no disrespect but I think that's peobably the only song I like by Dimmu Borgir. Most of their songs I have a hard time taking seriously but I chock that up to having an elitist BM hubs who has teased me relentlessly about my addiction to 2nd nd 3rd wave black metal in addition to my addiction to nightwish whilst maintaining a deep seeded love for Burzum and Mayhem etc. I'm such a odd duck. I never fit in anywhere hahaha
Dimmu Borgir gives me the same reaction every single time. Goosebumps and loosing myself in the music. I love both classical and heavy metal music. The first time I heard them my whole world was opened up to a whole new experience.
Kel's face at Mourning pallace 👏🥰😍❤... exactly my face back in 1998, when I was thrown into that Song for the First time. And still today mourning pallace remains one of my favorites ever. Thanks for your reaction ❤🥰 Another great one fromt that record ( enthrone darkness triumphant) would be 'In Death's embrace' , and from later on that long lists of songs by dimmu borgir 'reptile'.
that show at Wacken was the first time I've seen them live. and until today it is one of my top overall live experiences. that show was sooooo beautiful
Oh ! amazing Dimmu Borgir, nice step into symphonic black metal. Sadly, the first time i was introduced to this band, i wasnt ready for black metal at all, so i never followed them closely. My entry into black metal was through the atmospheric side. Specifically with :) #painintheask Summoning - The passing of the grey company
Summoning is one of the few bands I could listen to for hours and still enjoy their music even if I'm very tired or had a bad day at work, especialy Old Mornings Dawn album it's an absolut masterpiece. \m/
The first song is from a concert in Oslo in 2011, and was the first they did with live orcestra and choir. The whole concert was on youtube, but i think it`s removed. You still can find more songs. The orchestra is the norwegian national broad caster own in house orchestra, and the concert has been on tv a couple of times. Since the orchestra is public funded they have a slogan "to build bridges betwen musical geners and generations". There was also a behind the scene clip that Kel would love, wher the band and orchestra talkt abaot the project and how a orchestra should be used more for this type of music.
just got into dimmu recently. No regrets. Fucking get chills when the vocalists combine in gateways. And the orchestra and the guitars and drums! MINDGASM dont even know how to express myself.
Dimmu Borgir (/ˌdɪmuː ˈbɔːrɡɪər/) is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1993. The name is derived from Dimmuborgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, the name of which means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse.
Hi! I'm from germany! Yes the 2nd Song was at Wacken 🤘 and i think all could see the moment when the sound catch you! I hope you got the luck to see them live!🤘
I've watched this video dozens of times and everything is in sync and perfect to a fine tune. I noticed that in your video. Strange...Anyway I love your reaction. I love this band as well. These guys are better live than on CD. They know what they are doing with the orchestra and choir and it works. Very beautiful! A+++++
I was at that show in wacken! it was fucking amazing. Funny part was in the beginning of the concert. The curtain that was hiding the stage fell down and landed right on the singer Shagrath so he had to get out before he could start singing
Absolutely amazing, Dimmu are totally amazing. A brilliant choice of songs. Great reaction especially from kel. She is slowly but surely all the gold at the end of the metal rainbow. Love you guys. #Keep it real 🤘🤘
I think Kel would lose her damn mind for "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" by these guys. That song has some truly epic orchestration. I would recommend the Forces of the Northen Night live performance. Dooo it!!!
They did two shows with live orchestra and choir. One in Oslo and one at Wacken. So the DVD Northern Forces is about those two shows. The second video was indeed off but hey, it was amazing. Incidentally, I was at the Oslo show with my wife :)
The first song is a later one and originally built around an orchestra, which is why it works so well here. The second song is and older one and they had more limited budget when it was composed and recorded, so it's an later adaptation to full orchestra.
I remember how someone told me about dimmu borgir, and me going to the Dynamo open air festival where they played. Even before their show i bought shirts and albums and i loved the show. Ever since this is my favorite band, every album grows on you more and more because every time its different but so good. Awesome reaction.
Welcome to the symphonic darkside! I started my extreme metal journey with these guys along with Emperor.... Very good bands! Please check out Emperor - Ye Entrancemperium. #painintheask
I love this reaction! It was genuine and you can clearly see you guys love DM. It's refreshing to see new people getting into symphonic black metal. At home I'm the metal head and there's no way I can get my husband into Dimmu Borgir. A few years ago I did manage to turn him into a fan of Iron Maiden and Rammstein and we even went to see them live but it seems Dimmu Borgir is a bit too much for him lol. In case you don't have it, give yourselves a present and buy the Forces Of The Northern Light dvd or blueray. It includes the Oslo concert and the one of Wacken. It's a treat! Greetings from Germany :) Btw, how about reacting to Tristania or Therion next??
Forces of the Northern Night is a "dual-issue" live DVD - one half is from an indoor concert in Oslo Spektrum, the other half is outdoors from Wacken Open Air. Gateways (the first song) is from the Oslo concert, Mourning Palace (the second song) is from Wacken. Check this page at their label's HQ to confirm it :) www.nuclearblast.de/en/products/tontraeger/dvd-bluray/earbook/dimmu-borgir-forces-of-the-northern-night-earbook.html
I loved this video! :) Kel especially looked like she was deeply feeling the songs, that's awesome. I highly recommend their songs "Indoctrination" and "Hybrid Stigmata", the audio from the album (not live).
Dimmu still is my favorite band. Every album they make evolves into something different. For me Enthrone Darkness Triumphant was my start into metal, and still my favorite album.
Seeing how much you loved Dimmu, I hope some day you can follow up on Ancient Bards - Impious Dystopia, think of it as a warm up to Game of Thrones :)), choirs & orchestras and fantasy lore ^^
Not my cup of tea but I’m very happy that you are open to many things. I’m a 54 year old metal head and I’m discovering new bands every day because of the 2 of you.
Wacken is a small Town (Population: 1840 People) near Hamburg/Germany, the Metal Open Air exist since 1990, mostly in August of the year. The Tickets are sold out very quickly If they are available (2019 is sold out) before the full Setlist are known. The only Supermarket int the Town makes 60% of the sales in the year at this time, mostly with Beer, Softdrinks and canned Soups. ☺ Wikipedia says about it: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacken_Open_Air
#painintheask Carach Angren - "The Funerary Dirge of a Violinist" or "Bitte Tötet Mich". They are a dutch symphonic black metal band. Both songs are from the same album which is a concept album about tragic/brutal stories of war. The first one is more of a ballad and the one with the german title (don't worry, the lyrics are 95% english) is fast-paced and heavy.
I like to listen black metal when I am ready to draw an abstract dark watercolor 😁.. Anyway I used to listen to DB since when I was 18...😂.anyway.. This sound is very northern Europe... ❤️ (and I am a southern eu 😉)
Trans Siberian Orchestra is a band/orchestra that was originally called the band Savatage. Y'all will definitely love some of their stuff. The Trans Siberian Orchestra go out and play during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and are a multi million dollar juggernaut every year just for those 2-3 months that they play.
it was 2 different concerts u were listening to the 1st ( gateways was held in Norway with ( think it was kork) that was the orcestra, the 2nd song ( mourning palace) was at wacken :)
I think I know what is wrong with the whole sound out of sync thing in the second song. In the first song both sound and video are from the Oslo concert, but in the second video only the sound is from the Oslo concert (I know, cause I heard it a hundered times by now ;) ) and the video for some reason is from the Wacken concert. That's my two cents. :)
Hi, I just discover your channel today. I don't remember how many reactions I already see from you today. :D Well as you do reaction of black metal band can I suggest one of them. The 2 song follow themselves. They are from an album that a lot of black metal fans say "It's a masterpiece of black metal". So I suggest (if you want to try) to listen to the songs : # Emperor - Alsvartr (The Oath) - Paul from France # Emperor - Ye Entrancemperium - Paul from France. And after this if you like them, you could try all the album "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk" Have a nive day.
Imo one of the best synt black albums for 1998 if not the best.More reacttions to songs of this album will sure make ur wife feel good with synth background in most of the songs :)
Hey guys - thanks for the reaction! Next request for me to spam you with (aiming for #painintheask status) is Parkway Drive - Shadow Boxing in a twofer with Chronos ;) If you do another Dimmu Borgir reaction, I'd go for Progenies of the Great Apocalypse and Alpha Aeon Omega

YES SIR
Agree, and Tormentor of Christian Souls, In Death's Embrace and Stormblast. Fukkin music for lost souls
The old dimmu. We need to let the past rest.
Dimmu Borgir gives me the same reaction every single time. Goosebumps and loosing myself in the music. I love both classical and heavy metal music. The first time I heard them my whole world was opened up to a whole new experience.
Couldnt be more agree. Om proud to be a norwegian.
Kel is into Black Metal. Her training is now complete. Rise and take your place Mistress of the Dark.
HAHAHA, she is into it fully. He may be either naive or jealous. LOL
Let's be honest. The dude is just a wannabe roadblock :D
hahaha@@NeonGarlic
She had an eargasm hearing Gateways hahaha ...nice react ...greeting from brazil
Holy shit! You actually did it! This made me so happy. Much love to y'all and thanks for the shout out🤘🤘

Dimmu Borgir means Castle of Fog... Directly translated, but you're right tho :P
2:48-2:58
The Dimmu has entered her soul and it is never leaving lol
YES! How I have been waiting for this
Gateways is a masterpiece, but Dimmu Borgir was always great, I listened to them already when they started in the 90s.
That Forces of the northern night DVD has two concerts. One is in Oslo (which Gateways was from) and the other one at Wacken which you recognised.

Progenies with live orchestra for sure

If you go to Waken, you will have to get tickets early, because it ends in hours. This year the festival was sold out for several hours.

Dimmu borgir is insane, but what's more insane is giving the video you're react to 1:9 of the screen.or 1:25 in some sequence. Thats insane.
