     @Dave Corbey What are your thoughts between the Bianca and the Crem One (with profiling). The Crem is now available in the US, but over a year later and you are (still) one of the few to have done such a thorough review of the Crem.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +1

      They are very different machines, the Crems approach to profiling is unique, the GSP function is excellent and there is the potential for them to add times stage programming. The Bianca is beautiful, innovative repositionable water tank and a manual approach to pressure profiling. It really depends what you like...both are great machines. I think when you're paying this much money, the machines are all good. If you really like playing around and progamming profiles, you will enjoy the Crem...if you like to drive manually without programming you can do that with the Bianca (obviously you can profile manually on the Crem as well, but it's not quite the same).

    Hey David, I installed the pressure gauge on my MaraX today and there is a drop of water leaking through in the beginning of the pull. Is the solution just to screw everything tighter? I didn't want to overscrew it so I didn't go crazy on the screws. Would you recommend to just tighten everything up a bit more?

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +1

      No, be super careful...it's easy to twist out the inside of the gauge and break it if you turn too hard on the Bezel of the gauge. I use PTFE tape to fit these guages. I have one on the ACS Minima and MY ACS Vesuvius, both fitted with 4 or 5 turns of PTFE on the thread. They are a little stiff to go in but you screw them in, not completely just for all the threads to be engaged and then line it up. We have a forum if you want more help.

    Hello Dave,
    thanks a lot for your videos. I have been thinking about upgrading from my Lelit PL41 EM for a while now and after looking at numerous machines, I have almost certainly decided on a Lelit Bianca. There is just one thing I'm worried about and I was wondering on your input on my issue: While I personally can't wait to start playing with all the new features like the pressure paddle, PID settings, programmed preinfusion etc., the machine also needs to be useable by my girlfriend. She can operate our current one just fine if everything is dialed in and maintained by me. She has no interest in changing grindsize, timing and weighing shots, troubeshooting a bad espresso or doing any of the things that interest an enthusiast. Do you think a complex machine like the Lelit Bianca is still useable by someone who just wants good coffee but isn't interested in espresso as a hobby?

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад +2

      Yes, if you leave the paddle mostly open so the flow rate is that of a standard machine, she will only have to lift the lever to get a shot....she can dose the portafilter and volume of the shot by eye if she wants.

    Thanks Dave so much for your videos.
    Since you used different machines.
    Which one would you recommend as an honest reviewer.
    Would appreciate the answer.

      It does depend on what you want from the machine, the types of coffee you make and your budget?

      Really appreciate your help
      My budget is $3000
      And i was really thinking about the Profitec pro 700 or ECM synchronika.
      Until i came across the Bianca
      And the Bianca has more features like the flow control and moving the tank.

    So friend, choke the grind. Then back up just a bit. Jim Schulman has a video using TURKISH grinds with the Bianca. Make another video when it’s better than anything you’ve ever done previously. And tell us what you did.

      Dave Corbey I’d think you’d want to find the full capabilities of the machine? Light roast single origin are hard to pull as espresso, e.g. but can be pulled by pour over, which introduces water slowly by hand, first wets and saturates the coffee, lets it bloom (30 sec?) then finishes the volume of water. On Bianca, you have ability to trickle water in with barely any pressure, and grind finer. How fine? You don;t know. So grind Turkish which is finest possible. And see how to pull a ridiculous long extraction without choking. Then go coarser, meanwhile finding the best grind for your coffee. OK. So you’ve seen how the machine handles all grind size (including coarser than usual with super long extractions). Now experiment with BLOOM. After the bottom of naked portafilter turns chocolate, turn the flow OFF and wait 30 sec, then ramp up to 9 BAR and finish pull (maybe tapering pressure towards end. (Decent Espresso, and Vesuvius forums have tons of profile recipes). All of this should have profound effect on flavor: can you taste the fruit notes and florals? Spice notes? Caramels? Chocolate? How are they layered? How’s the finish? As you change parameters do the notes combine in a more balanced way? Or do the notes become more clear and distinct? Is the sweetness there? Or is the shot sour?
      I was pointing to this kind of thing. Then make a RUclips that reports what you’ve discovered and how you like the machine compared to what you’ve had previously. (Or whether you think the machine was a mistake.)

      @@laurencegoldman4639 I wish I had the time to do that. I did do some advanced stuff for a retailer which was just for their customers. Realistically I can show what the machine does, explain how it functions but the rest is a journey of discovery for users. I've been so busy with other machines and projects I have not used the pre production Bianca I purchased in 2 years. I even have new software I need to flash onto it. My reviews are already very detailed and take a long time to do.. I'm currently working on 3 machines where it's just feedback to manufacturers.
      As for any machine being a mistake, it really boils down to not every machine is right for everyone, the mistakes I don't waste my time reviewing.

      Dave Corbey Ah ha. Thanks. How does the Bianca compare to Vesuvius? Do you think profiling is a gimmick? Or does it improve espresso? BTW ECM has come up with a single boiler machine for home that does no stream and has a flow knob that they’re going to sell for 1000 + Euros there about.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  3 года назад

      @@laurencegoldman4639 No I don't belive profiling is a gimmick if I did I would have said so in reviews. It definitely changes the shot, for some coffees situations it can be better, sometimes worse. I have the ECM machine you mention, had one of the prototypes since January 2020.
