We install the fuel tower, fuel filter tower (lift & high pressure) and fuel pumps. It is starting to look like we might make our deadline for project completion. Overall, progress continues on the 1939 Cat D4 / RD4 agricultural crawler with a D4400 diesel engine. 4G9986 "Lil Lefty" has never been so much fun and fulfilling. I hope you enjoy the shop talk, banter and commentary.
We are operators pretending to be mechanics!
    Thanks for watching!
    Regards,
    Aaron & Greg "The cleaner"

That old bakelite has survived well, but it has to be brittle. You made a good decision.

When is the Longmont show? September?

@TomTeater It looks like late August. I think we're going to reserve a spot and either take the John Deere D or Lefty if we get it done. I will confirm everything in the future.

I didn't know they made aluminum filter holders. Have broken the original ones. Great to see the insides of all the caterpillar mysteries.

I prefer the alluminum holders. I have had at least 2 of the Bakelite holders broke off at the top where the pin hole is

I've had some weird things with subscribers the past week. We're always happy to hear from you. My folks and I always look for your comments. We're all looking forward to hopefully meeting you at some point. Hopefully we get Lefty done in time for the Longmont show. Fingers crossed. Thank you again Tom!

Does that honkering fuel setup just hang off the side of the engine like that? daggum...all that weight with no front support bracket to help alleviate some of the forces that thing would be exposed to...I wonder how many have busted/sheared off bolts
Coming together each new video...loving it!
    Keep em coming!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. That's quite a bit of weight hanging on there! I've never seen a broken one.

I have enjoyed watching the restoration of Lil Lefty. A few videos ago you I believe you mentioned looking for lights. I have a few 2F9300 wire basket lamps, a few 7F4625 cast aluminum grill lamps, also a few 2B4551 brackets. To get Lil Lefty on the road in the dark I'd donate either three - 2F9300 or two - 7F4625 and brackets. If any of the lamps will help with the restoration, let me know.

That is a very generous offer and very much appreciated! I think little Lefty is going to have to learn to see in the dark though. I may look for some lights for the toolbar 7U Weezy sometime in the future. Really makes me happy to hear that folks are enjoying the videos! Many thanks! 😊

Hello Aaron and Greg looking good. I have a new problem maybe you can help me with. I am new to needing a bushing for a loader. I have put a motor in this case backhoe loader. I have rebuilt one hydraulic cylinder. I broke a part on the backhoe curl for the bucket, I hope it is weldable, but I digress. This 1960 case Loader 540, which is a gas 530. One of my lift arms is missing a bushing. As I am new at the bushing angle of these machines, meaning I have never dealt with the need of getting a bushing for a loader. I have looked at McMaster Carr trying to get a bushing. I have no idea what style bushing to get. it measures - shaft size 1 1/4, housing size 1 9/16, length 2 inches. do I need a graphite imbedded bushing (or whatever they imbed bushings with). The bushing on the other side has groves for grease. There are several types of bushings on McMaster Carr I have no idea what to get. I see some that cost $12 and some at case that cost $170.00 that cannot be right, can it? Thanks again for all the entertainment and knowledge I need and am acquiring about my d4 and all else, and just the plain fun of watching you two work on these machines.

I would always see if you could get an oem style bushing. I like to Surf eBay all the time if you have the part number or parts book I would start there. If the bushing is greasable I wouldn't think there would be any need for graphite impregnated bronze. I'm always surprised what I can dig up on eBay. Worst case scenario get something close to the dimensions. If you know a machinist I can't imagine it would cost much to have one made or have one turned down to the correct dimensions. Hope this helps.
