- In 2019, footage of this kungfu guy was featured all over social media, but nobody knew who he was. But now, only on Fight Commentary Breakdowns, we reveal the name and find more matches from this star of the Kungfu world. His name is Li Shun Gen 李顺根 and he's tested JKD, Monkey, and Drunken-Kungfu. Let's see his awesome interpretations of Chinese martial arts. He seems like a funnier version of Qi La La. The two of them havee similar origins. They both started training in Kungfu after seeing it portrayed in media. Both also have only claimed to be hobbyists.

For those of you who wanted to see the full match from 9:50, the link above has all three rounds with some fresh information on Li Shun Gen!
Modern Kung Fu needs more of this guy. He’s having the best of both worlds when he fights
He has the same attitude about fighting like that evasive Thai fighter (I don't remember his name), he is just enjoying the moment.
@@leonardonovara9348 Lerdsila or Saenchai ?
@@runakobannister3316 Lerdsila, that's the name. Thanks.
More importantly kung fu needs more sifus to encourage participation in sparring and combat sports
Or equally important
It's really interesting to see that this kung fu hobbyist has way better understanding about distance and tempo than the self proclaimed masters. Also it looks really cool when he suddenly snaps and attacks xD
Probably because he actually trains and spars
For a guy with a Dad Body, his side kick shockingly have power.
Honestly from a random guy... that's got to be one of the 20 best side kicks I've ever seen. That was the kind of kick that if it catches you coming forward is going to break a rib.
The thing about the dad bod is that you don't know what's underneath the layers of fat.
Joe Rogan has a bit of a dad bod at times. His side kick is brutal.
He’s giving off Jean Charles Skarbowski vibes, he looks like a random uncle, but he could just wreck you while drunk. (As seen in GSP’s fight camp)
The underrated boxer Emanuel Agustos used to use this drunken tactic in his fights. The dumb referees and judges used to penalize him and cheat him out of his wins, because they dint have a clue of what he was doing. But he was a very exceptional boxer,he just got robbed a lot.
He was incredible
Something I think it's really worth discussing about that first match is how accurate his upkicks were when he fell or was knocked down. I think that would be a real asset to him in a street or MMA fight, though his lack of urgency in getting up afterwards might cost him if he doesn't break that habit.
that step in side kick was insane...dude used the drunk movements to lull him in and then just threw a bomb
That scissor sweep was actually insane 😂
I love this kung fu guy. He shows how kung fu can really work and its not just all theater and show.
I think the best part about this guy is that you can tell he's having fun
Interesting he’s actually using some Chinese ground fighting techniques.
I don’t know if he’s a master but he seems to have a legit understanding Drunken and Monkey tends to use similar tactics
The tumbling and falling is a big part of it often they’ll do what i would call big sacrifice aerial kicks. Aimed for that big ko like kyokushin wheel kicks than on the ground they can go for low leg kicks/sweeps than get up.
His swaying in drunken isn’t random he’s loading up each movement
Actually it’s really cool to see someone use applications rather the simply doing performance wushu
Ngl he’s got skills. Him, Emmanuel Augustus, and Anderson Silva should train someone to become like the greatest drunken fighter
This is probably my new favorite human. I never expected to laugh my ass off while watching a kickboxing match.
I assume when I get through the latter 2/3 of the video I'll also find some more "cool" stuff, not just entertainment. Can't wait for that full clip you'll be posting soon.
This guy is amazing, the JKD fight is my favorite one, and I can see Monkey Kung Fu working well with BJJ.
Thank you for sharing ☺️.
Nice to see this guy getting some coverage. First time I saw him doing that side kick, I knew he wasn't joking around.
I can't stop laughing at his training video. He literally wore medieval robes, boots, and even wig. Hey at least he's having that much fun with his hobbies AND it works.
That's actually very entertaining. It is actually very interesting using that unpredictable movement to make opponent confused.
yea but it saps your cardio faster than american having to walk to walmart without their disabled scooter
Saps your cardio faster than an Australian fighting a kangaroo.
That scissors takedown was sweet AF
This dude was hilarious, and fairly effective too. I laughed like crazy.
The drunken master, he overdid it too much but I do love watching him
This was just awesome to watch. He's good at using the looseness and unpredictability of drunken boxing but needs to be more carefull with throwing himself to the ground imho. Or at least try to get back up as soon as possible. Monkey was a good attempt too, once you start to really dig and analyze into the basic monkey posing you can find SO many uses for it. It's a simple yet so powerful technique.
This guy makes me proud to be a fellow hobbyist. I'd love to see more of him.
Monkey style is one of my favorite style and have reall world use .I go to 10th planet jujitsu and use it in my kickboxing class against resisting opponents I think I’m going to start filming my journey
@@MARTIALnoart that's great, yea man go for it. Would be great to see your experiences
Whenever you have a fighter who fights for fun, you have a fun fighter. Right on!
He can combine Drunken style with Monkey style to become Drunken Monkey style. Works especially well against the Snake style (in the movie 'Snake in Monkey's Shadow').
Lmfao 😂😂😅😅
The headline should read, "Kungfu Hobbyist That Puts FAKE Masters To Shame.......".
He is great to watch. His style may not be the most effective, but it is a blast to watch. He definitely has some skills and has studied several different styles and is able to mix them well. Thanks for the video, hes a good find. Its good to see someone that can put some of the traditional kung fu movements to use in the ring.
its effective just like any style, if properly trained as it was intended..eheh
Loved the drunken boxing! And just affirm that it works - most pro fighters say this- don’t take it too seriously, have fun while fighting, because it loosens the body up.
It’s always that equation :
Body -mind - spirit
As soon as you’re taking it waaay to seriously, you tense up, and as a result you’re not as elastic, or light on the feet.
I think this is actually the best king fu I’ve seen outside of movies. I would say he is more of a master than any other self proclaimed masters out there.
The best part is he's self aware and is kinna playing around but like isn't half bad at fighting for real!
The real Drunken Master.
cool dude...one of the best monkey kung fu representations ever seen on youtube.....
Looks like he's using drunken fist to set his tempo and pairing it with dog boxing. Honestly win or lose that's a pretty cool showing.
"Drunken boxer drinks" is a stance having both hands up protecting the face... he should have been using this lol.
Amazing Jerry thanks
So much love for someone willing to innovate and try something new
Repeating this comment forever to make sure you saw it:
Can you make a tier list with martial arts styles? Since you know a lot about many kung fu styles your opinion would be of much value, since many of the tier lists in youtube don't cover chinese martial arts well. Most only cover wing chun, sometimes ninjutsu/bujinkan, but only to mock them.
Love your channel.
Dude will be unbeatable once he mastered 降龙十八掌. Soon, soon.
The problem is if you get KNOCKED SILLY, the ref might not believe it!!!!!!😳
Hopefully we get to see him fight under MMA rules.
I really enjoy your content. I appreciate your hard work and your stories of the origins of martial arts particularly kung fu styles such as Hung Gar. My friend used to show me some of what he learned back when I was in high school. He was my neighbor and one day, he took me to meet his Sifu YC Wong at his studio in SF. I heard amazing stories where students would hold horse stance until one incense stick would burn completely. Practice of the horse stance was performed on a boat under the streets that was about shoulder width apart wide. The average student would practice horse stance and nothing else for four years before even throwing a single punch. I wonder if you could share some history and perhaps check out
YC Wong using double chain whips! Absolutely wicked! This comment is the extent of my social media by the way….. I just don’t.✌🏻
Thank you very much! Looking forward to your next video!
Cool story bruh. But practicing horse stance and nothing else for 4 years is a massive waste of time and effort. Its one of the things that Bruce Lee used to criticise about Chinese kungfu. Its the old school Chinese way and its neither scientific nor practical (this thinking applies to kitchen staff too). In that same 4 years, one would hv been a very competent MMA fighter/kickboxer while you’re still stuck on horse stance and not knowing how to throw a punch. By the same token, i was stuck just doing jabs for a month in my first ever muaythai gym. Coz of that i hv a very good jab, but i wasnt doing it for 4 years. Anyway thanks for sharing. Its always cool to discover old school practices even if i dont always agree with them
As a kung fu stylist I have always felt we really need more emphasis on fighting with it.
Man!! Would love to see more this guy
That's awesome! The first "method martial artist". He musta went to the Lee Strassberg School of Wushu.
Cue up "Under the General's Orders" from Jackie Chan's Drunken Master.
How can we contact you if we have information?
My uncle has been training in various martial arts since the early 70s. I’ve seen him spare looks nothing like these so called masters. He mostly does Tai Chi but he’s a black belt in karate. Also trained in Wushu.
thanks bro, that was awesome.
Full match with his JKD interpretation soon!
Wow thanks a lot for this.
In the first match, did he have the shorts backwards?
His heads off the center line, but right in the soccer kick line lmao
I saw the full first match in another video, at the end the drunken guy lost but it was a close and fun match
This is the thing. Alot of things work... It is just that the self proclaimed masters are delusional that they can know how to fight without fighting or sparring.
Edit: That side kick was sick!
I love this. Guy is just having fun.
Actually drunk boxing is effective against mayweather, I heard in his interview is toughest opponent is Emanuel Augustus.
Yo this is awesome!
Lol. “Doing a little piriformis stretch.”
now I just want this guy to fight with all the Lei Wulong techniques.
Jerry bringing the exclusive!!!
Fantastic 🎉
That was actually impressive fighting I must admit. And you can see he enjoys it big time.
For a hobbyist, that was so cool..modify kungfu moves into combat sport , this guy is talented
This guy is my hero, but this video is super old brother. You keep saying get I to boxing or clinching range, but he is winning most of those exchanges.
the monkey one was okay but there's rolling back after a ground attack, not just rolling forward or staying on the same spot. and when he pounced on the guy, it shouldn't really be like slapping down.
wouldn't stand a chance against more experienced serious fighters, but entertaining nonetheless.
He's havin' fun!
Fcking RUclips not recommending your great content. Didn't watch you for quite a while because of this. Any updates on the dk yoo vid? Want to see your commentary on that man haha
Sweet!
It is aweso me to see someone use Kung fu like this!
it shows that it CAn be effective in fights!
That first one was epic!!🎉
Not quite drunken fist on my part, but I found through my sparring when I learn to loosen and relax to fight like one of those wacky inflatable tube guys, my physical and mental capacity improves lots during sparring. Couldn't quite do the same when I offered to get doubled teamed though (we'll figure it out one day). Interesting enough, it was my Muay Thai coach who recommended I learn to relax when striking, not my Kung Fu or Taekwondo coaches.
Entertaining for sure
This is the famous “drunken fist” Kung Fu style....
That kick knocked his ass out screen 🤣
Emanuel Augustus, boxer. The real Drunken Master.
Not only is he wearing a Bruce Lee jumpsuit. He's fighting in Chuck Taylors!!
I’m really impressed he es actually applying kung fu at a certain level of effectiveness on the ring. Works at this level though. Wonder what if he starts a career as a profesional lévels?. Would he be able to refine these ideas against a skilled fighter?
So the first guy like yeah he may not have been amazing or anything but he was actually pretty competent and to his credit he struck the first big hit that took the guy out for 10 seconds which is what self defense is all about right ? Giving yourself extra time to get out of the scenario. Fun stuff.
What is his name
This guys just mucking around🤣🤣🤣
I don't believe it... That's so cool.
Спасибо. Интересно.
I think he is the best real kung fu guy in China
This was cool
So cool
The judges "How do I score that?"
Li Shun is my new favorite! I like him better than drunk Russian break dancer!
im a new fan of this kungfu guy
The first match was wild I felt that sidekick to the stomach I was kicked like that and it did not feel great it landed in my solar plexus and upper ab that shit sucks
Men he may be not going to be a champion, but hes the most entertaining striker i ever watch 🤣
It seems the monkey kungfu would work best vs.kickboxing or boxing. He has to guard his head better though. And the floor sweeps need more speed and power
Well i happens that you found a "Yoshimitsu type(SC)" of character. Great guy.
Acting drunk is kickboxing 101
Absolute madlad
Bro be a narrator of mma events on Asia like brave in Filipines in China in South Korea, like one fc and do a narration on spanish to have more listones and viewers. You are a passionate people for martial arts. We can see that. Sucess.
Isn't the Kickboxer/Sanda guy a bit too frail? Lol, this remembers me of that one tournament in Japan with many martial art styles. There were a lot of Kyokushin guys and when they punched or knee'd their opponents, they would just fall like it was their first time getting hit on their life lol
Im stealing that scissor sweep technique 🤣
Look for Ryo Chonan vs Anderson Silva on YT. Perfect execution and finish via the same technique
You've never heard of DRUNKEN STYLE KUNGFU?
What a sidekick
I feel like the hand on the ground hook kicks might come naturally from Jeet Kune Do.
This guy is epic!
Clearly he has a fair bit of sparring sessions, he can read the tempo of his opponent.
hes awesome haha
