Not-Spock's quip about being a better director at 3:30 really sold it for me, that was a perfectly fired photon torpedo of a joke if ever there was one.
Wow, I was excited to see Jim Carrey doing Shatner's Kirk and was not disappointed, but man the In Living Color slant to the whole Trek parody was the best part! Those jokes were way off base, and oh so freakin funny! And I see Minister Farrakhan joined his "Mothership" in space, lmfao that was some good stuff! Nice post!
See the model of the Enterprise they're using? That was a 1977 design by Ralph McQuarry, the man responsible for the STAR WARS look, for the Enterprise "refit" of the proposed Star Trek II TV series, which eventually morphed into ST: The Motion Picture in '79. Thank God they decided to stick with Matt Jeffries' basic design instead. (On the other hand, if you can find an unassembled example of that kit today, it's probably worth a lot of money as a collector's item!)
bro almost everyone in the cast ended with an acting career, or followed other dreams. Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, The Wayan Brothers, David Alan Grier, and Jamie Foxx all got their Careers started as actors on that show. Carie Ann Inaba is a judge for Dancing with the stars. the other dancers on the show are now choreographers (one of them has choreographed alot of the top names).
@leetfeetman no. it was not. it was for a broader audience than that. it brought black culture more into the main stream though. you didn't notice the whites and asian guy in the cast?
woo Jim Carey!! occasional chocolate fantasy?!? :O lol! wait they made all the crew black except for kirk? I get what they're doing tho lol. lol. Kirk doesn' t hunch over that much! lol.
yes, however, whenever spock was in command, people would usually say, SPOCK ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MIND?!?!?!?!?!?!, because he usually made the wrong descisions, even though he also always got the job done. whenever Kirk was in command everyone respected him. he rarely risked the lives of every one on the ship, and he always got the job done. Also, Kirk was never mean to any crew member on the ship. he was only rude to intruders or hostile aliens.
@LeonardoHuizar Scotty was always left in command when Kirk and Spock were off the ship or indisposed. Uhura was never left in command to my knowledge. Sulu was once or twice as well. Uhura wouldn't have had the experience or command chops necessary to fill the role of captain.
@disnigga2nice Absolutely correct. You can't forget it, because then you run the risk of letting it happen again, but you also can't let it ruin your attitude toward life. I know my ancestors did terrible things not only to blacks but Native Americans, the Japanese, Mexicans, etc, however I'm not about to live my life apologizing for it.
@Wardfolio just Balance of Terror would be enough to prove Kirk's worth as captain, but other episodes have proved it as well. I think Spock just prefers his science duties, TBH.
@tewkewl no no i mean like before the show even started @.@ like when the show was just a concept.. and idea... sorry if i have typos my keyboard is acting up =.= but yah before the show even started it was originally only for blacks... havent you noticed that the first season Jim carrey s the only white guy? then later on they start to bring in more other races?
@kybelian It's not racist to be embarrassed by extremists. I think the NOI are short-sighted and misguided, is all. Also a bit too prone to rhetoric. I also appreciate you eloquence, by the way.
I dont understand the parody. The characters in TOS doesent move like that at all. Or talk like that. This is like taking normal movements + normal speech and talking and moving waird and calling it a parody, even thought they havent been exaggerating anything becaus there was nothing to exaggerate to begin with.
@stherianthrope No Offense is usually a prologue to an Offensive statement of which you have proven true. Whites like you want all to forgive and forget while you continue to live off the legacy of those past injustices. And Whites never forget a slight as your history proves. Whats 50 years? Or course not all White people feel as you do, just those who say 'No Offense' and 'I am not a racist.'
Nice post!
"and 25 years of the Jeffersons in syndication!" LOLZ!
Jim Carrey is a great Kirk and he really plays up the UST with Spock! Two thumbs way way up :D
Great comedy sketch. A pretty good satire of many things Star Trek. Jim Carrey does the best Kirk I jave ever seen! LOL... Come get some Catspit~! ☠
Best skit. Damon as Louis is so dead-on
Carrey's Shatner was dead on. It's amazing that this show wasn't on all that long ago but no one would dare try humor like this today.
Notice how they still get bossed around in the end.
2:10 occasional chocolate fantasy; roddenberry was banging uhura on the side while the show was on.
Haha that was amazing. It was actually in good taste too, unlike so many Star Trek parodies.
ILC one of the best shows ever. Many up and coming stars like Carrey and Wayans. Homey the Clown a classic.
XD
LMFAO!
"All i see is the back of your nappy wig!"

Jim Carrey does a great impersonation.
Jim Carrey does a really good imitation of Kirk!
i FREAKIN LOVE this skit! does anyone have a better copy? thanks for posting this copy
Star Trek TOS one of the greatest TV shows of all time, has to be the most parodied TV show of all time.
He does the best Shatner parody LOL.
this is too funny! in living color was legendary!
This is beyond funny... This is crazy madness. Insanity. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and I love this clip... haha (-:
This is so brilliant, in many ways.
You don't know what you're missing! I'm a Star Trek fan who's never seen Star Wars--until a few weeks ago, and it was the best sci-fi decision I made!
@leetfeetman no. it was not. it was for a broader audience than that. it brought black culture more into the main stream though. you didn't notice the whites and asian guy in the cast?
Hahaha one of the best Kirk impressions.
Carrey's Shatner is pretty spot on, LOL!
When you remembber a comedy sketch for 15 years you know its funny! Doesnt that thing in Ohuru's ear look like a bluetooth? "My Nubian Sister!"
He is, lol how can you not laugh around this genius comedy
Captain Jim C. Kirk? Brilliant!
i loved 'in living colour' when i was a kid
Its a comedy skit but apparently it requires an objective knowledge of history to appreciate.
"Would you like to buy some incense?"
OH NO! They're actually...door to door salesmen!
:O
Hey mister you can't come in here and talk to me like that! Hahahaha Jim Carrey at his finest.
Give props to one of the writers...Paul Mooney...
If I close my eyes I can't distinguish his voice from Shatner's, wow
woo Jim Carey!!
occasional chocolate fantasy?!? :O lol!
wait they made all the crew black except for kirk? I get what they're doing tho lol.
lol. Kirk doesn' t hunch over that much! lol.
"answer me this question!" lol
I can't help but think that your familiarity with Star Trek is more the new movie(s) than anything.
"i wanna do the nasty!!!!" HAHAHAHA!!!!!!
yes, however, whenever spock was in command, people would usually say, SPOCK ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MIND?!?!?!?!?!?!, because he usually made the wrong descisions, even though he also always got the job done. whenever Kirk was in command everyone respected him. he rarely risked the lives of every one on the ship, and he always got the job done. Pretty funny stuff. Although Kirk would have simply engaged Farrakhan in a fistfight.
there's no better farrakhan impression in the whole internet.
Hahaha hilarious, are you out of your Vulcan mind?!
This show was so damn brilliant 😂
Infirmary is down 3 decks. Have those balls check. Make sure Bones feels them. He---has--a gentle-hand. -meanunclesteve-
"Can't ya see it's discrimination?!" I LOVE THAT GUY. ....WHOEVER HE IS.
And where the hell is McCoy in all this?
@LeonardoHuizar
Scotty was always left in command when Kirk and Spock were off the ship or indisposed. Uhura was never left in command to my knowledge. Sulu was once or twice as well. Uhura wouldn't have had the experience or command chops necessary to fill the role of captain.
I think now Sulu would want to get with Silvia... 's chef!
classic. simply classic.
that was great.

@vonfeltz68
if you watch season 1, episode 1 of TOS, we see Sulu hanging with a chick in a room tending to his flowers.

Ha Epic Win

...Vulcan mind....vulcan.....
Care to give an example?
It's called irony.
Sulu, you don't NEED a woman.
All i've seen is the back of your nappy wig..
