Hello Jean!! Thank you for teaching us how to sew the folded star potholder. My mom and I will be making it this weekend. Many blessings to you and your family!!
Wow, all three potholders are beautiful done, great tutorial and the finishing touches, too pretty to even use. Thanks Jean you never disappoint. Thanks for all you do, take care. 👍❤️😊
Thank you Jean. I will slow the video down for the last row of rectangle placements. Just to make sure I get it. They are beautiful. I can't wait to see what other fun projects you have in store for us. About those mittens 🤔❤
This is a much easier way of making these than other videos I’ve watched. My 9 yr old granddaughter will enjoy making them, with supervision ( at least for the first couple) Thank you Jean.
Thanks Jean for the tutorial and beautiful music. I've made close to 1,000 Amish Stars to sell them. People seek me out at sales we have in our little town. One lady buys these Stars to matte and frame, then hang them around her house! I offered to make a loop for hanging, but she doesn't use them, she hangs them like pictures. Whatever 😅. Your tutorial is different than mine, but it's worth a try. I'm so bored making them, but I always sell out. And, Bowl Cozies. Every person in the County has to have at least one pair. I make them with bright colors, and unisex. My town is aging, and people are cooking for 2, sometimes only 1. The bright colors help them to eat alone. They always sell out as well. I loved the music you chose to play. I played many instruments until a few years ago. Piano was the first instrument I learned. I played most of the songs you chose. Thank you for the reminder of how much I loved playing. I played anything with strings or keyboard, and studied under many conductors who are now Maestros. 😊❤🎶
Jean, just a little suggestion, when you sew the back to the front you might use your serger. That would cut your fabric and compress the edges at the same time. This would save you the step of cutting the background fabric and make it a little easier to sew the bias tape on.❤
Jean, yes, I was thinking that you had a serger. As much as you sew I don't know how you manage without one. I've had one for many years and find so many occasions to use it.
But doesn't a serger take away the seam allowance and finish it? Is that really needed in quilting? I get it for dress/garment making, but not sure why a quilter would need a serger
Jean, a serger only trims away as much as you want it to. You also have the option to disengage the cutter and serge without cutting. I purchased my Viking serger when they were fairly new to the home sewer probably about 35 years ago. My memory isn't as good as it used to be as I'm 83 now but my serger is still working, better than me actually. I always found so many uses for it and don't know how I ever did without it. Well so much for making a short story long. Ha ha. I send my best to you and your family and you really should give serging a try.❤
Thanks Jean I made one before I had kids and put it on a small basket and it Is away on the Xmas table fully of lollies , it needs redoing and I make some more for the children for there tables next year. great tutorial
I love the colours of that pot holder very pretty, I have sent a couple of pictures to Ian on Instagram or Facebook one of those. It's my three seam quilt the colour doesn't pop but that's my phone camera and the lack of good lighting but I hope he has seen it and can find it for you. Lots of love and thanks for inspiring me to make that one, I'm sure I will do another sometime. Xx Pennie
He shared with me Pennie:) Thanks so much ~ you did a great job! That is one of my most favorite easy quilt patterns to make - and one of my first YT video attempt!! Oh my, how clumsy and un-used to the camera I was!!! LOL! LOL! Thanks for being a loyal watcher and friend! :) All the best!
Jean, you had asked for ideas on new tutorials and I was wondering if you had ever done any chenille projects. I did some several years ago and it's a lot of fun. A good source to watch is "How to make your own chenille" by The Fabric Patch. She does a great job explaining it. 😊
These are lovely! I hope Maxwell, Ian, you and your family are well! Thank you so much for sharing your time and many talents!🥰
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

You betcha! Hope you enjoy making them!
Hi Jean! Love it! It's funny that the finished potholder reads Christmas fabric, but when you showed the layer cake-it looks more Fall 😊😊
You’re right! The color combo does lend itself to both seasons! :)
Thank you
I'm glad you like it!
These are beautiful! I've often wondered how they were made, so thank you so much for showing us. You do such beautiful work!!
