    The guitarist has beautiful finger positioning. I enjoyed this song.

    I would describe Dimmu Borgir’s style of black metal as ornate. They do incorporate symphonic elements and complex musical aspects. One of the furthest things at all from a garage band. They were a part of the early ‘90s Norway black metal scene, which was extreme without a doubt. There were countless church arsons, multiple murders, and at least one su!c!de. Though their lead vocalist has said in print that he himself was never part of the criminal activities. Still, some who may bemoan their high production values, or decry them as not harsh enough, should listen to the top pop singles at any given time. If you want truly weak music you’ll find it there.

    Good old Dimmu Times.... can't stand them nowadays. This song tells a story not only with the lyrics; therefore, it's not a normal structured song, and there are many tempo changes like in many of the other Dimmu songs too. But i like your reaction.
    Never heard of a stolen "cheap" Bass ;).. sorry...

    Good song for the reasons you explained.
    I find songs by Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth etc, must be great to hear live but I would only want to watch and listen for a half hour set. After that I would be too depressed! 😀
    I found this song didn't feel like eight minutes, even with your pauses.

    I really wonder why the requester wanted this version. Dimmu Borgir played this at Wacken 2012. And at that show they brought a full orchestra and a choir with them on stage. And much better quality both audio and video.
    (The show with orchestra and choir you've reacted to is from Oslo, Norway).

      not really a song that needs an orchestra lol. i wonder why this is the only version ever reacted to on youtube in general. why doesn't anyone react to the album version?? i understand why on some songs, but this song in particular doesn't really have a superior live version IMHO. don't get me wrong, the live versions out there are great, but they do not even compare to the album version. their Wacken performances are phenomenal, don't want to dismiss that lol.

      Because this one got Vortex singing the clean part!! And a whole damn choir can't replace that dude. After Mustis and Vortex left they went downhill really hard. A few months ago they played a song together again at a festival in Norway with Tjodalv on drums and it was awesome. Somewhere there is a little hope that they come back again and start making albums again in the style of the Puritanical Euphoric Misantrophia album because after that it went to shit really hard, more like diarrhea.

      If people are going to react to a live version of this song, it should be the 07 wacken version.

    This song I always refer to the amusement park song.
    I saw them live around 2006 , and it was good/ok. But I really would like to see them live with the symphony orchestra and choir.

    Thanks for your reaction David. A beautiful song but probably as a first listen I would have recommended the studio version

    The studio version has a lot better drumming . This drummer - Tony Laureno - is a bit too fast and more primitive with his fills , and for this also a little bit ruins the performance . But overall - I always like their live versions no matter what shoe they use to record . Especially the videos with this bass player - Ics Vortex - who also happens to be the vocalist for Borknagar and Arcturus .

    If i listen to a Symphonic Black Metal Band, i want 100% Black Metal Screamo, maybe some Death Metal growls but 0% clean singing. 🤣

    • @takisnotdead
      @takisnotdead 5 месяцев назад +2

      Man, don't call it screamo. Putting Norwegian metal under the same umbrella as like, some Black Veil Brides or whatever, it's just rude.
