Great video! Do you know how to type on a keyboard for WiFi on cars that don’t a have a touch screen? I have a 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback
I bought the product and it works. It's a bit slow but gets the job done.
If you don't have a touch screen, buy a small usb keyboard that works on Android systems. Without it, you won't be able to enter your Netflix, Spotify, or RUclips details. You can even have IPTV!!

On my 2019 Audi A5 the touchpad doesn't work - I am unable to do most actions in the android system (for example connect to wifi). If I enter CarPlay it just lags and stutters. Completely unusable, so be careful before you purchase.
Does it play when driving in the other cars?
have you tried the magic box 2.0? i seen it works better swiping left to right with acura’s trackpad. might have to make the dpi smaller to fit the screen.

Why youtube stopped working after a couple hours. Says update but just goes to main screen when clicking. Any suggestions?

I think Ottocast looking at the replies is it is very dodgy with a lot of issues! It only works for some with a lot of people having issues and no product support. I’m one of those with a dodgy unit and poor support and finding it very hard to get my money back, typical of Chinese products, what’s sad is they pretend not to be based in China.
In an everyday scenario: What happens if you turn off the car while are on the Android Auto split screen with waze and spotify playing, then you come back later, turn on the car: does it go automatically to the android auto split screen? And does it resume music automatically?
I don’t have an android so I can’t comment on the split screen option
@@503pdxCars Same thing for iPhone. I mean does it boot on the Ottocast AOSP screen or does it boot on carplay with your map and music if it was the last screen you used before turning off?
@@stormriderfpv it boots to CarPlay if that was the last application I was using. If not CarPlay then it boots to the ottocast home screen
I wish with our TLX Type S true touch pad it would just work like our wired CarPlay to move around instead of that mouse.

Bought the Play to Video adapter.. easy to hookup.I have wifi in my 23 Toyota Highlander, so that's helpful. I cannot get Android Auto to work. It says to connect my phone to the device, but my phone is already connected. Any suggestions? I'm posting to the official Ottocast Facebook group as well

This only works when a car has factory wired CarPlay. You’d need an aftermarket solution for the RLX like the Grom unit or Navtool etc
I have a 2024 Civic that uses a touchscreen; how responsive is the RUclips and Netflix connection? And when you’re playing regular music (in the Apple Music app), can you switch songs using the steering wheel control?
Responsive in terms of what? I tried to show real time/real world switching between the apps and their utilization. It’s not like an iPad but for the head units in our cars they work pretty well. Yes you can switch songs from the steering controls.
Does Netflix and YT only work thru carplay and iPhone only? My phone is android and I can get android auto but no Netflix or YT.
Netflix and YT are stand alone apps with the unit! As long as you have internet to the unit (hot spot) they will work!
Any delays with the sound when you are playing RUclips video mate?
There is a lag like any wireless adapter/OEM wireless option from the sound with the phone etc however I will say the sound/mouth delay on RUclips and Netflix is minimal, and not overly noticeable
Will this work in the 2024 Acura integra type s?
I have wireless carplay and android auto, I just want to be able to run RUclips, Hulu, and Netflix.
Yah, it works on my Integra Type S without any issue
Can you screen mirror your iPhone ? Can you add a usb with movies to play off of ?
There are additional models that allow additional features. This one is a budget friendly way to have RUclips and Netflix apps readily available mostly

No, the ottocast dongle has a WiFi antenna in it
@503pdxcars, Are you saying that this device has built in wifi so I wouldn't have to subscribe to let's say Verizon, t-mobile, xfinity, AT&T for wifi? If yes, how strong is the signal and whose network am I on for wifi service.
You have to connect it to some WiFi for the RUclips and Netflix to work

I can connect to the ottocast no issues and get Android auto or carplay but there isn't Netflix or RUclips etc available. Am i doing something wrong?
Likely you did not get the model with those pre installed apps
Mine will not connect for wireless CarPlay. You have any advice? It also disconnect from internet when I try to clip the car play app. It connects to Bluetooth but will not do wireless CarPlay
My only advice is to reach out to the company for support.

is the Ottocast connected via wireless hotspot from phone or can it connect via bluetooth from the phone?
Internet wise it connects via the hotspot on your phone (or car; if equipped)

You should check their website for compatibility. I do not own a 2017 Honda Civic so I’m unsure.

Which vehicle are you referring to? The screen display is full on every model
So you have to connect the ottocast to your phone hotspot?
You have to connect it to an internet source to use the youtube/netflix applications. You do NOT have to connect it to a hotspot for the wireless carplay/android auto

My TLX had the mouse natively. I didn’t do anything to make that happen; it was just there

Does CarPlay work on your rear screens? If not then it won’t work
Anywhere that you have a usb feed to a monitor it should work
I can’t connect to my CarPlay. It connected the first time but now it doesn’t. It’s connect via Bluetooth but when I do CarPlay it tells me to connect from Bluetooth but it’s already connected.
I’d try reaching out to ottocast for support and troubleshooting. I’ve had no Bluetooth or CarPlay hiccups, just need to wait about 30 seconds between switching connections
Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I’m having the same issue; CarPlay worked initially. After watching a few minutes of Netflix, CP will not work anymore; keeps saying connect to Bluetooth even though it is. Everything else seems to work except CarPlay. iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Otherwise than the Netflix and RUclips, can other I install other media apps like Crave, Plex, and Disney+ on that device?
Not in this device but on the higher end models you can download apps from the android App Store

I have a 2017 maxima and doesn’t work in my car at all. I had the u2 air model which worked fine. I brought this one bc I wanted Netflix and RUclips but for some reason even when I connected play2video my car saying starting car play then it doesn’t recognize the device. Any suggestion before I give up and send it back
No, I don’t, wish I had some ideas but I haven’t had any issues with mine
I bought the OttoCast U2 Air Pro lasted less than a week. Their support is atrocious, it’s seriously bad. Dozens of emails, their money back guarantee doesn’t exist, it’s been 2 months of emails without any success. They finally promised to send after a month of emails, still not sent. It’s beyond a joke.

I bought the Video2player, same! Doesn’t work and no reply, after 5 emails and waiting 3 weeks they sent me a video in Chinese with Chinese writing, totally useless. They told my wife they were based in Newcastle Australia hence why she bought it first me. Truth is they are only based in China and sell dodgy products, I have had 2 technicians look at it and they say the units are hopeless. I’m trying to return it for a refund but Ottocast just won’t return my emails

@@RichardMarkowski I emailed the, multiple times and then posted my reviews on numerous sites, they then sent me a replacement. They have a money back guarantee but do not honor it. They have an Australian distributor who I contacted however they did want anything to do with the head office. Start sending them li is to your reviews..good luck mate
Same! Just got mine in the mail and I can’t figure the fucker out for shit! Half ass instructions and the shit will not connect to use Netflix or RUclips even though it say Bluetooth connected…

There are a variety of different options but should be on the main screen if your unit has it
The problem is you need WiFi to play Netflix and yt . If you connect your mobile, your android auto knocks off . So it's kinda catch 22. Anyone with this problem ?
Yes that’s how it functions. Mine switches between hotspot for the apps then back to the phone for CarPlay
You definitely DO NOT want Ottocast!!!
Their customer service is terrible and not responsive!! Very difficult to update and nearly impossible!!

I’m not sure what video you’re referring to, mine plays any of the apps and will screen mirror video off my iPhone

Please DON'T buy this item. Total waste of your money. The display resolution of your factory OEM CarPlay or Android Auto will be much less than the OEM. Also, the unit gets very high temperatures which is quite dangerous for having it in any glove box. Better stay away from the OTTOCAST company that does not follow their returns policy. They are just losers.
