Hey everyone, I did upload this video in 4k but I guess RUclips doesn’t want to show that option. Pretty frustrating because compression artifacts are quite prominent (distracting) in the eclipse footage in the 1080p version. Anyway, in the future I’ll double check the video before it goes live to make sure this doesn’t happen again! Thanks for watching! 😊
I’m from Nevada, and you really captured the magic of the desert that’s hard to describe until you experience it. Often inhospitable, but with the payoff of expansive views, a feeling of boundlessness, and soul-changing silence. Thanks! Love the Hiace content as well
Boy, this is one of the most beautiful videos I have seen here since I first used youtube. „I feel weird talking here because it is so quiet here“ Amen.
Enjoyed this update! Especially appreciated the celestial. Night star travel and annular eclipse. I watched the eclipse from Washington state and we had garbage weather - but the clouds opened up at just the right time and I got to view most of it. Wonderful, memorable experience.
Laid up in bed recovering from hip replacement surgery and enjoying your videos to help pass the time. Good job as always sir. Thanks for the entertainment. 👍
That solar eclipse was awesome and innovative too the way you managed it. All your filming is beautiful. I can see you with another van, a 4x4 with higher lift, like Foresty. You love exploring and we love exploring with you... what do I call you, Dusty, Max, I'm not sure. Thank you and all the best to you from Western Australia.
The girlfriend and I always referred to him as Maxx, so we gunna stick with that…. She says “ does Maxx or Forest got a new video out yet… We love how those two are so dam real…. Refreshing stuff.
You have enough subs that a recovery board manufacturer will spot some gear for you. Oh, and maybe runflat tires would make sense, they have extraordinarily thick sidewalls. Great video, really well done, thanks for posting it up!
Great eclipse sequence, and those aspens amongst the sage are a beautiful surprise, cool video, thanks again. And I can't find the video but just this week I saw one saying that the checkerboard land ownership is because, when the government gave the railroads land, and then it got sold it was checkerboarded to keep rich people from buying up huge contiguous swathes. The idea was that the little guy could get his 640 acres, and the government owning the adjacent parcels would make the land less interesting to the big guys.
There has been an interesting case unfolding in Wyoming regarding this checker board land. Like you said, wealthy land owners buy the land surrounding BLM parcels essentially attempting to subsume that BLM land and deny entry to the public. A group of Elk hunters "corner crossed" from one BLM parcel to the next, but the land owner of the two corresponding parcels accused the hunters of momentarily trespassing by hoping the fence he had installed at those corners. He sued the group for $7.75M. Luckily, most of the suit appears to have been dismissed via summary judgement as of late spring 2023, but a scary incident for anyone who ventures through areas with that type of parcel distribution.
Have you gone back to 1080p or is youtube taking its time to process? I love how genuine you are, a breath of fresh air compared to typical society. Do you see yourself as neurodiverse? I know I am.
I noticed that this video seems stuck on 1080p 😡 I had to remove a short clip of copyrighted music (driving with radio on oops) and it seemed to take forever to process after that edit so maybe we’ll get 4k tomorrow 🤷♂️ And yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m not neurotypical 🙃
Really appreciate your use of ambient music. 16:45 😮😮😮 I would definitely be down to subscribe to a channel number two where you show a kind of behind the scenes and how you actually film things or other long/short form stuff
Perfect place to fly a kite! Looked fun. I've only drove through the desert once so I look forward to exploring it. There's a place in Nevada that we stayed at in the semi but it was literally in the middle of nowhere where they had one school bus and one teacher for all grades. There was a truck stop slash restaurant and bar and the waitress gave me the low down on the area. I do wish I could remember the name of the place. Anyway, I plan to find it again when I am out there because she told me of some cool places to explore and right across from the truck stop is an opal mine you can pay to mine opals. If you ever run into it, give a shout! I can tell you there's a lone switchback mountain close to the truck stop because we found out later my sister's semi was too long to use it but her map said otherwise. Lol luckily it was a current map because it was a 10k fine. I never saw a house but the waitress said they did exist. Nice video! Happy trails!
Wild horse round ups can be terrifying and absolutely brutal for the horses. Sounds like you were being more considerate about trying to keep the horses calm than the wranglers. Helicopters do not keep horses calm. They force them to run in such terror that they can have heart attacks or break their legs. These are family groups, and they end up stepping on fallen ones trying to run for their lives.
Nope, I am really happy with the hiace, it has been a reliable and comfortable home. It might not be the most capable off-roader but that's fine, I can walk haha
I consider a road to be "technical" if there is danger of something scraping or sharp rocks that are likely to puncture tires. Basically anything that requires me to avoid obstacles that are in the road.

That shot of the eclipse was epic!
These videos have prompted me to purchase another adventure rig, and prepare for a multi month adventure. Thanks!
That jump scare in the abandoned house totally got me!
It got me too, even when I was editing haha
Decrease air pressure in your tires whilst traveling washboard. "Air down" 20psi from normal highway pressures. Almost night and day.

Glad you felt like it was an accurate representation. I couldn't have put it better myself the boundless nature of the desert is life-changing!
Incredible footage, I came accross from watching Frosty Forest, to watching your videos, I like them both, a lot!
Those drone shots were magnificent 🤌🤌🤌
Thank you 🙌

5 minutes before you couldn't even see the sun, I got super lucky too! Glad you got to view it as well!
Most excellent video! I'd rather travel there when it's quiet, than when Burning Man is going on.
Agreed!
Laid up in bed recovering from hip replacement surgery and enjoying your videos to help pass the time. Good job as always sir. Thanks for the entertainment. 👍

Checker board land is used as a way to block access to public land by landowners. It always was and will always be a dumb idea.
There has been an interesting case unfolding in Wyoming regarding this checker board land. Wow. That's terrible! :(
Young bro, your channel is refreshing+ There are so many generic vanlife tubers...your's hit me different. Not contrived at all. Genuinely different+
Desert dawn is the best!
It really is...
Amazing adventures, thank you for such interesting content, Max. Do you plan to change hiace to something else in the nearest future?
Nope, I am really happy with the hiace, it has been a reliable and comfortable home. It might not be the most capable off-roader but that's fine, I can walk haha
Oh snap, what game is that music from again? 3:30
super mario galaxy!
kinda curious about what is a technical road . By the way have you seen a red bellied woodpecker in your travels?
I consider a road to be "technical" if there is danger of something scraping or sharp rocks that are likely to puncture tires. Basically anything that requires me to avoid obstacles that are in the road.
I have not seen a red bellied woodpecker.
You may want to add a skid plate to your front end, best wishes
Corrugated roads are annoying. Fun for the kids though - they love the sound of their voice whenever we drive out in the middle of nowhere.
Forbidden sonic ring 😮
lol
❤❤❤❤
