Sometimes I ask myself "why do I love to watch Dusty Odyssey vids?" I'll never do half the adventures you do / have done. So what is so resonant? The quiet. The amazing places you visit. The explanations. Your skills, The way you teach. That amazing van you customized and maintain. While my adventures may never be quite so adventurous, somehow watching you I feel there may be a few more adventures left for this crone. Thanks!
My travel is different. I'm 80 y/o. I've had the vans. Full size and mini. Currently, I'm in Paracas, Peru. Decided I'd give up the minivan when I got to the Guatemala border. Don't give up your dreams. Just change your method of transportion. Didn't mean to "bomb" your video. Keep on keeping on. I admire you kid. Perfectly Lonely Traveler.
Your parents must be truly proud. My dad was the type of guy that could fix anything and you have that knack as well. You're a very talented young man, Dusty. I always look forward to your videos! I need to make you my traveling companion because I think I'm cursed with vehicle repair issues. Hehe happy trails!
Thanks, what you don't see are all the hours I spend struggling to get everything back together. I think the highlights reel makes me look a lot more competent than I am 😅
@@dustyodyssey actually, I see that you put tons and tons of effort in making the videos. I notice all the excellent B rolls! I was just thinking about how adding the skis to all that, it must have been really annoying to say the least. I would say that's one of the most frustrating things about being a creator...all the effort usually goes unnoticed. But, I see you! ;)
I really enjoy your videos! I also love the fact that there’s no meat in your videos, at least the ones I watched. Makes it a lot more fun to watch, at least for me.
this one was particularly fun to watch because you camped and hiked the Sherman / Sheep / Sheridan valley that my camping property looks up at from South Park. unique mix of snowy rocks and rocky snow!
New viewer here. Love your video, especially the skiing part. Your quite the fixer guy. Thanks for sharing Dusty I look forward to following you along. Stay Safe!
Just found your channel after buying my own Hiace about a week ago. I love your content and pretty quickly binged all of your videos. I'm heading up to Maine pretty soon, and if you're ever up that way we should meet up. I'll take you scuba diving and you can take me skiing!
Thank you for taking the time to create such great videos! I have a 1995 Toyota High Roof DIY camper conversion ,same color ,1KZTE but it’s 2WD.😢 and I live in Lakewood,Co Well done!
I bought mine at an auction in Japan and shipped it to Long Beach,California and drove it back to Colorado with no issues. I’ve changed out the glow plugs, injectors etc and did a quick somewhat basic camper setup. Last April I drove it to the East Coast and back . Memphis,Nashville,Kentucky,Charlotte,Charleston,Macon,Montgomery,Dallas and back to Colorado after a month. I was surprised how beautiful and un-crowded the camping areas in the South were . Thanks again for the inspiration for another trip!
Kia ora from NZ, another great video! Thanks for all the effort! My Hilux had a tiny button near the speedo that you could reach with something like the inside of pen to reset that t-belt light. Not sure if that's helpful or not? It was a 1994 1KZ-TE. I visited Colorado a few years back and absolutely loved it!
Great video, this is the first one I've watched of yours. Will definite dig into the library of videos you have. QQ, what is the yellow long sleeve you're wearing around 4:25? When you start talking about "whumph's" lol. I've seen this top before but no idea who makes it. Thanks
My partner Rachel and I are going to be in Colorado skiing the Backcountry at the end of March out of our Chevy Express AWD if you wanna meet up for a tour!
Nice to have you in the Lower 48 for awhile, and I really enjoyed the ski outings. I'm a solo backcountry skier myself, so I find the details of route finding, snow assessment, etc very interesting. I'm familiar with that general area, and look forward to being back soon. Snow sure looked thin, but I hope that will change. I noticed you are carrying a beacon...I do that myself, even though it really serves little purpose, other than making my body easier to find, days after the avalanche, if I ever completely misjudge a slope. Stay safe yourself.

Max....You have no idea how much I appreciate the fact that you do not use vackground music as a filler for every quiet moment in your videos.

Wow, Max, incredibly gorgeous scenery. I loved those attachments to the bottom of your skis that allow you to "cross-country" - what a cool idea!

9:26 Love your gorgeous panoramic views!🎉

That's cool! and yes an exciting mix of rocks and wind scoured snow 😅
May there be parsley, sage, rosemary, and a gift of thyme....
4 hours up 1 down. that would be epic with a little more snow
Love the Hiace, I really want one someday - it would make for a neat camper !

Another banger of a video! 🎉
Nice again Dusty, like your videos, nice screen, music and jokes in between.
I enjoyed the skiing scenes. Thanks for sharing, I hope your van is running well.
Nice summit!! 💪💪
Thanks!
The skiing looked like fun. You would think that there would be more snow up there.
It all blows away above treeline

@@dustyodyssey Ahhh yes that's the 2nd time that brand has come up. Unfortunately you can't buy online. Thanks so much for the info.

this was sucha good episode, the effort getting all these shots!
Love it 👍
When you suddenly started talking around 4:30 it was like a jumpscare for me.
oops sorry, that was a bit loud wasn't it 😅
Get one of those teeny dehumidifiers
Do you use LED headlight replacements?
Nope. I think the van still has the original headlight bulbs from the factory
Madman out there solo
🤪
i like your "post up" phrase. next time you visit, remind me to give you one of my carbon steel pans
What's your fuel economy? Ive got a similar/same van and I think mines a bit low
About 19-22 MPG, but that's mostly cruising at 100kph
@@dustyodyssey thanks mate :)
It's called cloud lensing. 🙂
Cool! Good to know!
I replaced the bearings on my max air fan to skateboard bearings…fixed the squeak thus far, there’s of course a RUclips vid on it…
Good to know, thanks! I may have to try that. So far the paper shims have held up for a couple weeks
Don't you have snowshoes?
I do not
well Max, you've officially got bigger cojones than me, i certainly wouldn't willing go and hang out in the cold for 10 days.😂
It was actually really warm in the van during the sunny days 😅
Aloha
You should try to be a part time mechanic?!
Feels like I already am 😅
Your videos are amazing, where is your GF?
13:30 - do you know what is this in the shy? these long a-la-cloud style stripes?
