6:36 - 6:47 " Yeah . . . look at that smile!" Yup. Every time I watch this, that badass little snarl of a smile she gets catches me "in the feels", as the kids say.
@@seelenwinter6662, this girl, Kala Rose, did a couple things very right in her voice to convey the song better than the original band if you ask me. 46 and 2 is about the genetic code that reveals we are just a chromosomal fusion away from being a part of the ape kingdom and yet the belief is that the next movement will go into supposedly a better iteration than what we are now. I listened to her cover of "Pull me Under" and was completely unimpressed, but hearing the song "Revelation" by her band Saving Escape (doubt me and listen to the acoustic version) and she reveals that ability to move from style to style or feel to feel within the same song, just as she did here. She is worth keeping tabs on for sure.
I come from lost in Vegas reactions.. you two remind me of me and my wife of 5 years. Im hooked already because you've done so much Tool aka my favorite band! Thank you!!
I loved your reaction to this masterpiece of a cover. Its awesome to see what we ALL looked like the first time we heard it. Smiling, head banging, smiling, complimenting, clapping and smiling. Did I mention smiling? You two rock too! :-)
Thank you for acknowledging her 'we own this' smile @ "Contemplate what i've been clinging to". every other reaction vid ive seen,no one else mentions it. That smile was pure confidence
Hey guys🙋🏽♂️ My second comment on this vid. From watching how passionate and excited Kel can get on some of the vidz I've watched I knew immediately when I saw that you were doing a reaction video for the O'Keefe Music Foundation's cover of 46 & 2 that you both would absolutely love it and that it would generate some intense emotions from you both. The fact that these kids perform not just some cookie cutter old school rock songs but some seriously complicated and intricate progressive hard rock songs that musicians many years their senior can't come close to doing speaks volumes about the mentorship that goes on at OMF. 🌴🌞🌴
That young man became a legend among his peers with this performance. The dedication and talent required to reach that level at that age fosters the kind of confidence and self security that I wish I knew existed at that age. Rock on young man.
So awesome that you discovered these kick ass kids doing this cover, They actually have alot of these great vids on their page covering rock and metal. When I discovered this was so impressed also and the fact they do it amazingly is the icing on the cake...Cheers and rock!
I've been a fan of the kids of the Academy for a while. I'm glad someone is getting around to reacting to them. They also do great covers of Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and others. These kids are awesome.
Agree 100% Thank god great programs like this exist especially since so many arts programs are getting cut in public schools. Without art we don't live, we merely exist.
The fact that Tool is known to be a technically proficient band of the highest caliber, and these kids didn't just cover this they nailed it. This is one of my litmus videos for reaction channels. I am sorry for the loss of your son. I love the obvious passion that you have for music and have chosen this method to remain connected to the love your son had for music.
Loving your reactions!! I have been showing their video to people for years now. Cause they deserve the praise. You know, even now when I watch this video I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Especially when the drums kick in. It’s just perfection and dare I say.... better than the original?!
Hi from TX. I'm a brand new subscriber and just recently found y'alls channel. Tool brought me here 😆 . I have now seen a couple of y'alls reactions and I gotta say: I love how y'all just feel the music. I wanna request y'all listen to H by Tool (with lyrics if y'all can). It's my favorite tool song and really want to see what y'all think. It's a total rollercoaster of a song it's amazing (I think). Thanks for your time and hope to see it up and keep up the great job!
@@kevinlents9545 Ya i know. Its so good, and Kel-N-Rich's reactions are so authentic that it would be so great to see people that really appreciate music's reaction. I never really felt the magnitude of song until after I had my son a couple years ago. Since then it has gotten back into my playlist rotation lol. Just so good/emotional.
I discovered those kids covering that song a couple of years ago. I watched with my mouth hanging open; I was completely blown away by the talent in that video. That drummer is unbelievable. I feel like rock is starting to make a comeback with some new young bands. Here are a couple of bands that I think you’ll really like: Greta Van Fleet Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown Both of those bands are killing it in the rock&roll arena, so please check them out! Love and peace to you both! 💟☮️
They covered another song awhile back called "Bloodletting." Super young girl on vocals and the kids on bass was like half the size of the bass he was playing and it was badass.
Those kids are fantastic. Some are probably adults now, since it was recorded in 2013, but wow. So much talent and enthusiasm for what they're playing. Love the drummer's facial expressions. They all nailed their parts didn't they.
The singer is Kala Scarpinski and she goes by Kala Rose. She was 11 during this video and has since learned to play guitar and developed her singing a lot! She has her own band now and a RUclips channel as well. She later did a cover of Tool's Sober with some other kids at 16 and plays guitar and sings in that one. She is a very talented young star who has stated the Lzzy Hale is one of her idols.
It's truly inspiring, the bassist playing inversions and the drummer playing counterpoint, clever for seasoned jazz musicians, I'm guessing they haven't been performing for thirty or forty years...
I have BEGGED every reaction channel to do this! I actually prefer this version now. I have been watching these kids for over 5 years now. Watch their Sober cover. Their No More Tears is KILLER!!!
Lve the reaction, Especially Kelly's because seeing kids do this brought that same emotion, They fucken nailed it in my opinion!, Should check out their cover of Sober, same lead vocals but more recent so she's grown up now and holy shit she is gonna be kick ass in the world rock/metal! Rock ya later
I remember the first time I saw these kids do this. I freaked out because they were so awesome. That drummer knocked it out of the park. Danny Carey is rated one of the best ever and for that kid to do what he did is unbelievable.
They also do a Dream Theater cover that many claim Is better than the original. At this point we have 5 down votes on this. These are the people who took time off from torturing ants to view this. Wish it showed who this is? What is so wrong with someone's life they voted this down.
Alicia Encaderada. Yes I have seen lots of people who like the cover version more. Although you and I aren't making such a claim. I have seen people say that.
The idea of a cover is to do it different than the original. Maybe faster or slower etc. To simply try and do it the same your not bringing anything new. You might add parts or take some out. I think the kids did that.
Exactly. A cover is intended to be different not the same. Not note for note. It might be an acoustic version. It might be an acoustic song changed electric. It might be in a lower voice or a higher voice. Such as disturbed doing sound silence. Or Van Halen playing girl you really got me in with new style. No matter what you will find people who prefer one version over another. Although there none said it was better but rather that some prefer the cover.
May I suggest another? Iron Maiden "Number of the Beast"/O'Keefe Music Foundation. The young man singing will blow you away. The other young men playing are so awesome as well. Really hope you will do this one. Thanks you two!
OMF is awesome. A killer crossover cover to check out would be “Still Fly” from Devil Wears Prada. Would be awesome to see you guys to a video of that!
