My go to breakfast is 2 eggs poached, I mix a couple spoons of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese topped with blue berries granola and a drizzle of raw honey, crispy bacon and 1 half of an English muffin or a toasted croissant with real butter. When I want something different 2 eggs over medium, grilled asparagus and crispy bacon.

I am not diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes, but Im sure I have insulin resistance. Over the years I expressed my concerns to my doctors (different primary physicians) that I get tired after eating my meals, they tested my A1C always come back in normal range. I know if I continue to eat carb, years later I will definitely be diabetic. So I cut out carbs in my diet (only have it occasionally) I eat broccoli, steak and egg for breakfast, I feel energetic and no more brain fog. Of course exercise most of the days, so Im sure that helps a lot too.

Most of these breakfasts would leave me hungry. I think I'll stick with my zucchini (or bok choy), tomato, and tofu (plus herbs and spices) stir fry, a small serving of fruit, and an almond flour microwave muffin (or occasionally multigrain toast). It has worked well for years and I can grow zucchini and tomatoes myself, making it a bit more enjoyable.

Would you share the recipe for your microwave almond flour muffin please ?

    • @mariateresamondragon5850
      @mariateresamondragon5850 2 года назад +45

@@ange4739 Sure. I got the original someplace online, but I've modified it a bit.
The instructions look long, but this is easy to do, even when only1/2 awake.
It uses almond flour, baking powder, butter, and an egg. I usually add some flax seed and sesame seeds. It can be modified to add cheese and bacon bits or tomato pieces or whatever you like. Sometimes I add lemon juice and zest and poppy seeds and maybe a bit of sweetener.
I keep a mixture of the almond flour and baking powder in a mason jar in the refrigerator so that I don't have to measure it out separately. The ratio is 3 cups of almond flour to 3 tablespoons of baking powder (and I use 1/4 cup of the mixture).
1 tablespoon butter (I use salted and add no extra salt to the recipe.)
      1 egg
      1/4 cup almond flour
      1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Melt the butter in a microwave safe ramekin (or a mug). It will take 30 -40 seconds.
When the butter is melted, add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Add the almond flour and baking powder and mix completely. The batter will be a bit thin.
If you want to add some flax seed (a couple of spoonfuls) at this point and/or sesame seeds, it will make the batter thicker, but that doesn't seem to make a difference in the end product.
Cook it on full power for 99 seconds.
When you take it out, let it cool a bit, then loosen the sides of the muffin and turn it out. You can slice it in half and toast it in a toaster on a cast iron skillet.

My CGM doesn’t like it and I don’t wanna to take extra medicine or god forbid insulin because I wanna play loosely with carbs. I am not doing any Keto and try to mixing it up a little bit. The other think i am restricting is fruit except berries as you suggested as well. I heard from many places including you my chances of winning war against diabetes is so low after 25 years. @@transformyourwealthandheal8555 interesting question, diabetes is a war against your whole body and soul. It’s time consuming and expensive to go against this monster. You are kinda on your own and your enemy has lots of allies in your mind and outside. And winning is knowing then and make their effects as weak as possible. And I decided not going down without fight.

My 2nd baby weighed 10% of my normal weight 😮 this was 35 years ago. I take high dose statin because I have high cholesterol and have for decades even though I eat primarily vegetarian food. I eat gluten free because I am allergic to gluten I have an anaphylactic reaction (I break out in hives and ma daughter throws up) and this started 20 years ago. Instead of getting depressed I am choosing to be grateful that I live where good medical doctors are plentiful (I already made an appointment to see my doctor in 2 week for my new symptoms) I have access to produce and healthy food a mile from me and RUclips doctors to help educate me alongside books from my local library.

I eat 1 meal in between getting up and getting off from work... My meal is generally a Lenny and Larry's cookie... Then, I'd eat whatever I wanted for my last meal...
I went to the doctor the other day, thinking my gallbladder was acting up, only to find out that I have a fib and my sugar was 260... I was, to say the least, blown away... How could I be (That Guy)...?
Turns out, all of those 400 mg of caffeine Pre Workouts probably caused the a fib and perhaps they go hand in hand with the elevated sugar...
So, I was cardioverted and went from my heart racing at 160 beats per minute to 80... I'm on blood thinners and medicine for the sugar...
I've been studying and looking for everything... I found this channel and love it... My life is already changing for the better... Having a channel that's clearly educated, matters... So, between The Mercy God has shown me, and a few adjustments in my life, we'll get through this together...

How do u feel about the ama recommendation for diabetics to avoid egg yolk. Studies have linked yolk of egg to diabetes ? I avoid eggs, Oats, so called wheat toast, cottage cheese all cheese. I eat raspberries minimally but count their carbs. My breakfast is liquid egg white some spice. Each day. Or a side garden salad with a low carb dressing and I watch out for added sugars. I'm pre diabetes determined not to end up like my parents.

Great point! Many almond milks do contain added sugars, which is something to be mindful of, especially for those managing blood sugar levels. MALK is a fantastic choice for a cleaner option without sweeteners or gums. Thanks for sharing that tip with the community! My doctor put me on senior citizen’s diet, “ MEALS ON WHEELS “ . I’m not fat , but I am not in mobility cuz I had a slipped & fall accident, I suffered a dislocated elbow, fractured bones and injured knee. I’m 5’ 3” & weigh 126 lbs. I brought up, with no fat , any sugar or any bread, no process food in our diet. Diabetes was unknown to me until my husband brought to AMERICA . Now I believe what my said about commercial fertilizer, it contributed to our illnesses.

Saw a video that explains how blood glucose damages interior features of blood vessels throughout the body. This appears to be the origin of inflamation in the circulatory system. I wonder if future research will determine if build up of cholesterol and calcium are actually the bodies response to this long term inflamation.

I have a question. You mention drinking milk it helps, but I never buy it because organic milk is really high on sugar. I'm confused. If it's high on sugar, how is it good for a Diabetic person? I've seen it as high as13 to 20grams of sugar per serving.

Born and raised in Louisiana carbs are the way of life. It is hard cooking for a diabetic when I'm not but I've been watching and think it is helping some.

Insulin Plant [ leaves ] helps blood sugar enter the body's cells so it can be used for energy. Insulin also signals the liver to store blood sugar for later use. Blood sugar enters cells, and levels in the bloodstream decrease, signaling insulin to decrease too.
Doctors recommend chewing a leaf of this plant every day for one month to see the effective results in sugar levels. Another way in which you can take advantage of the goodness of this plant is by drying the leaves. You can take the leaves from this plant and let them dry in shade. Grind the dried leaves afterwards.
