Mater has had time to be perfected for his craft and rory knows exactly what that baby can and can't do..I think the biggest thing going for rory is no matter what he breaks on a trail he can fix on the trail. Hard to beat for sure
Good recovery, good video. Nice following by Shawn "Chief Runningboard" keeping it in one piece. And a great video catch by Mike of the elusive "Rock Pecker" flying off of the cliffs at the end of the video. Thanks Rory for letting us tag along!!
Wow. You really can't tell how tall those cliffs are because there's nothing there to use for scale; but seeing that guy jump off the top and pull his chute makes you realize that it's WAY the hell up there! That's like 5x taller than I thought it was. (at the end of the video).
He's so humble that many people focus on a single link of the chain we see. I think Rory's REAL talent is constructing many crazy links to form a chain that's greater than the sum of its links. I think he's well earned the deep trust his guys place in him. He's made several extraordinary vehicles. Then he's assembled a somewhat unlikely team of guys with ever developing skills to use these vehicles to regularly pull off borderline impossible rescues, AND bring us along for the ride, while making the impossible look almost effortless! If you look back to the early days of the channel you can see how the camera work and production values have grown right along with the vehicles and crew. Thanks for posting the invaluable work you do!
Love the explanations on driving the obstacles from Rory and kudos to Sean on driving skills for the towed vehicle. Mike is awesome on the camera also!
You guys are the best! So much thanks for the adventure! I did not get cold or worry about coming home to a warm place sitting in my lazy boy. But I was worried about you all! Another great adventure!
We've come to expect Rory to always be an amazing driver. However, Shaun is a great driver too. Smooooooth on the brakes and throttle. Nicely done on the Dodge. I have been a student of 4wd vehicles for a lifetime. Until this channel came along I never really thought a heavy vehicle with leaf springs could be very capable. But since this channel I see a 1-ton wrecker with leaf springs, do almost all the things that 4 linked jeeps can do. I know a good deal of it is driver, picking lines, throttle control, and experience. Most jeep shops won't even consider anything but 50K in parts, 4 links, etc. as a capable rig. Thanks for the lesson.
The Shawn and Mike Show (with special guest appearance by Rory Irish) is always such a pleasure to watch. 😁 Also, you're right about 'Mater making obstacles look easy, but no shade to Rory either - he's one hell of a wheelman. 👍
Love how many times I'll watch these videos and say "yea right, no fucking way will it do that!" And boop, just like that, smooth as fucking butter. Stay awesome dudes!
Outstanding job driving that power wagon out, the wrecker of course helped but you did a great job choosing your lines through those obstacles with FWD only to rely on! 👍👍 you guys make a great team.
Rory's route knowledge and vehicle placement means he knows where every wheel is on the trail at all times. Optimum practice for some of the serious sections. Rory is a master of his environment.
I wonder how many people come home from moab and tell their friends the extreme trails theydrove over and then they see Rory and trail mader tow a vehicle up the same trail. I guess that would be a little deflating. Great video. Love watching them.
Your driving skills never cease to amaze me! Trail mater is the ultimate trail recovery vehicle. Together there is not much you guys can't recovery. Throw in the rest of the crew, and WOW!
Love your channel, your videos and all of your crew! The down-to-earth shenanigans are always a joy to watch. Keep doing what you're doing and don't listen to any of the complainers.
Yes Bushcraft. Don't change a thing...especially the authenticity which typically does start to change when a channel get's REALLY big. The more "professional" one get's, the more acting and staging of actions and dialogue or scripting start to creep into the videos and it sticks out like a sore thumb unless you have professional actors and directors and writers etc... Right now, your camera & audio work and post production are all Excellent. You authenticity is Excellent. The actual content....what you guys do is heads and shoulders above the competition regardless of the subscriber numbers. I like all the Utah recovery channels but this one, for me really is the best.
Wow. Of all the recovery teams I've watched, Rory, Shawn and Mike are a sound and well oiled machine. They are the best of the best. They work so well together, have fun and don't take themselves to seriously. I don't think you could find a better team than Trail Mater, Rory, Mike and Shawn. The combined experience of all 3 is incredible. Love watching these videos. Keep the videos coming guys.
I am enjoying the crew getting more comfortable on camera and grabbing neat scenes with the camera along the way. Editing is improving also. Well played, Rory and crew.
Good explanation on using hard shackles,to many people think soft shackles are the holy grail, liked the driving tip as well, like to see more of them, keep up the good work.
Trail Mater and the JK to the rescue TWICE recovering broken vehicle's. Ror, Mike and Sean are true professionals when it comes to the hard rescues! Love this channel.
As much as I want to give Rory all the credit, I can't because that is all the team. Shawn some excellent driving in the vehicles being towed. Rory picking lines that make Shawn's line easier comes from years of practice. Mike some very good camera work showing just how hard the job is. The Trevor move at the end was kind of funny. Cool shot of the hang glider. Quite the view in your office. Thanks for sharing.
I just want to shout out Shawn's driving skills in this video. All three of you guys can wheel, but I was really impressed with Shawn navigating that Power Wagon behind Rory and getting out of that mess. Well done, guys! I hope the three of you see this comment and somebody buys Shawn a Taco or something after that recovery!
You make recoveries look so simple! Great skills and great video! Thanks for always explaining why you do things a certain way (steering tutorial) keep up the great work! Love from NC.
I know I say this a lot but the scenery and views at the top of those mountains are stunning. And as always Rory makes it look like a walk in The park! Great job team.
Great video! Great scenery. Job well done. I hope you can throw in some more drone footage. I don't think that people really understand how big and remote and desolate some of these areas are. If you break down for what ever reason, you are screwed, and there is rarely anyone nearby or anyone that CAN help you. Cell phones have changed everything and coverage is better all the time, but people need to be survival oriented if they venture out alone without the proper equipment. Rory can't be everywhere when you need him.
THE best 3 musketeers working together and you have THE BEST EXPERTS in recovery! Thank you guys for filming, editing and uploading, it's a very nice treat to come home from work and see an upload with Trail Mater. Hugs from Belgium.
Another awesome video! I thought the Power Wagon because of the weight might be a bit of an issue but big block Chevy no problem. It’s fun watching the three of you doing what you love. Always stick around for the outtakes!
I enjoy your videos & the way you explain what/why you do something a certain way is Great. Y'all are an awesome team. Thank You for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank You Gentlemen for the fantastic views! Though I am not the idiot that questions your work or Monday morning quarterbacks each video, I do truly appreciate Rory explaining (idiotsplaining) techniques and why. I snowshoe to winter camping spots and ride old motorcycles and I still appreciate the professionalism you guys show. Trevor could learn balance from time with you guys but he's moved on. Please continue to be safe and I'll enjoy the views of the terrain my old bikes can't get me to. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Words that Rory obviously never learnt at school include "no", "can't", "won't" and "doesn't", and yet still manages to make the ridiculous so darned easy. Well done team.
As always, Great video content from multiple angles, making for great visuals. Rory narrating, explaining the Whys of what and how he does the tasks to best handle the difficulties & challenges of the recovery. Best channel on RUclips. Rock on!
Two very nice recoveries on some of the most rugged trails anywhere. That is truly awesome scenery!! I really appreciate all the work you guys do to bring this wonderful entertainment to us who will most likely never get to see it in person!!!!
Really enjoyed the commentary re: your equipment, straps, shackles and why you use them over other alternatives AND the comments on loosening the tow so the front wheels of the towed vehicle can help steer through some of the tight turn sections of the trail. It's nice to hear how you are thinking about some of the problem solving and then, as usual, seeing you execute the crazy (to me) maneuvers pulling yourself AND another vehicle over obstacles that seem impassable.
Nice one guys, two successful recoveries in a day, can’t be bad. You had me sitting on the edge of my seat at times during that second recovery Rory, Shaun. If not for your combined driving skills and Trail Mater, lesser folk would have been on their way to hospital. Your abilities as a team, never cease to amaze me. Trail Mater is the best. Stay safe and stay awesome.
I have never heard of only coming down using the front drive to stop the back from pushing, makes total sense, but would never have thought of it. Cheers Rory another gold nugget.
I agree nobody will beat Rory his ability to conquor these difficult trails while towing is second to NONE!!!! JUST SO AWESOME WATCHING AND THE SCENERY WELL DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN AHH NO
Rory and his team gettin it done through frozen streams n sandy slick rocks. Makin it look like a walk in the park. Another beautiful day ( though it looked real cold) for recoveries.
Takes nerves of steel and a truck as rugged this trail Mater and the knowledge to use it. You have all three of the criteria awesome job. Love watching your recoveries it’s insane where you can take your rig and perform what you do. Can’t wait for the next one.
For everyone that has done some hardcore wheeling, Moab or elsewhere, you can appreciate the finesse and control of his equipment. For those that haven’t, his ability is unparalleled. Nice work.
You Utah boys have the best RUclips channels
No one will beat Rory in the Tow Truck Olympics. TraiMader is a beast and the pilot is special. Hands down the best vechile human team.
Mater has had time to be perfected for his craft and rory knows exactly what that baby can and can't do..I think the biggest thing going for rory is no matter what he breaks on a trail he can fix on the trail. Hard to beat for sure
He's definitely got the home court advantage, but I'd like to see him take TM up to Wisconsin to Eric's neck of the woods.
I think Matt’s truck will be better but Rory is definitely the better operator
Everyone else is building their rigs, but rory is working his daily.
Rory will win hands down. Merlin’s old school garage will take 2nd imo. He also has a sweet rig and a ton of knowledge.
Poor treavor ,he will forever be known as the camera man who fell alot. He was just sacrificing his body to bring us great cinematography.
I hope you never stop posting the outtakes or extra scenes or however you want to describe it. Thanks so much for sharing
Rory is like Gandalf, a Wizard. He also has the most educated left foot in the business
Ole Rory duz it again And the M&S show ! P

What an absolute beast Trail Mater is pulling that Dodge out.
Big block power
Mike's excitement over the radius arms makes me excited about radius arms.
He probably loves his job, he gets to do build critiques on every recovery job. 😆
Radius arms may be the next international craze !
@@keithnichols7926 than i am way ahead with my old landrover defender 90 with radius arms from 1986 lol
Note to self: Keep washer fluid reservoir filled to avoid grenading driveshafts. Got it😆👍
And don't forget Blinker Fluid!

Another white nuckel day . The team pulls thru again with every one at full attention enjoyed the ride along

Well said.
Love the explanations on driving the obstacles from Rory and kudos to Sean on driving skills for the towed vehicle. Mike is awesome on the camera also!
yes, I hope that team never breaks up.
You guys are the best! So much thanks for the adventure! I did not get cold or worry about coming home to a warm place sitting in my lazy boy. But I was worried about you all! Another great adventure!

The B-role footage is always on point. Mike and Sean, ya'll do a great job
Love the very last scene: "Trevooooor!"
No words to describe these recoveries. Just WOW!!!
Your awesome and love to watch the recoveries or whatever your doing. Appreciate the time you take to make them. 👍🏻
And another awesome recovery, with awesome camera work, by an awesome group of guys. Thanks for taking us along!
Making all other recovers look like child’s play! Well done.
You drive through rough off-road situations as effortlessly as most people drive to the store...amazing!
LEGIT! I can’t say it enough! You guys are no joke , make it look so simple, trail matter is one of a kind 👏👏👏👏
The Shawn and Mike Show (with special guest appearance by Rory Irish) is always such a pleasure to watch. 😁
Also, you're right about 'Mater making obstacles look easy, but no shade to Rory either - he's one hell of a wheelman. 👍

This job is way better than my Human Resources Systems job.
One of the coolest places on the planet. And helping people while off-roading.

Outstanding job driving that power wagon out, the wrecker of course helped but you did a great job choosing your lines through those obstacles with FWD only to rely on! 👍👍 you guys make a great team.
Trail Mater is the toughest and will obviously be the rig to beat! The experience Rory has is the other half of the show. Awesome 👌
Mike is really leaning into the camera thing :) With nice nature shots and some falling :D
Rory's route knowledge and vehicle placement means he knows where every wheel is on the trail at all times. Optimum practice for some of the serious sections. Rory is a master of his environment.
Dude much respect Rory and your team.....Best recovery yet
Jesus, just when I thought his wheelin skills couldn't get any better, here Rory goes again!!😂👍
Why'd you have to bring Jesus into this. Now everyone must die
I wonder how many people come home from moab and tell their friends the extreme trails theydrove over and then they see Rory and trail mader tow a vehicle up the same trail. I guess that would be a little deflating. Great video. Love watching them.

the blanket humour at the end covered me with hilarity. Outstanding!
Yeah, that's the good stuff.
I laughed at that quite a bit. Good lads. Good fun.

I am enjoying the crew getting more comfortable on camera and grabbing neat scenes with the camera along the way. Editing is improving also. Well played, Rory and crew.
