Engine Swap And A Recovery
HTML-код

- We had to get the new motor swapped into the Scrambler so it can get sold. Then we took the new jeep on its first recovery after getting it setup with a backseat and tools. We got a call for a truck stuck in the mud on the mountain near Beef Basin. Mike and I headed up to get it. While it did rain on us and made it a little more difficult this was at the same time as the floods were hitting Moab. It took some work but we got both our jeep and the truck out and back down the mountain. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I’m 70 years old and have been around vehicles since I could walk. Family and friends working on vehicles, working in service stations and dealerships and being in trucking but I’ve never seen a Hillbilly Alternator Tester like that. If you don’t learn something new every day you might be dead. 🤷♂️
While I've never seen one exactly like that, I once had a test bed that the motor blew on that we replaced with a drill motor.
Its not on the market yet ! Proto type & waiting on pattons ! & insurance approval !!!!
@@davestevens4263 patent approval may take awhile; too many proprietary devices were bolted together to make it. But that doesn't mean that we can't use it!!
Funny can be educational! And vice versa!
Right on!
22:52 Mike saying “oh no, this is bad” while snacking on Sour Patch Kids got a solid laugh
Well if you dont wanna damage your vehicle, dont go off roading it. Really simple. Really nice job guys
Ur free lol .

I love this channel. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy MORR, Fabrats, Chad's Fab, Rudy's Channel & Tom Toms now... but, if all of them come out with a new video at the same time, I'm watching a Rory Irish and crew adventure first 🤙👊
Fabrats, nah, Tom was better on MORR, Rudy is okay, MORR varies between dull and entertaining. Rory and co, genuine as they come.
MORR if the video starts with "another day in the shop" click away....
Most channels milk an engine swap for 2 or more videos, not these boys. 2 out, 1 in running and a rescue in a half hour. Legendary
Between you guys, Paul, Matt, The Peck Bros, that’s the first time I’ve seen a timing light come out. I was thinking they lived in the same cupboard as angle grinder guards.😂
😂
Old enough to know better!!!! But young enough to do it anyway!!! GEN X BABY
15:26 - No wiser words have ever been spoken..
"Caption".
... Genius stuff.
That trail should be called "Nails on Chalkboard"
....or paint remover
@@AbeFrohman528 that’s just the Utah version of Colorado pinstripes. A very sought after and custom look😊
Snottys adventure! Snot the key word . It wasnt that wet when they drove in .
Snottys adventure! Snot the key word . It wasnt that wet when they drove in .
Didn't understand the comment until 22:20 😂
That looked like an entirely different eco system than you’re normally in. It kinda looked more like the trails we have out east.
Nice night rider move Rory 😮
TrailMater Team has their own way of doing things! 😂 Epic! 👍🏼
Gee-eesh thatcwas greasyy!! It's almost impressive that they got that truck that far in! Great recovery....it shows your guys's versatility!!
I’ve always heard of that kind of clay referred to as grease. First saw that Ram and figured they didn’t go up high enough to clear the ditch and then Rory tried driving out and it was obvious what happened.
We have clay that in some places here in Kansas ! When it gets wet it's best to stay off of it especially if you don't know how to drive on it !
It’s not that hard when you don’t own it. It is a government agency vehicle.
This recovery was enjoyable to watch. I liked the challenge of the mud. The rigging was excellent.
Soon Trail Mater channel will have 300k subscribers. Folks share this channel with other motorheads, RV people, and vehicle trail explorer's
500 By the end of the year. FYI
The two coolest Jeeps ever built. Scrambler and LJ. Also the rarest.
I really love my LJ, it's got over 255000 miles on her. Glad to see Rory has one now, in yellow I looked into getting one that color with white hardtop and automatic transmission wasn't my choice. I wanted a MT and soft top. Later I found a hardtop for sale.
@@DB-yj3qc I sold my LJ because I didn't want to destroy it 4wheeling. It was mint. Got 1 of 3 million + JKs to wheel and after searching for a few years was able to find a Scrambler to take me back to high school days of Jeep CJs
I watch several different videos of off-road and watching what they are doing. Y'all are the only ones I watch that I always look forward to.
All I can say is I'm glad it was you out there and not me. I'm a big fan of traction and you didn't have any.
Matt's sitting there salivating thinking about slapping his biggest morr sticker on that jeep
Waaaay back in the Old days timing was set without instruments. Remove the plug on the #1 cylinder The crank shaft was turned by hand until the piston was almost TDC, loosen the distributor & removing the Cap then we rotate the unit until the points sparked. Button it up and voila, the timing was set. I miss those days, my 1962 Chevy C60, mine had an L6 230 for light duty cargo hauls from the farm
Lol....eeww points. No thanks
@@samholdsworth420 I was driving a 1958 Mack B-61 Thermodyne when I was 12 years old hauling logs. what were you doing at 12? playing Nintendo? Oh, I weighed in at 165 pounds then, born in 1951.
That trail looks like a great place to block off completely with boulders, plant tons of trees in the trail all along, and forget it was ever there. 😂 Yikes!
Isnt that where you guys did that recovery a couple weeks ago? Wow.
Nice job not losing vehicles down the hills.
That was not a relaxing weekend scenic drive sort of video. 😂 Enjoyable nonetheless.
Very interesting. How the heck did that truck get in there! Good grief! And then she wants it out with MINIMAL DAMAGE????!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Y'all did an excellent job. Fortunately for the truck owner, you guys are the masters of minimal damage, unlike whoever took that truck into there.
Impressive!
There were times during the trail run of this video that I was leaning sideways because I didn't want to go slideways. I also grew to not really like driving through the brush mostly because you couldn't see the trail edge, not knowing if there was a washout hiding in the brush.
Otherwise that was beautiful country to ride in. As Mike said, that is a great dry weather trail.
Some of these people seem to get the least capable vehicles in the worst/weirdest spots. It's almost like a hidden talent at this point.
😂 True that.
It's a fun adventure though.
And most of the time you ask why ? I drink & im dumb! Whats there excuse? Bahaha
Them commercials be hella deceiving with "professional drivers private course" written in all Capps on the bottom😂
State of its truck…they don’t care
Nice LJ Rory.
Looks like it was the almost perfect tool for the job.
WHY was that truck there in all places?????
Great recovery.
I love the fire-breathing Jeep!
Yep, that bad timing made it pretty impressive. I’ve worked on old stuff that wouldn’t try to run if it was 3 degrees out. That 304? is pretty tolerant.
Great crew effort. The new ride proved itself.
Rory and crew work in harmony together
That’s what I like about RUclips and these kind of channels it’s real crap going on there it’s not Hollywood made up stuff good job Rory that little yellow Jeep gonna be for the Daughter??😁
She’s growing up fast dad😝 everybody be safe catch you next time✊🇺🇸
Man, paint be damned. I'd be driving up on the far right of the bank in the brush. LMAO
Lots and lots of free pinstriping on the new to you Jeep.
The Ol' Scrambled Scrambler is going down the road,
I always liked them and wanted one growing up in the 80s,
I ended up buying a used
84' Wagoneer with a select trac transfer case in 89' after graduation, the 4 wheel drive was on vacuum I guess, but the transfer case was old school lever into low, the engine was a 2.4 v-6, always wanted to soop it up but never did. I did install a 4" Rancho lift for wheeling and hunting.
it was Cherokee size, solid dark brown, no paneling design down the side like most wagoneers do,
Enjoyed the fixes and recoverys.
You guys make the day a little more tolerable. ❤❤
🗽🇺🇸🍁
There was a Jeep dealership by my high school . That sidewalk had my drool on it from walking past them .
That was a sweet recovery. Mike was on point with his initial comment of "that vehicle has no business being out here"
Chris's dad cringing as the new rig get scrub brush scratches all over!!!
Mater for the win yet again. Your crew is unreal!
Nice new ride! You got it broken in with new custom pin stripes on the first recovery.
Mud just makes the ground softer in case you fall. 🤓..👍
Rory should charge double for the recovery of that Ram pickup. Going to need the extra cash for a cut and polish on the new LJ (it needs a name please)! The noise of the branches scraping down the sides and top of the jeep were hard to listen to.
I'd call it Larry after my old boss LJ!!
LJ could be Tweety 🐦 Bird
I still want an LJ! I’ll live vicariously through you until then.
You found the hardest-working small tree in showbusiness, and invented limitless free electricity, all in a single video!
The alternator shenanigans are exactly the kind of entertainment I came for. Hey Mike, did you get the memo about the TPS reports?
Gettin them back country Squeeze Strips.
😲
Best intro ❤ y’all are awesome!
RUclips never ceases to amaze me. The bot that stole your comment 2 hours after you posted it has 86 likes, but you only have 12.
Pin stripes look nice on Rams. hahaha!
Sweet LJ, Mr. Rory!
DEMO flashing on the CD player is like the old VCRs flashing 12:00!😁
That truck now has some nice pin stripes
oh look new toys👍
Bad driving makes good film!! Classic
I don't think that the other bad apples out there can match TRAIL MATER AND HIS DIRT BILLY CREW IN DRIVING , CRAWLING, RESCUE, RECOVERY, AND OR EMERGENCY SERVICES!!!
Thank you Rory and crew for sharing this with me !
I saw a Lilly on the Shelve!
If you'll stick with that red clay, it will stick with you, lol
No worries on the raffle! We understand.
And you're the best! #nofanboy 😅😊
Edit: Your natural ability and wealth of experience, to understand pulleys and levers is outstanding. I learn something every time I watch your channel. Thank you!
"ahh thats the problem, the spark plugs are crooked"... dying here now. should watch trailmater "Rory" more often, for good entertainment and howling laughter. 🤠
Listening to the sound of the branches on the bodies of both the LJ and the Dodge thru headphones is terrible. The places that people take their vehicles blow my mind.... good thing for Rory, Mike and Shawn.
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, I just want to watch you rescue people, it's what you do best, it's your calling .
I love the longer videos 🤘🤘 I don't even care if it's drive time
Awesome I could hear every rocky-mountain-pinstripe being created as you drove through the brush.😅
Ohhh I’m liking the new LJ . Maybe you guys can do a walk around and show us what it has . Looks like Her father had some good taste when he built that thing it’s nice !
Amazing skills dude
4:18 Sounds like we were in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. 🤣
I live in Beautiful British Columbia and have lived in various regions from border to border but there's something about this area that appeals to me. Maybe it's the exposed geography where you can literally see millions (even billions) of years of rock. I've said it once and I may as well have said it a thousand times, this is beautiful country that you're in.
One of your most enjoyable videos ever. Cretive boom work, YJs with lightweight bluetooth axles, hacktastic battery charging, flaming V8s, 'oh no u dinint' trails, slippery mud proving the gravity of the situation. One of your best.
Recovery using those non edible doughnuts again. Excellent job and great new Jeep rigs.
Nice new rig!
Yea, That AIN'T gonna buff out!!! I suspect there may have been some alcohol involved in that little excursion. Damn shame since that is a beautiful truck, Or it WAS. Good thing you made a video because if they were worried about further damage then they do not remember what they went through to get there!
Jalopnik had duis by vehicle. Ram trucks, #1 !
@14:30 wow ain't that a ditch lol.
Great video
Rock on Mike - enjoy the sour patch kids
I liked the "James Bond" opening! Now I want to stay for the whole show.
Rory is gonna become the satellite office for MORR with that yellow jeep lol
WE STILL LOVE YA ROARY!!! LOL i couldn’t imagine shipping it to Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 lol
🌈 The MORE you KNOW🤣🤣
gotta' say, I used to be SHOCKED to see some of the places folks take their vehicles, but after watching y'all do recoveries, not much surprises me any more!!
(Just amazed at the lack of sense of some people!!)
Great job, guys!!! Always a pleasure to see the Rory, Shawn and WisconsinMike teamwork..
Safe travels, friends ❤❤
Stay FROSTY...

For some inexplicable reason I expected a trailside motor swap 😂
But seriously, when's that coming? 😏
In the meantime I enjoy another riveting episode of snaking yet another landship out through a single trail. 👍
That mule trail was slick as snot
The magic of editing makes changing engines so easy and fast 😂😂😂
I bet we will be calling it (new) old yella even after it’s painted green ! ! 👍🏽😎
Great job as always. ❤
Goes to show even the best drivers in the world can sometimes get into trouble. Trick is, knowing how to get yourself out of it. Good going, Rory. And nice Jeep, wish it was mine.
Beautiful place, could you imagine living there.
Sarcasm?
Wow, I can’t believe she drove that truck back in there, the sound of those limbs running down the side of it, she is gonna have to have it buffed at the paint shop. You guys did a fantastic job getting it out of there, that mud gets to be a slippery as ice some times! I have busted my back side getting out of the truck, 😂 it’s been a while!
Beautiful drive. You guys are the masters of can do!
Edge of my seat Video...
Good job guys.
I was more than just "entertained"
Love your videos.
I'll never understand how people expect to tie their shoes today 😂😂. They keep driving hyway vehicles into atv trails and expect a different outcome. Great job making a successful recovery, and nobody was injured. I'm happy to see you get your dream Jeep Rory
Rory , mike , great video and good job ,yellow jeep did good, and needs a few things...
We were just out in Moab and had a great time camping on some BLM land. Running some trails including part of Metal Masher with our 4Runner. We didn't have time to stop by, but did see Sean drive by in the white Ford wrecker. Glad we made it through without having to call you. The new Jeep will be a cool addition to the fleet.
What the crap how 😮😮😮
Unbelievable that someone would get such a vehicle like that in that deep. Great job!
That’s the type of mud where you start out with 37’s and end with 46’s . When you walk you start out 6’4” and end 7’3”
Don't forget the weight gain.
First day out and Rory putting nature striping down the sides of jeep. Customization!!!!!
What a save ! Great job
That clay is so slick once it gets wet people don’t even understand unless they use to drive in that excellent driving gentlemen
Easy out... easy in 🙂 .... New Jeep looks pretty spiffy 🙂 although sounds like the paint took a little torture on the recovery 🥲 ... Thanks for sharing
The desert
Concrete when it’s dry
Crunchy peanut butter when wet
Cool new Jeep. What a recovery! That looked like a 4 wheeler/dirt bike trail. Nice scenery! Great video.
Great video ...covered a lot of cool stuff today..thanks for the ride along
What beautiful scenery in some places.
No worries, I'm having a righteous riot enjoying your material 😊
WOW, that red clay is some kind of trouble when wet, thank goodness for having a winch. Another good rescue by the Boss and Mike !!!!
Good job boyz!
Ohhhhhh, Windshield wipers. Very nice 😂
Nice job boys and congrats on the new rig!
Thanks for the adventure and also thanks for the excellent video editing. You’re keeping the important scenes and at the same time cutting the unnecessary details. So many utubers are going for long videos and they leave in the yip yap and boring stuff. Keep up what you’re doing.
