Does An $1,800 Honda Navi Really Need A $500 Yoshimura Exhaust??

- Everyone knows that Yoshimura makes some of the best motorcycle exhausts in the game, BUT is it REALLY worth dropping $500 on their new Honda Navi exhaust when the Navi itself only costs $1,800?! I guess I'll let you decide...

Yooooo you’re from Maryland??????
I'd be pretty undecided too on it, would make me feel pretty self-conscious every time I went for a ride, but think of it this way, at least people that didn't see you before on your little Navi, they'll definitely *hear* you! 😃
Oh they’ll DEFINITELY hear me now! I wish video did justice to how crazy this little thing sounds now 😂🤘🏻
Y’all I could hear him all the way down the street😂😂😂
R.I.P. the neighbors’ eardrums 😅😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I'm having flashbacks of modding my Ruckus 15 years ago.... It might seem crazy expensive and pointless but at the time, it was a lot of fun. I miss that bike (not the lack of power though).
Literally put one on today. It’s loud for sure. Is it worth the money? I’d say yes. Sound, looks, weight, performance was improved. Stock topped out at 48mph. With the Yoshimura pipe I felt more pep off the line and hit 53 mph today on flat ground. I’m 6’1” 187lbs. I was not fully tucked and no windscreen. I Put the silencer in tonight. Will try tomorrow.
Small bike, big sound 🤙🏼
YUUUGE sound 😅😂🤘🏻
I like the Yoshi pipe on it and I’m glad to see I’m not the only lunatic who parks his bike in the living room 😂
@@ZREXER1250 I rented a mobile home and used to to rebuild bikes and scooters during the winter, the owner got PISSED when he found out about it. I didn't make a mess though I had tarp and cardboard on the floor. Just the smell of oil and gasoline lingered.
Silence with good performance is KING, - I’ll use the $500 for funding my riding adventures. THANKs for CVT and shock mod vids, they RULE THE Day !!!
I just purchased my 1st bike/scooter Honda navi now that I watch you’re vids they going to help me out so much keep up the content 🤝
Heyy! Great video as usual.
I met some of your friends at a Cycle Gear. I could not believe it!
I just wanted to let you know that you're the reason I'm getting into motorcycle.
I'm starting my MSF course soon and I'm very excited.
Anyway, keep it up man. You're awesome.
Thanks for ur video i literally just put it following ur steps and it’s awesome
I’m loving the Navi videos! Keep it up Burch!
Another great video Mike!
Currently saving up for a Navi! Currently half way there. I'm so excited!
Yoshi pipes sounds so good! 😎👌
Ayy that’s sick man!! You’ll have your Navi before you know it! What color are you going with? 🤔
Dont pay more then 2500
They will try to over charge you
Stand firm
Hey Burch I’m new to riding can’t decide to buy a Navi or Grom never ridden before like the video’s
@@dravengore9475, don't pay more than $2300.
Did you get it?
Awesome ordered mine . I will go with silencer.. keep the videos coming.. did u feel a different with new exhaust?
Great video 👍🏼
Great video Burch !!! 🤙🏽
Thanks Marvin! 😎🤘🏻
Looks & sounds great 👍
Love the montage video's mate
I'd go back to stock or see if they have a different silencer because the pipe looks really good on the Navi. Those little single thumpers have a sound to them that is hard to make better. They tune the sound so good in house that aftermarkets usually don't pan out too well unless you want to wear earplugs every time you ride.
Unfortunately this is the only silencer they offer for this muffler 😅 I agree that single thumpers are the WORST for getting any kind of manageable sound out of! My Grom is surprisingly quiet for having an aftermarket exhaust, especially compared to other Groms, so I had hope for this one too. I really want to make it work though because the Yoshi pipe just looks sooo dang good!! 😩
@@LifeOfBurch It is a gorgeous pipe and really finishes the bike off nice. I totally agree when you said in the video how it showcases the single swingarm so good. You may get used to it. When I picked up the Honda Fury it seemed really loud to me at first but now after 5 months I'm used to it....or a little deafer... LOL.
@@LifeOfBurch Did you get the silencer separate, or it comes with it?
@@pmontero13 I bought it separately. This is what I ended up with for the best volume- www.yoshimura-rd.com/collections/all/products/spark-arrester-kit-rs-2-mini-muffler-1-550-ring-sa-23-k
@@LifeOfBurchdo you know if I'll work on a 2023 navi
Dude I like most of your videos and am almost for sure getting a navi or 2 in part cause of your videos ! Now that being said I absolutely love the sound of an awesome loud engine like the rebel 1100 but if it sounds like a super loud fart mobile like some imports. Absolutely prefer it just be quiet, especially if it costs a 3rd of the bike 😂. At any rate though, very informative as usual to not do it my case at least. Thanks!
If you want it a bit more bearable You could always buy an aftermarket ebay silencer that instead of on the muffler it fits in the header where the muffler connect. Not sure which type since there are a ton of different styles and types of universal fitting and shapes not sure how it would affect the Navi 🤔
Great video !!!
The Yoshi RS2 for the Navi weighs 5.0 lbs. total, and removes 6.4 lbs. of useless Honda scrap metal. To make sure you don't need to go up in carb jet size, keep an eye on the condition of your spark plug by checking the tip every +/- 100 miles a few times and if it looks pretty good then drop it down to every +/- 500 miles). It will let you know visually if the Yoshi exhaust has allowed enough increased airflow to result in your AFR running leaner (too lean?) with the new exhaust. This also may be why your "butt dyno" feels like the Navi might be a tad bit less responsive to increased throttle. I'm sure the guys at the Scooter Swap Shop could give you some input also.
Hey, thats me! haha! Great video as always!
When one of my scooter's exhaust needed to be replaced, I only had an $8 lawn mower muffler handy. It looked stupid, but sounded just like this!
Man just put a Yoshi exhaust on the Navi 😭😭 can’t wait to see the race!!
World’s slowest race incoming!! 😎🤘🏻😂
Dude we have the exact same bikes 😎 white 15 grom and brown 22 Navi gotta love Honda minis with Yoshimura exhausts
Mine was $2900 out the door, so an extra $500 isn't too bad to be heard. Could save your life some day
Just installed my Yoshimura exhaust on my Navi. Without any additional inserts, it's SO loud! It rattled my brains on my ride to and from work...and rattled the header nuts right out... Silly me didn't check a torque spec, just cranked em down with my ratchet. Looks like you bought the spark arrestor. Yosh sells a silencer too. I'll be buying the silencer for sure.
The plus side of losing the header nuts is that it gave me a reason to order additional parts since I was already paying for shipping. Bought a Ranger Green headlight surround and silver lower covers from the Ranger Green model (mine is N U T Brown)
That's been my issue with essentially all exhausts I've put on my bikes: they're all too loud. I want an exhaust that's a bit louder than stock, but no matter if I've gone with FMF, Two Bros, Akrapovic or Yoshimura they're all absurdly loud. It's a shame you have to choose between a wheezing stock exhaust or a loud as shit hooligan exhaust. Finding the sweet spot in between these two extremes is very difficult, and every time you try a new exhaust that claims to be less loud you end up spending like 500 dollars only to find out they were lying.
Yea I’ve found that to be mostly true with single cylinder, small CC bikes. It’s nearly impossible to keep them tame, especially once the cat is removed and you’re having to pin it wide open to keep up with traffic. For the Rebel 1100 I’ve found that there’s tons of options that are actually too quiet for my liking 😳 I think lots of it just depends on the bike, and in the Navi’s case I don’t know if anything will be quiet enough to be bearable for me long term.
@@LifeOfBurch You're certainly right about it mostly being an issue with smaller one cylinder bikes. The ones that I've had issues with have all been 400 cc or smaller: a Grom, a CB300F, a Duke 390 and a DRZ400SM.
Someone said the reson for this is that the exhaust manufacturers can't afford to to make a bunch of different size mufflers for all different types of engine types and sizes, so they end up selling a can originally designed for a 400-500 cc engine for bikes as small as the 110 cc Navi.
Buy a mivv exhaust
Try Black Widow?
@@LifeOfBurch Jesus, so I live in a quiet neighborhood and am planning on buying a Navi to commute to and from work. My first plan was an exhaust swap. Should I just skip that then?
Make it loud baby!
I left mine on love it
There is no justice.... the yoshi is insane . My bike sounds like a machine gun on deceleration. So far I have the yoshi with mnnthbx intake and it's amazing... BUT.. go clutch and variator work and then it's on ! Yes it's a small bike and work to get it here , so go big if you want to get nuts.. or navi to have fun working on it
Bro I just watched the video you made a year ago where to got swamp a** on the grom and found it hilarious, did you manage to go full time with youtube like you mentioned in the video? Always wanted a grom and yours looks amazing in white 😁😁
Hahah I forgot about the swamp ass video!! I am indeed full time on RUclips now, but it was more of a “fate” thing. I lost my job last April and just said YOLO and went for it! I’m broke as hell, but happy as hell 😂🤘🏻
I waited to order the baffle. I regret the volume but it sounds so good!
LOVED Nina’s expression!!
Was the yellow on the bolts from something you did before or to help us see in the video? If it was to help us see that is such a genius idea!
To weigh light things on a bathroom scale, you weight yourself, then hold the thing your weighing an weigh yourself again. Wb-Wa=Wc
You should do the scooter swap shop navi carburetor upgrade. really wake up the navi with the new exhaust
Put some glasswool and baffle in the exhaust. Will make a much better sound.
You can also put a pipe inside the silencer, thats slightly longer than the silencer, pushed in the muffler. Will also sound better.
I would've painting the tubes with VHT black, would look great
@lifeofburch, did the new muffler add any speed on your top end? It seems to have added 4 MPH to the top end on mine. Did you do the race?
Big big fan of the small bike life
Probably means that stock the intake is the limiting factor on power. A drz400 gains very little from a pipe unless you do the 3x3 and rejet. 3x3 refers to removing the snorkel from the airbox and enlarging the hole to 3"x3".
A UNI filter and upjet is mandatory for a 50cc
if you take it off ill buy it from you haha =) nice Navi video like always!
Hey I was wondering what ended up being quieter between the silencer or spark arrestor on the Navi exhaust? And did it get rid of the flames and the back firing?
Yup, I sold my yoshi that I had on my grom for the same reason, too damn loud. Went back to stock, even tho too quiet it doesn't hurt my ears.
I have the Yoshimura R-34 on my Rebel 500 and love the shit out of it.
Make sure you're keeping all the old parts - at some point I'll find a Navi frame and come to your house to buy the rest of the pieces :D
I wonder if there's a $100 amazon option, put a little shorty muffler on my crf230, such fun.
I will bet there are jet kits for the Navi or a complete carb that will give you even better performance.
with or without the silencer i didn't notice a single difference by watching it from the video, maybe it's different when you're actually there(?)
Ok yeah, it sounds really good
in my experience, every aftermarket exhaust has different character (low-mid-high sound) but in 1 cylinder bike they have 1 problem: loud 😂😂
I hate being super loud, riding a thumper with a cvt I would be so self conscious LOL. On my VFR at least I know some people like the sound 😅
You should do a performance difference video with it like you have in past videos.
I mentioned that in the outro. That’s coming in the stock Navi vs modified Navi race video 🤘🏻
You should of bought Merritt Billy Perry grips. They're wicked.
Nail polish would cover the chiped paint.
BTW, are there 50-50 dual sport tires available for the Navi ? That would be my last mod for a multi use Navi. That would be a “ good before vs after “ vid given that you use the Navi for off road/trail fun, - just saying…. JP
Aww man wish they had hooked it up with that keychain for the orders I put in
Sounds great to me but I also love loud bikes lol.
hear it too,, can yoiu get a different baffle that bit bigger internally,,
You're going to need a bigger condo if u keep parking the bikes in the living room. Lol.
It doesn’t but it makes it much more entertaining to ride. I just hope you don’t get worse gas mileage. I put a Leo Vince GP Corsa Full System Exhaust on my 2015 honda pcx and it dropped me like 15mpg.
Ooo yea I hadn’t thought about that. I haven’t been seeing anywhere near the claimed MPG as is. But then again for this area you really have to keep it pinned wide open to get anywhere, so I guess that’ll do it.
I want to know where can I find those handle bars :)
The pie cut header pipe, with its welds (apparently) not ground smooth, does not match up with Yoshimura's usual high end fit and finish.
Hey Burch, or anyone on this thread. Has anyone else had issue with the gas line appearing close to the exhaust?
Hotlap type 666 is a better choice.Hand made ,super quality, actually adds performance, and less money. No extra cost for silencer insert either.
Grom or Navi, and why? Looking to buy one or the other just to go around town and have fun with.
Im just waiting for the first big bore kit ,dont know why is taking so long to come out .
Perfect vihicle
So I put mine on and it definitely hurts my ears to ride does the sound restricter/baffle bring it down considerably? Or only a little ? Do you drive yours on the road? I can’t really tell through the video a sound difference
It's popping because now it's running lean with the bigger exhaust !!! You need to up the jet sizes...pilot and main !!!
Did u have to jet the carb after installing exhaust
Where in Calif can you find a Navi for list : or anywhere close.
Looks cool, but I think itd be better suited for something like the rebel.....well on of them anyways. The real question, are you like Natalie Imbruglia Torn or Creed Torn?
It literally sounds exactly the same with or without a silencer
Pretty much 😂
Oh my gosh, dude! 😮
👍🏻
I just recently replaced my navi stock exhaust with Vance & Hines exhaust and noticed it's not getting the top speed. What am I missing? It acceleration seems fine on take off but starts to top off around 35mph any advice?
Vance and Hines is supposed to have a version 2 out for the Navi early March.
Hopefully the don't jack the price up .
Yea apparently some people said their V2 has already been shipped out. I guess they (rightfully) are getting it to the people whose V1 broke, before making it available to the public. That whole ordeal left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’ll never put a V&H on here though. It wasn’t just the flanges cracking off, some people’s mid pipes cracked and others had the baffle break off and shoot out the muffler. They rushed it too much trying to be first to market instead of focusing on quality. Maybe I’ll change my mind once I see the new and improved pipe though, who knows 😅😂
Does it NEED it? No. But are we going to do it anyway? Fuck yeah.
Yea…what he said!! 🤘🏻😂🤘🏻
Nail polish works good for scuffs like that.
I love Yoshis quality, but they're stuff is too loud IMO for most situations
I love it if you decide not to keep it on would you consider selling it.The reduce weight alone . Should be more efficient speed I would love to have one for my Honda Navi. I do not have $500 to buy one maybe I could buy used one
Did you install the egr block off plate from sss for the navi during this install?
No, I’m still not entirely sure what the purpose of that is lol
I'm thinking that the muffler is only friction fitted into place may have something to do with noise volume. Mainly that it isn't sealed. Anyone driving a car with an exhaust leak can attest to the increased noise 🤔
Anyone in the LoB community know of a brown seat and brown grip combo for a Rebel 1100 ? I'm struggling to find any brown seats for a 1100 other tha the Honda diamond stich one.
Yes
What about the lack of a burn shield?
This sounds identical to my crf110 with an fmf exhaust lol
Kinda want to get one for my trail 125 but they're $800
I’m going to leave stock exhaust. I did intake, clutch, variator and buying the R1 camshaft and calling it a day. My Grom is loud asf and gives me a headache.
Hey Burch, thanks for the rad review. We do make a spark arrestor for the RS-2. Shoot us your addy and we will send you one to try.
BTW do you live in a Country Club?
I appreciate the offer, but I already have a spark arrestor/silencer in this. I mentioned buying it and showed its box at the beginning of the video actually. I bought it directly through your website and installed it at 13:23 in this video. There’s even clips in this video comparing the sound with the spark arrestor vs without lol
@@LifeOfBurch What you had installed in is a low volume insert. We can send you a spark arrestor that should lower the volume even more if you shoot us your address in a Insta DM.
@@YoshimuraUSA interesting…I assumed we were talking about the same thing since what I have is the only insert listed on your website for the Navi. I’ll DM you guys now!
@yoshimuraUSA @LifeOfBurch
Would it work for a 2023 Navi? Your website says I won't. Only 2022, I have been looking, but there's no difference
@@pmontero13 yes it will fit
I like how quiet my navi is.
Does it give it any more speed??
Who cares what people think about a Yoshimura exhaust on your Navi! I think it’s cool, and besides do it makes you happy life’s too short it’s your life your journey you add value not peoples opinions, but like I said, I think it’s cool, so that’s positive the sound helps. Keep you safe it save me a couple of time also wear earplugs if it’s too loud for you at the CMSP training, they tell you where your plugs to protect your hearing. Besides, that’s why they call it “customizing” when you add your own personal touch. It’s a personal to you. And if you don’t like the logo on that piece of metal, paint over it., That’s custom! 😊 nice video! This stuff is cool! Yo, Yoshi quality for sure!!!
Pretty slick but probably not great for stealthy navi shenanigans 😆
Ha! This is dope man!
What you can do is just weigh yourself, then weigh each muffler and subtract. I do it with my dogs since theyre barely 15 pounds
tuned performance exhaust ! try less throttle?
