals differently now, but as I watched I smiled because I used to hate these kind of vocals too, I even called them "goblin vocals" just like Chels.
But you can acquire the taste, I did! I mostly listen to this kind of stuff now! 😂 Dimmu was my gateway band into black metal as well, and they're still my favourite. I love this track, and it's one of my favourite videos of theirs too. To me, the latex peely skin looks too fake to be gross 😂
