- My brother applies his first ceramic coating! In this video, you will see my brother apply a multi-year paint protection in the form of a ceramic coating. He will apply the AvalonKing Armor Shield IX coating onto his 2020 Mazda CX-5 vehicle in order to protect the exterior surfaces for years to come. He has no detailing experience, so hopefully you will be able to see how simple this paint protection is to apply and be able to do this at home on your own car!

Hey pan, quick question, between the Avalon king and cquartz sic, which would you say has more gloss?
Question. Do I need to clean the foam maker inside the foam cannon regularly? I am using MaxShine snow foam cannon
ill try it out. i need something better than meguiars wax
Great to see 2 adult brothers so close and having a good time...and detailing !!😀
😁👍🏻
You can tell at the end of the video, the smile on your brothers face tells it all!!! Always enjoy when Andy graces us in the Pan videos, hope to see more of them!!!
Thanks Mike! Yeah he was super happy with a job well done and with the results. Nothing more gratifying than seeing the result of your own hard work. :)
@@PanTheOrganizer the best feeling!!
It is always a pleasure to see your brother, Andy, on a Pan the Organizer video! Andy did a great job applying the AvalonKing coating on his 2020 Mazda CX-5 vehicle. Fantastic gloss ! Andy's Mazda looks great. Please consider having Andy come back for a video on cleaning and protecting the interior of his vehicle.
Awesome! Thank you!
Used Avalon King last year on my black 4Runner. I live just west of Toronto and am in Construction equipment sales so it gets dirty quickly. Mostly use touchless car washes and it still beads water and shines. Even when it is dirty, it still shines (hard to describe). When I go through car washes, most of the time it doesn't remove all dirt. Then I will dry it with a microfibre cloth (I know I shouldn't do it) but after a year of our weather and washing this way, it still beads water and man does it ever shine. Deep, rich black shine. Highly recommend this product. Super easy to install.
It’s great that You’re close with Your brother! He did a fine job coating His vehicle under Your supervision! It’s always great to see Him on the channel 😎😃Andy’s Mazda looks wet! Super glossy and protected. I have to use those three bottles I bought a ways back(Thanks for the discount code). Another fine video, Pan. Have a terrific weekend!
Thanks Jay! Me and my bro are really close and he's such a great guy!
Great job Andy!!!! I applied this to my wife's car and she knows nothing about detailing and even she said WOW! What a nice shine and it feels smooth. So I guess she liked it too.
Thats great to hear!!
That was paaaaaaaaaaaantastic to see your brother, great job on making the car look paaaantastic
Glad you enjoyed it
for those who are wondering what the previous protection was, it's The Last Coat - Black ICE ceramic spray sealant
Correct. It was nice to see it lasted almost a full year on a daily driver that has been through Montreal winters! I was super happy with the performance.
Great video Pan! Love that you and your brother got to share this together. Ironically my 22 year old son asked me a few days ago if I would teach him how to ceramic coat, made me very proud. Keep up the incredible work.
Thanks!
I just applied this coating on my car this weekend and so far it looks amazing I’m so excited I can’t wait to see it outside once it cures
Keep us posted Josh!!
Nice to see a brother to brother doing this kind of things together. . Love to all
Thanks! We get along so well !! He's always fun to have around.
I would like to see you ans Andy do a interior detail on his Cx-5
I would still love to see Andy with some high tech products face off with Pan with lower grade products in a detail competition.
Andy’s smile looking at the final results says it all. Great Video 👍🏽
Thanks Butch! Yeah he was so happy!
Nice video and great to see Andy again.
Brings back the memories when I did my first coating. I did it outdoors and man did I make a mess of it. When buffing down, it all seemed good but when I managed to inspect the job couple weeks later in a proper lighting, I saw that I had smears and high spots on pretty much every panel. It all had to come off and be redone. So word to the wise - if you want to do it outdoors, make sure that you have good lighting conditions and proper inspection light. Dark shadows and complex reflections like leafy greens, shrubs, dark walls make it next to impossible to properly evaluate the work you are doing.
That Ceramic Prep Shampoo is a bit of a problematic product. When you consider a life expectancy of a coating, then all the rest of that bottle will go off before you have a chance to use that again. They should include one time packet of that soap in their DIY kit. Personally, I have only used one shampoo that actually strips and preps, that being Meguiar's Wash Plus. All those other shampoos are a nice thought and certainly a bit stronger than your average garden variety, but they are nowhere near as potent to strip a sealant that is anything but nearly dead. Wash Plus has microabrasives which literally polish any sealant off the car as you wash. I tested it on freshly applied, two layer Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Sealant. Couple of passes with a mitt and the sealant was completely killed. Any other strip wash that I know of wouldn't have even put a dent in it.
I especially like the place where you discard the used towels. It illustrates how deficient those DIY/Starter kits are (not just AvalonKing, all of them). They give you a single towel and expect you to cover entire vehicle with it. I can bet money on that one will make a mess of it if they try to do a whole vehicle with just one towel. I know couple of people who did their coating with a single towel and swore that the finish is perfect. Sure, when you look at it in poor lighting it might seem so, but when I took my inspection light to these, it was a complete butcher shop. Both cars obviously light colored, because the darker you go, the less leniency you will get.
And one more thing about towels. If you are a driveway detailer then odds are that you dont have a stack of quality microfiber for all kinds of different tasks. in that case, I wouldn't discard the buffing cloths. Just put them in to an APC solution immediately after you are done using them and then give them a good machine wash in few hours. Of course, do not wash them with your regular cloths, only separately. After that, they are perfectly suitable for relegation to destructive cleaning tasks; just don't use them on your paint. I like to use these cloths for footwell lining and wipedown when I clean pedals with APC, engine bay cleaning or tire wipe. Basically all those tasks where micromarring is not a concern. You can even use them for interior plastics if cloth is clean enough and not hardened with ceramics. And they seem to get better with every wash which is only logical. The more you use and wash those cloths, the more you break down and dislodge the dried ceramics from that cloth. I have tons of different microfiber cloths for all kinds of purposes, but I still find an area where to use those ceramic wipedown cloths. No need to trash a good, clean cloth for those dirtiest jobs when you have something that fits the bill and has no value elsewhere. But I guess for an average enthusiast, it is better to advise them to discard the cloth rather than risk damage due to lack of judgement.
Great video Pan! I'd like to see you teach your brother how to polish paint using a D/A. It'd be great to see how a beginner reacts to using the machine and hear his thoughts on the process.
Have had Armour shield on my car now for 6 months after seeing it on Pan. It is so easy to clean and the beading, sheeting and gloss is incredible. People keep asking me if I have a new car and I explain it is three years old!!
Thanks for your real world feedback Michael!
You got me. I had been thinking about the DIY ceramic coat route for a bit and this video finally did me in. I used your link and went through the whole process. Turns out, I'm very slow. I purposefully wanted to take my time, and with a few breaks, the whole process took me close to 6 hours! From first wash to final wipe. But oooohhhh was it worth it. My Genesis GV80 is two tone with a vinyl wrap + the factory paint and it just turned out beautifully. The ease of the next wash (1 week later) was just crazy. Water seems allergic to the ceramic coat. Thanks for the great content.
Thanks for the feedback! And congrats on your new GV80! Those look classy! What color is yours?
And no worries in taking time to do it right. Enjoying the process and seeing the satisfying results is what it’s about! 👍🏻
@@PanTheOrganizer Adriatic Blue from the factory with a satin silver vinyl wrap on top. Classy is exactly what I was after. That 911 Turbo S though??? Thats little bit classy and a little bit naughty. She's a beaut! At some point during those 6 hours though, I did have that feeling of... "what have I got myself into!" But yes, the results were worth the effort. Now having done it once and knowing what to expect, I could do better the next go around.
Awesome! And yeah I’m enjoying every minute with my Turbo S!! 😁👍🏻
Did you beat up Andrew as kids, or was it the other way around? Love Pan, love Andrew, lol. Aloha guys!
😂😂👍🏻
Great video Pan, your brother should be proud of himself he did a great job!
I think so too!
I was freaking out while he was applying the ceramic coating. Thinking he wasn't using enough or not buffing or not leveling fast enough. To my amazement, it came out completely fine! I'm totally sold now. I was so worried that I would apply this incorrectly and ruin my paint. Thanks Pan and Andy!
This is the easiest consumer grade coating you can apply. Very forgiving.
How did you discover my channel by the way?
Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on RUclips as we surpassed 855,000 subscribers and 108 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
@@PanTheOrganizer Wow, I'm surprised you replied to my response, thank you! I've actually been following your content for a few years now, but finally subscribed last week. Much like your waffle weave loom towels do with absorption, I do the same with information around cars lol. I mostly watch Car Cleaning Guru's content and yours as I feel you both give the most detail with your examples. I've always had a detailer come to my place and work on my vehicle, but I love doing things myself so I'm finally taking the plunge! Going to do a full detail with ceramic coat. Hopefully everything goes over well since it's a GTR lol.
Cool car! And yes you're at the right place for sure to learn everything about detailing. Joe (Car Cleaning Guru) is a great guy, and I met him in person in an event a few years ago, and interviewed him here: ruclips.net/video/qAC6Vqm1dyc/видео.html
@@PanTheOrganizer That's awesome. Going to check it out now. Thanks!
Awesome, bought this coating a few weeks back for my VFR 1200, but have not yet gotten into it.
Awesome to get the proper technique watching you do it first Pan, thanks!
Great to hear!
Very nice to see your brother apply the coating. He looked like a pro 👍👏👏😁. So, updates and maintenance washes on this vehicle with your brother would be wonderful. I bought two avalon king ceramic packages, a couple of months ago, to apply on my vehicles as soon as the current coatings wear off. Greetings from Sweden!
Looking forward to seeing your results!
Thanks Mimmi!! Cheers from Canada!
Excellent demonstration of how easy this coating is. My order just came in from Avalon King but I haven’t tried it out yet. Curious to see how it compares to CK 3.0
Can´t wait for you to try it....We are pretty sure we will win ,)
UK 3.0 definitely has better beading and sheeting(more hydrophobic), but Avalon looks to be somewhat easier to apply.
Those are quite possibly my two favourite consumer grade ceramic coatings. I have been using CQUK 3.0 for years now and it has always won first place in my annual car detailing products awards video. I have been using AvalonKing for less than a year so far, and so far so good. I will probably make a one year update video soon. Will it make my 2021 car detailing products awards? Stay tuned to find out! :)
Thanks for linking me over to this vid Pan. Your brother made it look easy peasy sure enough. I think I'm sold on AK Armor Shield IX now. Will be doing this project in the spring. I have a 2-4 month window of healing from rotator cuff surgery first. So plenty time to watch more videos and learn. Thanks Pan for the education and giving me confidence that I can do this myself.
Thanks for the feedback! And I hope your healing will go well.
Great job Pan 👏. Another reason why I watch your content. To show that even the novice can apply a coating 👍. Again keep up the good work.
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Pan, it’s incredible how you look after both the professional and DIY detailer. Great to see Andrew again on your show. Have a great weekend.
Have Andrew on more often to give a representative for the DIY.
Thanks William!! Have a great weekend too!
I was surprised how easy Avalon was to put on! Unfortunately immediately after I put it on I had to put brakes on my nephews car, and move my car outside. This ceramic coating stays tacky for quite a while (more than a couple hours). Dust got on my new ceramic coating, it wasn't visible but it wasn't really slick either. Fortunately after the first hand wash it was much better and is as it should be now. I'm sure that if you looked at it with a magnifying glass it would show but it's good enough for me.
Great video! Would love to see your brother back for a "maintenance wash" to see what us amateurs should expect in that process as well. THANKS!
Thanks! More videos coming with my brother so stay tuned. I think my viewers really liked the perspective of a beginner in detailing.
Love your video’s, add Andy and this was over the top. Andy made applying the coating look so real world easy.
Thanks Pete!
Your brother was great. I am doing this tomorrow and now feel confident. Great video.
You can do it!
That was awesome! This is definitely going to inspire me to do my own ceramic coating. Thanks for the link, Pan!
Thanks for watching!
Can you just soak the towels in some water with dedicated microfiber soap instead of tossing them away?
No. And I wouldn't risk that with full blown coatings in glass bottles. Just throw them away, or downgrade them for engine bay cleaning or some other dirty job. Not for use on paintwork or delicate surfaces.
This is a great product. Applied it in the hot Florida sun and it came out great.
Thanks for sharing! How did you discover my channel?
@@PanTheOrganizer Been so long I don't even remember.
Merci Pan 🙏👍🙋♂️
I have purchased the Ceramic Coating and look forward to applying it.. if it stops raining long enough.
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you!
What can I say, another great how to video. You and Andy hit it out of the park with this one I couldn't wait to to see the results. I think a star is born, Pan you better watch out, Andy maybe taking over. Great job again! Wish you both well and can't wait for the next video. Peace and love.
Hehe thanks Jose!
Awesome! Can’t wait for the next year’s detailing season 👍🏻 💕

Awesome Video Pan with Andy. You both have a wonderful bond and love for each other. I have my AvalonKing Armor Shield and will apply when I get home from vacation. You ask what would be fun to have Andy in another video with you. I personally LOVED your reaction when you took us on that ride in your New Porsche. Would love to see you set up the camera so we could see Andy's reaction when you LAUNCH... and drive around giving him some G force reactions. What do you think Pan? Barry from the Show-Me State.. I will also be applying my ceramic coating on my Harley Davidson Road Glide. God Bless from the USA!
Great way to bond with your bro Pan! Looks like you both had fun and Andy's car shines. Cheers!!
Ordered the kit just now. Great discount! Can’t wait to get it and try it out! Thanks Pan!
Enjoy! 👍🏻
Awesome video Pan! Your brother did an amazing job coating his CX-5! Good to see Andy back on the channel as well, always great to see you guys making videos together!
Thanks!
Loved the video today with your brother. I only have the Armor IX on my new wheels. Not sure about doing my vehicle. Still worry about scratches or switls, water spotting etching into the coating and needing to fix it. My 2020 is a daily driver. Using twax flex currently but getting ready to to do a paint correction on it where i scratched the hood pretty good.
Loved this video because of the Avalon King product and you showing the human side with your brother of the car detailing business. I detailed a 2018 Range Rover yesterday and the owner tells me he had paid $1,200. when he purchased the vehicle for what the dealership called a permanent wax!!! I have never heard of that.
Have you ever heard of a permanent wax?
The owner indicated his Range Rover was difficult to wash, had to get the crime off the paint, etc, etc.
I addressed that and he drove off with a gigantic smile on his face.
Lol there is no such thing as a permanent wax. The majority of car dealerships sell crap products. High profit, cheap quality. What they are selling mostly is the warranty.
I would always recommend that a car buyer tells the dealership not to apply anything. The owner of the car should do it himself or bring it to a trusted car detailer.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks man. As I suspected, their is no such a thing as permanent anything!! Stay cool..and stay safe.
Andy did a awesome job on his Mazda SUV. That Avalon king is pretty amazing stuff. The simplicity is outstanding considering what you get. You guys are pretty funny together, looking forward to more videos.

Your brother did a great job! Fantastic shine.
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful video Pan. I’ve been binge watching your channel and learning a ton. I just ordered this product two days ago and I already got my email that the product has shipped. Thanks for the discount code!
Cool! How did you discover my channel by the way?
@@PanTheOrganizer I just bought a black 2016 Ram 2500 truck and went straight to RUclips to learn how to remove swirl marks. Your channel was one of the first to show up and now it has inspired me to do more detailing. The paint correction went great but I used too much Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray coating. (I've since rewatch that video and you did warn not to use too much) So I'm planning machine buffing with a polish and using the Armor Shield 9 this time. Thanks Again!
Don't forget to use an IPA or paint prep spray after polishing, to remove all polishing oils and residue before applying Armor Shield 9. AvalonKing now have their own IPA paint prep spray too. I talk about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/bJQf-sIwnX4/видео.html
Great to see Andy again. This will be a great test car because I guess it won’t me getting washed every week and we will be able to see real world durability. How about getting Andy to do the inside of his car.
Discounts and sales, anything that saves me money is
Great job Andy! I have the exact same vehicle. Would love to see an interior detail of his Mazda. Would love to know what product/products you recommend for cleaning smudges off the black interior. I find those hard to remove on the soft touch material. Thanks!
Good video. Gave me confidence to do it. I’d love to see your brother again - Next time I’d like to see him apply a wax using a polisher.
Thanks!
I just finished applying Avalon King to my wife’s SUV. It looks incredible but it not a slick as I expected.. (I was using BeadMaker prior to this).
Yeah Bead Maker is one of the slickest products you can apply so that makes sense. But the AvalonKing will last a lot longer.
Two weeks after you applied the AK coating, you can wash your car and start using Bead Maker on top for more gloss and slickness.
Excellent video and excellent job Andy! This is tempting me very much to try this on my new A4!
Hi Pan just wondering do you need to do a panel wipe IPA before using a carnauba wax same as a ceramic coating, also from your first AK demo I purchased AK Armour Shield and applied it on one of our cars so easy to use and BRILLIANT result thanks to P the O and AK
It’s not necessary to IPA before a wax but always a good idea if you want it to last longer. The cleaner the surface, the better the bond.
Calvin seems like a very nice man. GREAT JOB!
Always good to learn how to apply. Next you can show him how to do a paint correction 👍
Awesome content, love the channel. Question. It looks like AvalonKing does not suggest a topper. Why is that and would there be any issues using a topper? I’d prefer a topper because it makes sense but just weird they say you don’t need one.
It's not that they don't suggest using one, it's just not needed according to them. But I still recommend that my viewers apply some form of silica spray sealant as a topper once every 2 to 3 months like for any ceramic coating, to maintain properties and durability and also help prevent water spotting.
I have put AvalonKing Armor Shield IX on my vehicle and love the results. this being the Labor Day weekend I am considering buying more. However, what I see available here in Canada is only the Armor Shield IX! no other chemicals in the AvalonKing Lineup. Disappointing!
It seems the labor day sale was crazy and of course my video drove sales to even more insane levels. I know AvalonKing are working as fast as possible to restock, so hopefully they'll have stuff for Canada soon.
i like how somehow you managed to have the porsche make a cameo appearance at the end :)
🤣👍🏻
Think we should see Andy do a maintenance wash on the vehicle using your tips and tricks and how to clean it like a professional
We did a video like that for his previous car here: ruclips.net/video/DBJ5ZLMjcrg/видео.html
If you were to do the trim but it needed to be restored... could you use the Cera Trim and then use Armor IX on top of that?
No. And anyhow CeraTrim is all you would need as it offers ceramic protection as well in it.
Très bonne vidéo Pan toujours cool de voir ton frère et ça nous démontre qu’avec les bon produit pas besoin d’être un professionnel 👌🏻👌🏻
Just checked and your pan25 $25 off discount code still works. $49.98 usd for the diy kit.
Yes it should be valid for a long time.
Hey Pan, another great video. The close relationship between you and your brother is special and a joy to watch. Praise God!
I was wondering how well this Avalon King coating would work when using the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Line polish for black vehicles as the point correction stage? Would they be compatible? I have 2 black vehicles that I've used the Hybrid Solutions Line on in the past, they came out great but did not last as they were not properly maintained. Back to tons of water spots and swirls/scratches. 🙄 My hard work gone to waste.
Already ordered a bottle of the coating using the promotion, a GREAT deal/bang for the buck!
By the way, I'm still enjoying the GlassParency graphene coating (PTO limited edition labeling) on my personal vehicle... The GLOSS and BEADING !!!😎
I wouldn’t combine those as the TW black polish leaves a bit of protection that might interfere with the proper bonding of ceramic coatings. That TW polish is meant to be followed with compatible products like the TW Ceramic Acrylic Black Spray Wax or the TW Ceramic Spray Coating.
@@PanTheOrganizer thanks Pan, that's what I was thinking too. I'm glad I double checked.
Merci Pan!!! Amazing video Andy 🤩 Superb job and results. Thank you so much 😇

Hi PAN, Love from India. Needed few Info -
1. The Prep work, how can I achieve in Indian Roads.(literally if you can help us out in Iron and Chemical contamination, any diy) many of these products are not available here. Good that Avalon king ships to India.
2. I have a new Car 2 months old. can we skip the Polishing and compounding steps.
3. Will 99 percent Isopropyl alcohol should be used for IPA wash.
4. Can we use WD40 for prepwash (iron decontamination).
All your videos on car detailing is too good. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Here’s what I do to a brand new car: ruclips.net/video/etXhJNaF0EE/видео.html
I loved the video as usual. It was great to see Andy doing the ceramic coating. It really lets you know that anyone can do it. I always think that I will never get this ceramic coating thing down. But I will try it now. I would love to see Andy do some polishing. That would be great. Thanks for making it a real world video if that made sense. Lol. Just something to let you know that anyone can do it. How can people give the video a thumbs down? Well everyone has their opinion but I LOVE PAN AND HIS VIDEOS!! Keep them coming.
Thanks man! I appreciate it!

Great job Andy the Mazda looks awesome!
Pan I really like seeing all your sprayers facing the same direction! :)
That's mainly thanks to you bro! I got your sprayer OCD !! :)
@@PanTheOrganizer It looks so much better like that!
Great video thank you for the real world coaching of the application.
Thanks for the positive feedback Philip!
pan, i enjoyed the video of you and your brother applying the avalon ceramic coating. even though i am 78 yrs old i am encouraged to try this out on my new vechicle. pan i am confused on one point. you have told us to de ironize and use clay to clean the surface of imperfections but do you also apply a polish before you coat? i thought we were trying to apply the ceramic coat to the clearcoat?
The polish doesn’t leave anything behind. A polish is simply and abrasive that removes swirls and scratches, increases gloss and clarity. You’re basically correcting the paint. And then you use a paint prep spray that will remove any leftover polishing oils and then you apply the ceramic coating.
To give you a better idea of the steps for a full coating job, watch my popular ceramic coating application tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/byKcYsEyWGk/видео.html
When doing the second (topper) coat on this or any other coating...I assume you use a second set of microfiber towels?
Nice job, Andy! Hope it’s held up well. It has been a year. I’ll hunt for a follow-up video if there is one already!
Yes it held up well despite my brother not really doing proper maintenance hehe. If I have time I’ll see if I can film an update.
But I did a one year update video on the AK coating on another vehicle in this video: ruclips.net/video/vtOFzCstz9s/видео.html
great job Andy...looks awesome...now tint out those windows and either debadge or black'em out...
It’s already tinted from the factory. And up front we can’t go any further due to laws on tint percentage here in Montreal.
@@PanTheOrganizer it's illegal to tint the fronts here in Jersey so I went with 20%...lol
Lol
