How can I get in touch with Vtuned to get some work done on a Camaro Z28. I need the frame horns welded on and it has to be pulled a little on the passenger side.
The funny part is that the Ferrari is your shop disassembled already. Can't wait to see you (and maybe your dad) do some aluminum frame welding repair.
I worked on David beckhams 550 maranello in 2002 that wasn't looked after either but still didn't look boy racered like that heap.good look with that one
I love Ben's V-Tuned channel ESPECIALLY when he does frame work. Glad he is on board.. He has a great frame table and a natural talent to comprehend how bent metal moves back.. Decades ago when the family had a car shop, I really enjoyed hanging out at the frame shop where the oldsters could pull almost type of crush back into straight and true. Ben has the vision like those old timers.
The issue is that with aluminum, it's not really fixable like steel. You have to put new entire sections in. This means loads of custom fabrication - almost to where you'd be better off sending it to a shop with a CNC machine or that just deals with stuff like this.
@@plektosgaming Yes aluminum has its challenges... including being weaker next to welds. Fortunately, these are street cars with sufficiently oversize frame components, they can deal with repairs and/or manipulation and still be strong enough for safety.
This Ferrari of Sam's is setting up to be some of the best RUclips content I've ever watched. Finding it hard to hang off for the next episode. Plus bonus, a couple of new channels to follow.
This is going to be an interesting build. And Ben and Yuri are probably going to totally smash this one out of the park. Thanks Samcrac for supplying the donor vehicle 😊👍
I love seeing the culmination of 3 you tubers. Looking forward to seeing all the progress. Hey @Samcrac you have a spare car for your buddy Rick Chow 😂🤣
RUclips recommends me the Ferrari videos on Vtuned channel, I thought, what a coincidence, 2 channels rebuilding identical Ferraris, it never crossed my mind that it would be the same car, now I'm going to watch these videos.
I bought one of these jump packs a few months back when you showed it. I love it!! It works great charges fast and is high quality. Thanks Samcrac for showing it.
Very interested in seeing if you can escape the Ferrari name penalty of 100 grand on the replacement parts. Watching auto craftsmen build perfectly fitted quality substitute parts will be epic. Good luck on the car. The front left that took the impact looks to be about three quarters of an inch higher than the right. So the framework will require a stop about two feet back from the front end of the frame bar and a pull down to fix that. You may need to take the aluminum castings off and get a sand caster to cast your replacement aluminum parts at the ends of those frame members because they are cracked. It sounds expensive but with the old part available even if it's cracked, it's not that expensive. If they can weld those aluminum cast parts, it would fix that too. Craftsmen who weld aluminum correctly are really special people. I watch a guy name Alan Millyard on RUclips who is one of the finest aluminum welders, motorcycle builders and engineers in all the world. I can't wait to see this Ferrari standing gorgeous and tall again with 70 grand still in the bank.
@@Private011 True but if that Ferrari certificate could be had, the cars worth would skyrocket. Since this is a get it done right and sell it thing instead of a faithfully spend a gazillion dollars to restore it thing, the Ferrari certificate doesn't even come into play. But what does come into play is just how much money can an extremely well repaired Ferrari like this sell for. Pull thirty grand off the top of that and that is the money you can spend to fix it. You don't want to walk through this Ferrari swamp and make three grand selling the car.
@@phil4986 Why would Ferrari certificate it? It's a big risk to there name. And it's will be repaired by a unknown person to them. They don't care if they have RUclips skills, they care if they have the propper training and tools
@@Timberjagi That was my exact point about the car. There are two ways to do this. @@Timberjagi I understand your concerns but from what I see, the standard of repair is being pushed to a level stronger than the original structure and the entire repair is being recorded on video, so any short cut gets these guys sued into the ground. So cool to see Guni Wheels take off. I work at T-Mobile and activated the CEO and his family when they moved back from South Africa. Super nice people.
That subframe is toast...cast aluminium isn't meant to be bent and welded, anyone that has tried before will tell you its virtually impossible (especially on something that solid and strong!) it has micro cracks etc that are sketchy, save Ben the time and effort (it will just be a waste of His energy) and spring the funds for an undamaged one.
I did something similar to that about 15 years ago. I had to pick up a '50 Chevy that didn't even have a wheel on the front on one side. So I jacked it up, shoved trailer under, and once I could get it on I used a wheel dolly under the drum on the one side. I got it on and hauled it 100 miles.
Can't wait ..I have run into this same issue, it doesn't make financial sense to dump more money into a car so i 've parted my fair share of auction cars The problem is storage, your time, shipping, setting the auction up, and waiting for months upon months to get your money back.
Sam you are the master. I am totally hooked on this Ferrari project. I'm gonna tune in to V Tunned and his bro and see this turd transformed into the belle of the ball.
I'd love to see you take to a Ferrari dealership that can measure all the suspension points to see if it comes within spec? It's great that you're trying to fix such an expensive vehicle on the cheap but welding that cast chassis rail gives me a few doubts. Fingers crossed it all works out for ya 😉
@6:26 Off course, I do. If Sam can get it cracing, everyone can get it cracing. ;) @16:58 They probably make more money on filming the series of salvage repairs than on the car itself, so even if they take a loss they don't really take a loss. Otherwise even if it is done on a budget some folks forget the budget for their time.
2:18 - umm, don't forget that jumping your Ferrari can kill those ECUs in the back... Be careful with those... 17:16 - look at those lines! Makes me think of the time you repaired that white C6 Corvette, it was so cleanly designed and there was no such cluttered mess under the body panels. Crazy...
Sam contact Russ over at FerrParts for all your 599 stuff. If he doesn’t have it he will know where to get it. What ever you do please get a new subframe either new or used.
I'm just not seeing how it is safe to try and bend any of that frame back. Once metal is stressed, it can't be unstressed? Is the real plan to cut off anything bent and try to weld on a replacement section with an extra sleeve to reinforce?
So much effort for what is basically an Italian Corvette. I would have parted it out for sure. But hey… it honestly makes a great video… I can’t wait for more

you need a big bitumen area on your property so all the cars can be parked properly.. leaving cars parked on grass causes rusty under carriages cause the grass has constant moisture coming off it
You could have replaced CC brakes with conventional rotors if on a tight budget. For example rotors from Subaru WRX fit the 458, should be something similar for 599 too.
