Well the truth is that's pretty much how things pan out between the two.
Before 2014 I was completely Apple biased
Between 2014 and 2019 I was completely android biased. And within the past year I've calmed down and allowed myself to see the best that both offer and understanding what the cons are and what that means for me in everyday use. I do still lean towards and prefer android but I'm not as dogmatic about it. I'm always looking to see what Apple is doing and their next advancement. And actually tried out the SE2 for about 3-4 weeks and actually enjoyed it. The battery was probably the biggest reason I didn't keep it but I did enjoy it nevertheless.
And one thing is for sure. I have tried out multiple watches better suited for Android and then I recently tried out the Watch Series 5 for about a month while I had the SE2 and although it slightly pains me to say it, their watches are definitely more superior. Their integration is absolutely fluid and if there was ever a reason for me to completely switch back to Apple it would be because of their watch.
But for now I still use Android as my daily driver. And a lot of that simply has to do with preference. I know a lot Android users don't like iPhones because they tend to be bland in their year after year typical design with subtle changes and that's true to some extent.
But with that being said, there are a lot of things I like about both Apples and Oranges.

Switched from Android to Apple years ago. Was never tempted to go back. I never really cared about all the customization. For me, it all boiled down to ease of use, security, and compatibility. I have Apple everything in my home and it just works. Everything gets on time updates! No problem moving files around and sharing documents because just about everyone I know owns an iPhone! I’m currently rocking the iPhone XR and I dig it. I use just about every feature on this thing and I get stuff done. Walled garden? Sure, but I don’t feel closed off one bit.

I've gone back and forth precisely because each platform has something I like, but also lacks something I like. However, I've pretty much settled on iPhone. Overall, there's just more things I like about iOS that are things I use my phone for on a daily basis. Plus, knowing I'll be getting updates for five plus years is pretty nice. Updates on Android have to go through too many middle men before they make it to my phone, and each of them blame the other for the delay--especially true for Samsung.

    • @jeanbaptistelabelle
      @jeanbaptistelabelle 3 года назад

Well, what a 5 years iPhone 7 is offering you on iOS 14 that a Samsung S8 "stuck" on Oreo does not?
This is a must on iOS because apps only update once a year with the OS. On Android, updates come from the playstore so this is egal what is the OS version. Honestly, just got Android Pie on my Samsung and the differences are absolutely minimal.

For the longest time, I've said Android > Apple for a lot of the reasons you said here. I thought I was cool and getting a better deal for having all these dope widgets, customization options, flipping cameras etc.
Now that I'm older (mid 20's), it really becomes clear that all those things are just gimmicks to sell the phone, those are simply preferences that don't determine whether or not Android is better than Apple. It didn't help my early stance that the specs for Android phones on paper are always much better than iPhones, but in practical use and day-to-day activity, those insane spec differences become obsolete. I've had an iPhone for almost a year now and I can say coming from an S20+, that my iPhone 11 Pro with less RAM, memory, display quality is much better with basic tasks that I need a phone to do. The native apps with iPhone are also objectively better than Android, iMessage alone should be a much bigger deal than people think it is. If you want a folding phone with a better mobile pay with less optimized apps cool, that's a preference. But if you just need a phone to be a phone and do it really well, iPhone hands down.

Shane H That’s true with Samsungs - I’m a former Galaxy Note 5 owner who _loved_ using SmartSwitch - but def not with ALL Android phones/devices.
My MacBook doesn’t recognize my Pixel XL at ALL when it’s physically connected; it won’t even charge it 🤦‍♂️🤬 Maybe Windows machines interface better with Pixel; I have no way of knowing for sure, since I moved to Mac in 2016.
But yeah it’s a hassle because anything that didn’t automatically transfer from the Note to the Pixel through the cloud, I had to do slowwwly via Bluetooth (I first tried moving things manually into Google Drive from the Note, and most wound up becoming corrupted/unreadable; not sure why).
I _far_ prefer Android as a daily driver OS, but I know if I moved from Note to iPhone, the Mac would’ve interfaced directly with the iPhone and there likely wouldn’t have been any data transfer issues. It’s just very weird and annoying how switching /upgrading from one Android phone to another is a hassle, at least for Mac users. 😩

The greater the customization, the more clunky the processing. In the end, what sets iOS apart from Android is the app optimization that doesn’t have to account for 100 different handsets and configurations. Couple that with seamless integration between devices and all the cool stuff you can do with Android doesn’t come close to making up for its unreliable performance. Why I’m switching to iOS after being an Android guy since Droid Incredible. 😎

It's true having Apple TV's and macs, things are just easier and the phone doesn't require much tinkering around just do get a simple tasks done. There's a big reason why high level people, celebrities, executives, mostly have iPhones. It just works and is very secure. But I am still conflicted because of all the things great about a Samsung phone, especially a Note device. I also think a lot of it has to do with status and psychology of owning an iPhone. I used Apple Pay all the time, but haven't bothered with Smasung Pay since I switched back to my S21. And I've set one theme, a dark one, and one icon pack the whole time I've had the phone. Now, the app experience has been less polished than on my iPhone. I'm not a brand fan, but I'll go with one if I like the actual phone and it's feature set. I'm eye-balling the iPhone 12 Pro and the Watch SE currently (training for a marathon, and the friends I have that use those devices paired up seem to have a MUCH better experience logging and training tracking, so...).

iPhone is great, for those that trust security blinded, you can't even see the servers that each app uses to send/receive data. On Android you can see that, you can block part of the servers that an app uses.

I've been trying to find the words to describe Android vs iPhone and the best way to describe it is that Android is like a single parent and theirs bad single parents and theirs good single parents. The iPhone ecosystem is like a strict mother who lots of rules and closes apps like someone turning lights off once you leave the room. My biggest problem with the iPhone is that apps aren't really allowed to work in the background like if you're downloading a RUclips video or a podcast

The newer iphones doesn't support messenger chatheads or any overlapping apps. Control center is limited and iTunes suck. I tried iphone 11 pro for 1-2 days and afterwards gave up when restoring photos was a pain in ass and as mentioned no file browsing when connecting iphone to PC.

Good video but I would suggest actually setting up your Apple Pay. It’s accepted anywhere that takes tap and most online (I’ve only found 1 or 2 places that don’t) it has stronger encryption. With Face ID, it scans so fast. I don’t get the files issue you talked about? I run everything through cloud based systems and access it through the files apps. I haven’t plug into a computer in 3 years to transfer anything. Yes I do video and photography work so I understand file transfer speeds and size. I think you just might not be using them to their best their ability.

Maybe I don't understand what always on display means... but I have an old ipad and I just put in the settings to never go to sleep mode ( unless I physically lock it). Do iPhones not have that? Or is always on display different than i think it is?
