The best thing about the Navi is low cost mods makes it perfect. Don't need crazy power out of the Navi, just need to make it more livable. It a great runabout
Cool vid 😊 thanks for the reviews
Agreed 100%! I can’t think of anything else where you can have this much fun, for this cheap, brand new! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@LifeOfBurch hey man. Sorry its an older post. I just put malossi kit and new clutch (s23) with 1500rpm springs provided. Followed instructions to a tee. If i give it full throttle from a stop, My forks and handlebars shake/vibrate a bit. This happens for a 1/4 second. Never had it happen with stock it was always smooth. Is it extra torque?
I don't have this problem if the bike is rolling and I pin it.
I've also noticed it revs up, chugs for a 1/4 of a second and then everything is fine. Once again not an issue if I'm rolling and pin it. Assuming
with a softer start i wont have these problems but your video looks like you don't have this.
I've done exhaust/jets/intake/malossi/clutch/springs.
It had 1500, 2000 (installed factory) or 2500RPM springs in the clutch kit. I know you have the 1000 RPM springs but you'd think the lowest spring provided would be fine. I know you lowered because of chugging. But i'm not sure if my problem is different. Since you dont have the vibrations. My clutch grabs right away. Just not sure.
Flip those c clips around, so they don't fling off from the centrifugal force. When you pulled them off they were facing the opposite direction from the inside out. Nice job though!
He WILL learn the hard way,,,,,,
When you put in lighter rollers you change the RPM that the variator starts moving the belt. That's why it takes longer to start moving. So, increasing RPM engagement in the variator requires a decrease in RPM engagement in the clutch.
Now put a red contra spring in and play with the rollers until you can do unassisted wheelies.
Dude, I really like your enthusiasm during the video and how expressive you are. I have been interested in getting A Navi and getting into riding, and I'm glad I came across this channel!
I have a Navi. You are like a enthusiasm teacher teaching kindergarten kids 1+1=2. LOL . Good job
Love it dude, sucess story in the end. I was convinced it was a carb issue when you first bought it goes to show me a lesson there lol. This Navi has been a rollercoaster of emotions, i was feeling the anxiety for you when you first bought it. Hope with the new mods your happily enjoying the bike 🤘
Warning man, when you start getting into CVTs and centrifugal clutches, it's addictive. I love CVTs and scooters, especially Hondas like the Reflex and Silver Wing.
I can already feel the addiction setting in 😭 Seeing how much fun it is to tinker with the Navi’s CVT has me looking back into an ADV150 more seriously again 😅
@LifeOfBurch Dude, an ADV150 would be not a bad bike for you if you do like this CVT stuff, it would be JUST enough adventure esque to have fun with it in the woods, but not lumbering amd heavy
Love the maintenance tips. Thanks. Subscribed
Always stoked for a new LOB video. Keep it up with the awesome content even in the winter! Cheers mate
Thanks brotha!! Definitely trying to keep content coming any time we get a warm day or two! 🙌🏻🤘🏻
I know winter is hard for bike life bro, always puts a smile on my face to see your vids.
Thanks dude, I appreciate that! Comments like yours are what keep me pushing out content as much as I can even through winter! 🙌🏻
Thanks for the info on the handle grips
Those three clips that closed up the clutch thing were on backwards. The opening in the clips should point out, so they get pushed towards the pin they're clipped into. You put the opening towards the center of the clutch, which means they're only holding on with the friction. In theory they could get ejected into the clutch when it spins fast.
good video i’m almost certain i’m gonna buy a Grom or Navi one of theses days 🙏🏽😎
Loving this series already!
Honestly same! 😂🤘🏻
Great video! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
What clutch is it that you have in there? I love this! I upgraded the variator, rollers, and contra spring and I was noticing the slow pickup. Looks like I need a clutch and springs next. Thanks for the video!
Great video Burch !!! 🤙🏽
Hell yeah dude glad it worked out. Good job.
Thanks for the heads up about the springs brotha!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻🤘🏻
great video, good tips, love it. you should get into more tuning advice.
Gonna try this on my wife's Metropolitan... It worked amazing on my 171bbk gy6 quad.
I'm glad you figured out the navi. The brown one.
Okay you get one stock race and then I’m upgrading mine😈🏁😂
Hahaha deal!! 🛵💨🧡
Amazing vid Honda #1 great job Burch 🤘
Thanks brotha!! 🙌🏻😎🤘🏻
Thank you thank you and thank you for the tutorial I live in San Antonio Texas downtown I have everything near me public transportation makes no sense to drive a car around what is moped a scooter like the Navi that you reviewed in a couple of months I'll be looking to purchase something like that I'm going to keep those springs in mine❤😊
Just found out what a navi was today!! I took a riders 18:48 course last year, but still haven’t bought a bike just cause I am not sure what I want to use as a very first, but this has got my attention for sure. With having very little experience on a bike.
These things make great first bikes! Super cheap, easy to use, confidence inspiring, and even though you should expect to “outgrow” its capabilities quicker than you would on a 300cc, 500cc, etc, it would be PERFECT to keep as a secondary fun bike once you’re ready to move up to something bigger!
I'm still surprised the original clutch was toast, must have been defective or poor install from the factory because I think you said there wasn't much for miles on it
Its kind of fun that you can do all of that to it very easily and pretty inexpensively. I can't think of another machine where that's possible, and with noticable results too
The reason why you are having a hard time installing the springs it's because you were trying to do them the wrong way you're supposed to turn it 90 degrees and rotate it into the hole
I have those same grips on my 2020 Grom and I love them!
They’re sooo nice!! I used to run Vans grips on my BMX bike and once I put them on my old Rebel 500 I knew that I needed to put them on all the motorcycles too. So comfy! 🙌🏻
Sweet! Make more Navi videos!!!
I got the same color one myself. Love it and I wish it was a bit faster but hey, the Navi will get ya in a lil trouble lol"
Great job!❤
Thanks!! 🧡
Hi great video 👍🏼, which NCY CLUTCH SPRINGS are you using? The (1000 RPM) FOR 150cc - 232cc GY6 ? Or NCY SRING for 50cc GY6 SCOOTERS. Thank you
Got a Kymco Agility 50 4T for my daughter, that thing could barely make 30mph, got a kit like yours, did the variator and limiter pin, could not get the dang clutch off (did not have an impact driver). Still with the limiter pin removed and lighter rollers, we managed to get the little thing up to about 42mph - which was good for a 50 4T.
Hey my good man I like your video like information I got a question I don't know where you're at but I live in the east coast gets cold out here. I'm having problems it shuts off and when it's really really cold I have to actually drive it around in circles with 15 minutes or 20 minutes for it to stay on do you have issues with it shutting off on cold weathers
People are kinda dramatic.... "the whole bike is junk....i want to trash it"
No its not...... Properly just the clutch drum/basket thats warped due to heat....
But glad you fixed it, and going for some improvements on this little scooter now.
I'm "studying up" on the Navi before I go get it :) I tried to the other day and they said there's a small quality recall on them so I couldn't :( so thanks for making these videos so I can know what might need to be upgraded at some point :)
Same here but it was fixed and I fixed it this weekend. I work I LA and this is very much worth the money
Well it was good for a week… then someone stole it :((
@gabrielmartinez4288are you serious?
Cool vid!!
I going for it
Liked the video
I think 🤔 you put the c-clips on backwards they need to be facing inwards with the gap outside
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Best book....
Trying to get Mike to interested in it.
Would this mod to the clutch be beneficial for a navi that goes up a bunch of hills?
Alright, so whens the Navi GY6 swap? hahaha
Lovin the Navi series. The upgrades have been so relatively inexpensive for the gains you are getting. It's great!
Maannn that would be quite the stretch going from hating this thing straight into GY6 swapping it 😂😂😂
I’m definitely super stoked on how much performance/usability I’ve gained from such a relatively small amount of money though! 🙌🏻🤘🏻
@@LifeOfBurch I tell you what though, this brown Navi has been a great test monkey for performance mods before Nina starts throwing mods on the green one!
@@LinkFelton agreed!! It’s been sooo nice having a bike that I (respectfully) don’t give a shit about! Hahah I can test out whatever I want, do whatever I want, and not be worried about anything going wrong. Then we take the perfect formula and transfer it to Nina’s bike once I know what I’m doing 😂
heck yeah burch video Sunday!!
Yessirrr!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@LifeOfBurch thanks for the stickers btw
@@therideofalifetime absolutely brotha!
honda navi is awesome damn great machine
Agreed! They’re a freaking blast!
incredible!
Hello Burch, will this improve the top speed? Thank you!
you live in Annapolis? that is pretty cool!
for the variator, are you using sliders or rollers?
What is the app you use for your road tests?
Can you write me a permission slip to my wife. On it it tell her I have permission to put my bikes in the living room. You live a charmed life man.
I reckon your original problem would have been the springs. 1 or 2 of them installed backwards causing the clutch pads to swing put at different rates. Would explain the vibes.
What part of Illinois are you from. I want to bring my Navi to you too replace those springs
Not only did I implacably Love the video, the beauty of the place that you live is also phenomenal. I think I’m gonna have to go buy me one. Batman out.
Thanks brotha!! I was reporting live from Annapolis, MD 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Cvt upgrades
1500rpm center spring
1200rpm clutch spring
13.5 drive face and pulley grind
Straight 11g pulley ball
Regroove clutch bell
Regrind torque drive
Would you make a complete video
Budget improvement total video?
Navi Nation
@LifeOfBurch Would it be a waste to change the springs if your other upgrades increase the torque? I am asking because of things I am thinking of doing to the bike and I don't want to waste funds on something that I could add to another mod part. Love to hear your thoughts
Awesome!!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
i have those grips on my rebel 1100, little darker though to match my brown seat
Niiice! I bet that combo looks great!
How much was the full upgrades including the clutch replacement
Did the new clutch, variator weights, and springs effect MPG? Also does anyone know why Honda put such a small fuel tank on the Navi?
Pod filter, rejet, malossi variator upgrade kit. Anyone know if theres a benefit to alternating stock rollers with the kit rollers?? Like half and half. I know they have to be even
Shoulda got olive grips to match the body color better, but not bad.
will low weight rollers/sliders alone allow wheelies?
to be fair, it's the best $15 AFTER a $400 clutch upgrade.
i got my 12g rollers shipping as we speak which makes bike 10% faster, but idk if i can justify 10x that cost ($400) to make bike another 5-10% after that.
or, to do wheelies - is the clutch upgrade a must?
Show us how to install the kick stand
Seems like a really nice town to live in... Now do the same kind of mod on The other bike.
Would a big bore kit for gy6 motors work on the Navi?
How long should It take to break my bike in my bike only had 1mile on it when I got it should I baby it or what please respond I really want to do right with this bike I would really appreciate it Thank you for your vlogs please help me
I wish there was a video for Aprilia sr150
This is great. Going to update my Navi ASAP!
I can’t recommend it enough! You’ll have that thing feeling like a whole new bike! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@LifeOfBurch Thanks for taking the time to show this off! As always, great stuff coming out of Life of Burch!
@@TGalanos 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Higher rpm engagement makes for better performance... Lower makes it slower.
W living room
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
The navi has redeemed itself
Ya love to see it! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
What’s the trade off? Why don’t they have those springs as stock?
would this decrease the top speed or no?
in my place i can get those ncy springs at around 3-4 bucks
Make sure if the belt has one side that is flat that side of the belt faces the bike
The springs are +1000 or +1500 to what is considered stock. Meaning the clutch will engage once the bell is spinning at a higher rpm giving you more take off speed. When the engine is making more power at higher rpm.
Any recommendation it shuts off if it's not warm enough for keeps shutting off I don't know what causes that's kind of strange my hunger rockets doesn't even shut off and it's a cheaper it's a scooter I don't know why the Honda Navi shuts off
How can you make it faster going uphill?
Nah, I had a step125 that did that. You get used to it and the bike accelerates harder. Effectively it's the same as having a high stall converter on your car. It sucks on a street car but a small capacity bike, it works great.
You never mentioned if 1 g springs will work with stock hardware
Makes you wonder why Honda just doesn't make the bike stock with these mods, after all its not a 50cc moped, its allowed to have these speed and power options .. it IS a motorcycle ... right? :o
Can you mod these to get up to 60mph?
would yall recommend me to buy a navi as a 14 year old to rip around during the summer?
Do it
I couldn't find this answer online easily, so sorry to post on an older video: anyone know if these different springs have a different life to them? At least in the car world (auto racing specifically) where I come from, springs like this in the clutch usually don't live as long, just because they're "looser" and eventually they break faster. Not normally a big deal for regular use in a car (so I'm thinking it's not to be worried about here either really with how easy it is to change), but in auto-racing, something that is more likely to break mid-race is bad, so I'm just concerned it'd go from changing once a year or two, to changing once every 3-6 months...but again..wasn't hard...makes it better...soo....maybe I'm answering my own question...
I'm running the 1500 springs and take of is quick and it seems like it wants to keep going torque wise
Nice! Glad to hear the 1,500rpm springs are such a solid improvement too! It’s crazy how big of an impact they have 🤘🏻
@@LifeOfBurch most definitely
Stock clutch?
Racers call them stalls, in reference to torque converters, basically the same
Can you do the springs and rollers on the stock clutch ?
Rollers should be able to go in the stock variator, but I doubt the springs work with the stock clutch.
@@LifeOfBurch thanks for the info. I got rollers ordered but didn’t know about springs until I saw your video. Hoping some 12g rollers will help my Navi out on some rural area hills in the ozarks.
How about swapping the big spring with a different one for the GY6? I've found kits with the small springs and a big blue spring.
To be honest, I don’t know enough about what the contra spring does or the value of getting a different strength one 🤷🏼♂️ After some more research I may consider it though!
@LifeOfBurch what I've read up on (watched a video explaining it) they change the Pressure of which the belt is pushed or held in "gear" so could cause slipping or not enough outward blow out (belt going to a higher said gearing) it would be nice to see if there was one better then what comes with the kits for maybe more low-end grunt or topend. I have a downhill 1.5 mile drive to work but going home is all long or high grade hills.
When you gonna get a pcx? I got a 2015 did cvt upgrades and it does 70mph.
Damn 70mph isn’t bad at all! I’m not much of a PCX guy, but I’ve had my eye on an ADV150 for quite some time 👀
The socket should be 38mm, not 39 as stated in description
OK, your Navi needs a wrap and that cool windshield your gals one has.
What GoPro settings do you use?
4K/30fps, superview, stabilization on, and everything else factory settings pretty sure. My handheld GoPro is narrow view instead of superview, but same settings otherwise 🤘🏻
Could you fit this thin in the back of an SUV? Would be fun to travel with it, just don't have a trailer.
@LifeOfBurch
Depends on the size of the SUV. I know it can fit in a Honda Element if you take the mirrors off! I’ve even seen someone fit 2 Groms inside an Element at the same time 😳
put a bigger jet in the carb and get rid of the air box🤔
Yes, the springs will go into the stock clutch.
lol are u sure? I just bought the springs and when he said they won’t go into the clutch my gear sank 😅.
@@gabrielmartinez4288 did it work on the stock clutch?
Interesting. When I asked Scooter Swap Shop if I should switch out the red springs with blue before I put my clutch on, they told me to use the red springs. I wonder why they told me to use the red springs?
Hmm not sure 🤷🏼♂️ It wasn’t them that recommended that I do this, they just told me which springs would work if I wanted to go this route. Hopefully they don’t know something that I don’t 😂
@@LifeOfBurch Tallyn knows his stuff, so I'm sure you're good. Now I'm thinking I need to change my springs too.
My guess is you need to break in the clutches and the drum surface first before switching to the other lite springs
Because they just see which parts *should* fit and sell off that without much testing and zero idea about longevity.
Actually you took the cover off 3 times. Once for the upgrade the clutch, then to replace those 2 bolts, and now.
I will more likely to upgrade after the warranty expires and it probably void the warranty.
I want a mini moto thanks to you. Grom or navi or maybe even a monkey
You won’t regret it! Minimotos are SO much damn fun!! 😎🤘🏻
