Some songs, like this one for example are nearly impossible to not have heard at least once. So yes, he's probably heard it, but it's different when you actually listen and break down the lyrics of the song.

Even in her pop songs she has lines like:

Those are just her number #1 singles from the past two or three years.
She has two great (though under appreciated on charts) indie-folk albums named Folklore and Evermore (both projects she did during covid) that are wise beyond her years and commended for the complexity and timelessness of its lyrics.

Ignoring even her most praised works, even her most hated album, Lover, has very strong points lyricism wise. The less pop, more acoustic part of the album, especially that of which tackling her mother’s second battle against cancer is heart wrenching.

Fun Fact: The guy in the ‘blank space’ music video is named is Sean O’Pry. He was the top male model in the world when this video was filmed. I was in a car accident back in October 2013 and while I was going through my rehab process, O’Pry’s dad was one of my respiratory therapist

Taylor is from the South, where there is still a cotillion culture. The blank space is a reference to a blank space on a dance card and the sound effect is the click of a pen. Literally as she sings "ive got a blank space and ill write your name" what you here is the click of her pen.
She explains why she wrote this song at an acoustic live performance of it at the grammy museum, you should definitely watch that performance, it's beautiful.

Psycho Taylor IS so much fun. She's so effortlessly funny, and she's playing on all of the things people say about her and singing about "that" girl.
I really like the self-aware, ironic and introspective songs Swift makes. "Blank Space" is great, love "Anti-Hero," and "You Need to Calm Down" (that last one is more of a collective thing, but still)
This one is not self-aware though... Anti-hero is. But Blank Space is satire, she is NOT acknowledging she is the girl being portrayed in the song.

I have no idea why my teenaged daughters don’t like Taylor Swift… my eldest son and I love her! She is very creative, self-aware and versatile! If I had any criticism for her - and I’m certain she is likely aware of it - is that she can sometimes be too much of a people pleaser! I love the word play that you can discover even after your 20th listen. Small things like, “I can make all the tables turn”. There are three levels to that one. The one in the story itself, like she’s turning the tables on her boyfriend. The jab at the media portrayal of her- she’s taking the things they say about her, turning it into art and throwing it back in their face. Finally, she’s saying she can make the “tables turn” with her music (like record player turn tables). It’s so clever and I love her for it.
This was fun! I'm not a "Swifty" but have loved her since we saw her as a country music singing child. I laugh when people say things like "she can't sing" or "she can't write". I chalk it up to jealousy, either personal or as a form of promoting another artist.

“Read you like a magazine” is a play off of the common phrase “read you like a book” which is defined by Webster’s as “to easily understand the true thoughts and feelings of (someone) by looking at how that person acts or behaves.”
Think about how one digests a good book vs. a magazine.
A magazine takes a few hours at most and is a pop culture, possibly forgettable moment in time - a book takes days, weeks… and can become an iconic institution in your life or culture.
Such a clever way to talk about someone being a moment and not a memory.
And as we all know this song is about a character and not her… but it’s still brilliant storytelling.

dude I *NEED* you to react to Hozier's new album 'Unreal Unearth'. it's a concept album inspired by Dante's The Divine Comedy where he processes a recent breakup by weaving the emotions of that into descending through the Inferno, and each song represents a subsequent circle of hell (lust, gluttony, treachery, etc), and then at the end you finally have the ascent of coming out alive on the other side of it, and it's honestly the most staggering thing I've heard in a long time. I put it on casually not even being a particular Hozier fan and it moved me to tears. I bring it up because you're one of the few people who really takes their time with lyrics and literary/historical references and this album deserves that. Taylor's a great storyteller but the Hozier's lyricism is something singular, and I just know you'd absolutely kill a reaction video.
