Just recast everyone. We don't need the original characters. If it comes down to spending money on CGI or getting longer series, or more content, I'm all for watching Alden Ehrenreich and whoever they cast for Luke and Leia. I know some people won't like it but... *The Show Must Go On!*
At this point, I don’t want them announcing anything until it’s written in stone and they’re ready to market it well. It never does anyone any good to put the cart before the horse.
Lothal: Meiloorun fruit pie -- 100 credits Hoth: Snow cone pie -- 10 credits Coruscant: Jogan fruit pie -- 25 credits Tatooine: Womp rat pie -- 5 credits These are the pie rates of Star Wars.
If they want to bring back the original three main characters, perhaps it's time to recast them? After all, many actors have played Hamlet... Han - Alden is a good call, as it validates Solo and gives him a chance to take his Han further. Luke - Sebastian Stan would surely be a good fit? Leia - Billie would be a perfect call. She looks enough like her mum, and is a great actor.
Young Han (as you noted) & Lando have already been cast so you don't need to worry about that. Recasting them yet again would just be weird. Not sure about your suggestions for younger Luke and Leia though. Sebastian Stan is too old already, in his early 40s and if you are casting Han as young as Alden is (34yo now) then you have to have Luke (whose character is 13 years younger) look quite young, like mid 20s (in ROTJ the character was 23yo) which means maybe some minor ageing of Alden. I would say the guy who was the stand in for Mark Hamill for the BOBF Luke scenes would be a good choice, he looks quite a bit like him without the CG. His name is Graham Hamilton, so he's already got the name for the job lol....maybe a prosthetic nose would be all he needed (as well as a wig for Luke's mop). Obviously the same goes for Leia, who is the same age as Luke. Billie Lourd is already in her early 30s and, yes I know she is literally Carrie Fisher's daughter but she doesn't really resemble her _that_ much. Sure you can see it but it's not uncanny, which you need to be to play that character. IMO Millie Bobby Brown is a better fit.
People seem to be forgetting that Skeleton Crew was planned to have two seasons from the start and we haven’t heard anything about the second season in a long time. It’s possible that this Pirates show is either a code name for the second season or a sequel series that will replace it.
Let's go!!! I've been waiting for an underworld project for years! Honestly I hope for an animated series like "Tales of" format, but a bit longer of course. A few stories from different eras, like Maz, Hondo, Mandalorian era pirates and so on
The Star Wars franchise really needs to get on with developing Omega. Omega is the key to defeating Thrawn; and those strategic battles between Omega and Thrawn would be epic! We can’t wait 15 years on this, as the actors playing Fennec, Asajj, and Boba are beginning to age-out, and they are needed for Omega’s rescue from Thrawn’s capture to help prepare Omega for toppling Thrawn. Within this, is the fact Omega’s blood will be used for resurrecting Palpatine, as Project Necromancer gets resurrected from the capture of Omega.
Luke had such a memorable and glorious entrance in Mando’s season 2 finale and I also loved seeing him train Grogu in TBOBF. Most of all though, his presence made sense. I don’t mind a legacy character appearing if it serves the story but I do if it’s about fan service alone. Han or not, I’ll be showing up for Din & Grogu either way.
I really hope they work things out to bring the original cast back for the Mandalorian era story. Even if the cgi deaging stuff isn't perfect I still think it's worth it and would be awesome to see
My opinion is: We have enough content with Luke, Han, Leia & Co and we don't need more. Their stories are told. Is Disney not able to tell new stories with new characters? I would like a show of a Freelancer-Crew in the period of the Rebellion without any connection to the existing movie stories. Something like Firefly in the Star Wars universe with completely new characters.
@@OldmanSk8ing Seriously: I was very excited about Acolyte. There was all the potential I was looking for with a new storyline and new characters. Unfortunately it fails when the theory was put into effect.
Unfortunately the answer to your question is no. The real answer is Disney should have content for all generations ( except the not well received content) .
Except that's not what people are watching. It seems that Luke and co etc are where the bulk of the fans are and appears to be what will bring in the viewers. All the new stuff that isn't in that time period doesn't seem to be doing very well. I've watched everything so far, and I can understand why.
Actually, fans wanted the equivalent of Expanded Universe Jedi version of Jedi Master Luke and his new Jedi Order. (The closest we got to that was when Favreau brought him back during the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. The fans loved it. Unfortunately Kathleen Kennedy didn't, which is probably why Favreau was apparently sidelined during Mandalorian Season 3, when Chapek was no longer around to back him.) Except Kennedy and Disney decided to kill off his order before we ever got to see it and turn Luke into a miserable hermit. Kennedy, in particular, seems to LOVE destroying George Lucas's characters.
If they want put more pirates, we need them in the book of Boba Fett season 2 and the mandalorian season 4. Besides, we could see Maz Kanata and Hondo Ohnaka in Jedi Academy tv series. I did add Han Solo in the mandalorian movie along with Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, C -3PO, and R2-D2.
STAR WARS PIRATES! YES!! I'm a huge fan of pirates in Star Wars and would love to see any that are still alive whether they be Hondo and his band of scalawags, Varn and the survivors of Gorian Shards crew, Skeleton Crew pirates, or something totally new. I'd like to see a Captain Jack Sparrow-like character. Bring it on!
Anakin/Vader had 15 actors total, and disney is afraid to use even a second actor for Luke and Han. I want to see real Hamilton and Ehrenreich faces, instead of cgi/ai fakes.
So a series: Star Wars: Tales of the Pirates would be nice. Who doesn’t like a little Hondo! I mean, he threads across several shows and is a fan favorite.
What happened to “we’re killing all of our tv?”. LucasFilm is so confused now. They seem rudderless. DF needs to take the helm and push out a vision. This is so hodgepodge you can’t figure out as a fan what is coming and what is not.
I like Alden over Harrison. Harrison has turned into a real jerk over the years. I sorta lost my enjoyment from him. I always see him as a one trick pony with very little range as an actor. Every show he is in is the same character wearing a different suit. None of which we would care about if he had not been Han Solo from the start.
I am really excited to get more Bad Batch next January, something I have been hoping for since that issue of Hyperspace was released. I am hoping that we'll get more of an origin/ back story of Clone Force 99 during that mini comic series. As for Star Wars Pirates, it would make sense that it would be either featured length film, or an animated series. Since they're cutting back on live action shows on Disney+ for a while to just one a year, they didn't say much about any more films, other than "High Republic era movie", "The Mandalorian and Grogu", the "Unnamed" Dave Filoni movie, and "Rey's New Jedi Order". Then again, even with the cutbacks the possibility of another coming Star Wars live action series, it is still on the table but just won't get for a while. Still, even with the cutbacks they didn't say anything restricting to how many animated shows will be released in any time length period. So, the possibility of Star Wars Pirates as an animated show seems pretty strong, but it doesn't mean I'm ruling out there others.
Re: Han Solo. I have been a SW fan since I was 10 yo in 1977. I think it is time a torch is passed. I'm willing to give it a shot over horrible CGI and awful stories.
I can definitely see them wanting the OG characters in Mandolorian & Grogu. Remember Disney has announced a Mandolorian adventure will be coming to Millenium Falcon ride to coincide with the movie.
On the last bit, Disney wasted bring back Luke, Han, and Leia in the Sequel Trilogy in part because the films sucked but also they were never together and they all died 😢
Things that would make for good stories in my opinion-the hidden path, and a secret jedi order with Kyle Katarn,Mara Jade and purge survivors ,Imperial Remnants and the rise of the first Order,Sidious return, Darth Caedus,Lumiya and the 2nd galactic civil war,the New Jedi Order, the Vhong invasion,Darth Krayt's empire and the return of the Rakatan Empire from maybe Peridea.
Harrison Ford will end up doing Star Wars again if they really want him in the movie. This is the role he has always balked on so he can get more money. If they want him, they have to pay him what he wants to be paid.
Han Solo was one of Harrison Ford's least favorite characters to play. He liked playing Indiana Jones much better, and the CGI de-aging of him wasn't for very much of the film in Dial of Destiny. In any new Star Wars project, it would be for whatever the character would be in the show. In his Marvel role, he will be playing the President of the United States, which is very cool by itself, but he is also going to play Red Hulk. What an opportunity to try new characters!
I wish we talk about new star wars animated clone rebellion with cody and his squad, but Bad Batch ghost agents mini series comic seen look like they are part of 212th attack battalion as take place before Bad batch series. Clone Rebellion series also take place between The Bad batch season 2 and Kenobi series, the first season is likely take place in The Bad Batch episodes between The Solitary Clone and The Calvary has arrived Where Cody and his squad gonna be long journey to different path. I think we have to wait for star wars celebration 2025.
I don't want the cgi uncanny stuff. Just re-cast if you plan to use the big three during their young prime, but I also don't want a bait and switch of it only being cameos. Give them real plot points in the story, or don't bother.
If this is not animated series, then my guess is that it may be a Skeleton Crew feature film, as it has already been mentioned that Skeleton Crew is basically: "Star Wars: Pirates" AND because John Watts just inked a deal with Disney for feature films (and do we really believe they will just throw Jude Law away??!!), which probably happened because Bob Iger is pushing for feature films over streaming TV series in terms of bigger IP. Personally I would rather just have it be Skeleton Crew S2 and keep adding the likes of characters like Hondo, Sidon, Maz, Aphra, or bigger criminal enterprises like Kanjiclub, Red Key Company, Pike, Qi'ra/remnants of Crismson Dawn (what ever happens with the remaining Hutts now that they have been pushed off of Tatooine)...
If that's true, I'm absolutely on board with Harrison's decision to not green-light a CGI reunion of the old crew. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the project, but they had the chance to actually reunite the original crew when they were shooting the sequels. Such a big opportunity that was missed there. It's too late now. And I think there's a huge difference between him accepting a de-aged version of Indy and one of Han. Indy's a big part of Harrison's career, for sure. But Han simply hits different. The personal bond between him, Carrie and Mark was incredibly strong. I just don't think he wants to have an 'artificial' reunion now. Do we?
My new favorite SW "Legends" character from the book Honor Amongst Thieves that happens to be a "Pirate" named Hunter Maas. His a Nocho Libre type character literally discribed looking like Nacho Libre too😅. I desperately want see this type of character for the SW Pirates. To bad Jack Black has been used for M3
Just remember Harrison Ford doesn’t like Han Solo. He stated he doesn’t want to do any more Star Wars. For these live action movies we should get new actors that look like the trio. For the legacy actors, you should have George Lucas have input. Recasting is not a big deal Obi-Wan and Asoka and Anakin. What about Sebastian Stan?? what happened to that? Also, the only movies should be made is Mandalorian verse and the old Republic. nothing else. Just think how George Lucas ran things one at a time and has more weight to it. And I hate when they release something and they already have a second season when the first season has not came out yet. Problem is Kathleen Kennedy must go. We were on the right track with John and Dave what happened?
I can't help but wonder how many of the OC have signed off on their digital and audio likenesses to Lucus Arts and media after they pass like Jame Earl Jones had...🤷♂️🤔
Frankly, I just don't care. Rumors are contrived to try & keep fans interested. For now, I'll stick with the reliable books, comics & re-watching excellent former content like The Bad Batch, Rogue, & Clone Wars.
Simple solution: Make them ANIMATED series!!!! You can even save Rangers… and resurrect the Cara Dune character . EVERYBODY WINS!!!!! What’s the problem?
I just want another Star Wars like Andor. One that's got a minimal amount of memberberries. The same difference between Star Trek TOS and TNG or DS9 or VOY.
As for Pirayes, without knowing how Skeleton Crew will end, I think we can HOPE that Jude Law's and Tem could BOTH be in Pirates. As l9ng as they stay in the known Galaxy, centering this movie in Tatooine is possible. With the Pykes out, and (theory) the kids home at the end of Skeleton, Law could settle in Freetown, when the pirates come in, maybe as tools of the Hutt Twins. (New pirates or survivors of SC) Boba, Cobb and the gang team up to beat them. Now THIS I would l9ve yo see, personally. Now, about bring back Han, I am a HUGE fan of what Alden has done in Solo, and think he deserves another go, but I know I'm not the majority here. It would be nice to have the OT three back. Even in CGI, but im am very ok with recasting them. LFL has an actor that can be Luke (the visual model for CGI Luke. And Leia, again, CGI model for Rogue One. Alden, I think could handle it, and the poor receipt for Solo was situational. (Short time between Last Jedi and Solo, the resorting of almost everything due to change in direction and directors, etc) If they are to appear in Mandandorian & Gtogu, or even the Feloni film, we need to believe the characters are there. And believe in the portrayal.
Oh man, I would LOVE to see Harrison Ford's Han Solo de-aged! My worry is that Harrison Ford just doesn't want to do it though. He has always disliked his role as Han because he sees him as Luke's 'sidekick,' and he feels like he's better suited for a leading role. I think the only way they got him to come back for the Sequels is that they killed Han off, something Harrison Ford always said that they should have done in Return of the Jedi. ...but come on, Harrison!! We all love Han! PLEASE JUST LET US HAVE THIS!
tbh lucasfilms has almost exhausted the 3 main OT characters with several movies, tv shows and books it would be better for them as a franchise to adapt stuff from the old-high republic or after TFA instead of making everyone eat memberberries count how many shows/films we’ve gotten thats about the old-high republic and now count how many shows/films thats about luke skywalker
It's time to recast. I don't think they should ever make any live action projects in between the OG Trilogy with new actors, but prequels like Solo and New Republic-era sequel projects? Let's do it! Star Trek has proven recasting works. Star Wars can, too - they just need to put everything they've got into getting it RIGHT if they bring back these characters.
Regarding bringing back the original heros; PLEASE DON'T! As much as I would love to see additional storylines of the original heros, Disney completely blew their opportunity with their horrible treatment in the sequel trilogy in order to kill them off so they could replace them with their own IP characters that are just amalgamations of the original hero team. I would not put it past Disney to think it would be a great idea to buddy up Han Solo and Boba Fett, which I can definitely see them doing in a Mandalorian movie considering how they would love to put in all the top Mandoverse characters to get maximum audience interest and fan service at the climax of that arc. Disney has a tendency to dilute characters in order to make them morally acceptable and to check off focus group boxes (this is not a culture war type thing, its a character consistency thing). They already did that with The Book Boba Fett where the character was tamed down and did not come off as the hardend, cold bounty hunter that should have taken that character's past into being the head of a crime syndicate (character alignment should have been neutral neutral or neutral evil and not neutral good). Unfortunately, at this point, I have little positive expectation of Disney to do what is right with characters and longterm storylines that follow the Lucas myth making equation (what made Star Wars good) and instead create based on market testing and profit forecasting. I can definitely see Ford not wanting to see the Solo character mishandled more than it already was in the sequels.
When the film is released I might believe Disney LucasFilms has a new movie. They've announced then canceled to many projects for me to believe any report. As for the return of Luke, Leia and Hans? Forget de-aging and just hire new, younger actors. Look how successful the James Bond series has been, with all the replacement actors.
Yeah g'day, I am not holding much up considering LF's past with possible new projects and the massive letdown that involves. It's so good to hear that DH is doing a TBB comic series but above all, we NEED a Hondo series, whether animated or live-action. It's a goodnight from you and it's a goodnight from the broken, cantankerous, belligerent, obnoxious, obstinate, obstreperous, cynical Old Fart.
I don’t believe anything till Star Wars announces it and don’t care till then either. There is so much that gets thrown out there and even when SW announces something, it gets cancelled more often than not it seems.
Harrison Ford hates Han Solo he always has… He has wanted the character dead since the second movie. He needs to just sell all rights to the likeness and the character I bet he would under the condition he is never asked to play the character again… I hate to say it, but I think he despises the supporting role position… Or maybe there’s some loophole in using the actor who played Han Solo in the solo movie
I would love to see the golden trio again in live action set in the New Republic era but….not as CGI or Deepfake stand ins just for a cameo..I really don’t like the uncanny valley look of them. I would to see them recasted with new actors if and only if they will have substantial roles in Dave’s “Heir of the Empire” movie.
Harrison Ford might be a bit p!$$ed off with Star Wars. He wanted his legacy to be killed off. Asking him to come back, _again_ probably isn't such a good idea. Keep poking that bear and it'll bite.
First, I'm SUPER skeptical about the Taika movie, especially after Love And Thunder. Second, Harrison Ford has asked to be done with Star Wars for how many DECADES now? If he is indeed the "snag", he has no justifiable reason to deny fans some nostalgia. Not one. Maybe he's the only character that should stay dead. I have NEVER liked his dismissive attitudes in interviews when the topic of Star Wars comes up. I mean, this franchise didn't make him the big time Star that he is today, but it sure made him a lot of money. Pirates might not be everyone's cup of tea, in the same manner that another Coven of Witches other than Nightsisters could possibly exist...anyway, sounds like a fun show, so I'm all in, just like I am for anything Star Wars that comes out. And, no, Meg. Thank YOU for always bringing the business. You rock!
What do YOU think "Star Wars: Pirates" will be?
They're just going to make fun stories. The fans don't understand or want serious, consequential storytelling. They'd rather see a spectacle. We'll get a lot of shoot-em-up, sabers and spaceships.

I wonder if Pirates is going to be Rogue Squadron?

Pirates?! Everybody loves pirates! Sometimes you JUST know. Fade out.
Do we?
Thanks Meg I have mixed feelings.🤷🏼♀️
Again thanks for the video.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
Pirates is just a placement title for a series. It won’t get green lit unless there’s high viewership for Skeleton Crew
Star Wars can’t just keep relying on cameos.
Personally I'd rather them just have the OG characters recast
We were on the right track with John and Dave what happened?
if it get Hando in live action then go for it.
FWIW, I'm looking forward to Skeleton Crew.
I can't help but wonder how many of the OC have signed off on their digital and audio likenesses to Lucus Arts and media after they pass like Jame Earl Jones had...🤷♂️🤔
We need live action Hondo!
Frankly, I just don't care. Rumors are contrived to try & keep fans interested. For now, I'll stick with the reliable books, comics & re-watching excellent former content like The Bad Batch, Rogue, & Clone Wars.
Ford dont like Han Solo ...
In fact, its kinda common knowledge that Han's death was one of his conditions, when working on sequel trilogy.
Well, I’m sure the online trolls will crap all over skeleton crew because that’s what they do
Simple solution: Make them ANIMATED series!!!!
I feel like Sabastian Stan and Billie Lourd would be perfect way to continue with Luke and Leia before the Sequels.
(Short time between Last Jedi and Solo, the resorting of almost everything due to change in direction and directors, etc)
If they are to appear in Mandandorian & Gtogu, or even the Feloni film, we need to believe the characters are there. And believe in the portrayal.
I will give Skeleton Crew does well and I will give it a chance just as long as it does not get the "Acolyte" treatment.
It’s hard to get excited for anything SW these days.
tbh lucasfilms has almost exhausted the 3 main OT characters with several movies, tv shows and books
it would be better for them as a franchise to adapt stuff from the old-high republic or after TFA instead of making everyone eat memberberries
count how many shows/films we’ve gotten thats about the old-high republic
and now count how many shows/films thats about luke skywalker
Recast the original trio!
My Theory, it's an anthology film: Jabba the Hutt - A Star Wars Story starring Eman Esfandi
Yeah g'day,
I am not holding much up considering LF's past with possible new projects and the massive letdown that involves.
It won't matter.
I'm 52 and ready to get past the originals continuously being de-aged to make fans "happy". Just recast now please. Or move on for that matter.
I don’t believe anything till Star Wars announces it and don’t care till then either. There is so much that gets thrown out there and even when SW announces something, it gets cancelled more often than not it seems.
The new Rey movie got put on hold! The fans win again! ✊
Bring on STAR WARS PIRATES, YES, YES!!!!! to MAZ KANATA (sp?)
Harrison Ford hates Han Solo he always has… He has wanted the character dead since the second movie.
He needs to just sell all rights to the likeness and the character I bet he would under the condition he is never asked to play the character again…
I hate to say it, but I think he despises the supporting role position…
Or maybe there’s some loophole in using the actor who played Han Solo in the solo movie
Just downloaded the audible book but I am in the middle of the Bane trilogy so I will knock it out after.
PLEASE let Hondo show up!!!
Dear Disney, please stop.
Star Wars Episode VII: Mandalorian and Grogo
I would love to see the golden trio again in live action set in the New Republic era but….not as CGI or Deepfake stand ins just for a cameo..I really don’t like the uncanny valley look of them. I would to see them recasted with new actors if and only if they will have substantial roles in Dave’s “Heir of the Empire” movie.
Harrison is just trying to leverage to get more money
I really dont want to see cgi legacy characters. Recast them all 3 of them
Just recast them already!
Harrison Ford might be a bit p!$$ed off with Star Wars. He wanted his legacy to be killed off. Asking him to come back, _again_ probably isn't such a good idea. Keep poking that bear and it'll bite.
Ms. Meg, is Rogue Planet a good book?
Before anymore shows come out from Lucasfilm, THEY HAD BETTER GET RID OF THE WOKE EMPLOYEES THEY HAVE!!!
You rock!
Would rather see Gina Carano than CGI Luke, Han and Leia. Get Ingruber, Millie Bobby Bon Jovi and Sebastian instead
Or it a red herring to drum up free media coverage of star wars
Staaaaaaaaaaaaar Wars Pirates
Just recast the big three. People understand that actors age and die.
