- Today we learn that all Korean adjectives are actually verbs... and there's a jolly lot of them.
Ollie is studying Korean using the Talk To Me In Korean study books! We recommend these and all of the free resources you can find at talktomeinkorean.com if you're looking to self study Korean! (this isn't a paid advertisement!!).

There's no adjectives is like in spanish like the adjectives describes verbs 😂
@@Mia-27 For real? I speak Spanish and I don't understand... 😂😅
I'm a native spanish speaker and I think I get the concept. It's like saying "esta bonito" (it's pretty) "bonito" is the adjective but used with the verb "estar", bonito becomes a verb altogether. So in english the verb/adjective would be "being pretty". I think that's an easier way of understanding korean adjectives.
Margarita Borge Santiago Exactly! :)
@@kattcosplay4533 Pero ¿Por qué la frase "está bonito" se transforma en un verbo? :sss Yo igual hablo español desde que nací, pero en dicha oración veo al verbo y adjetivo por separado...No sé porque no lo entiendo ☹️
Ollie just needs to learn how to pronouce Korean sounds without having a seizure. I think that is step one.
The Ocelot his pronunciation would suit Cantonese I think..
this makes me laugh so hard because whebn i read the word seizure, a particular ollie face entered my mind.
sooyoung Cantonese will be too hard for him
I’m not very good at Cantonese so just take this with a grain of salt, but Cantonese is twice as Hard than korean
Seizure 😂
I wouldn’t really say “without having a seizure” bc that is kinda offensive to people who actually have seizures and ofc don’t say that bc there are ppl who actually have seizure... and he’s having a hard time pronouncing Korean bc its hard for him to pronounce some Korean words... and thats okay..
Ollie; "I know it in French, tais-toi." "Is that right Gabie?"
Gabie; "What?"
Ollie; "Tais-toi"
Gabie; "Datswa?"
Ollie; "Tais-toi!" "In French, does that mean shut up?"
Gabie; "Ahh- Tais-toi..."
Ollie; "I-😑I hate that..."
I am STILL DYINGGGGG OF LAUGHTER because of this... 😭😂
he is me speaking french, i don't know what am i sayin wrong but no one understands me
Mashallah tbark allah alhamuddillah inshallah better
i know I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch new series online ?
@Andre Salvatore i watch on FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Lance Thiago definitely, been using flixzone for months myself :)
As a Chinese, I just realized 😂 we ARE the German of Asia lmfao Gosh, it's so true 😂
Si_Vis_Pacem Para_Bellum I'm german and I can relate 😂🙋🏻♀️
I speak Chinese and I’m learning German🙃 Soon going to be able to speak two of the most angry languages:)
I feel so offended by everyone saying german is agressive😭😂
But.. with some words they are right.. KNÄCKEBROT
Die Tuhle Kiwi I honestly don’t think German is offensive, it’s a beautiful language (I’m learning it in school). There are just some words that sound quite angry
@@justanaverageboy3983 On the other hand its very funny so see what other people think about German😂
And good luck with learning German, don't give up on our many ways to say "the" and "a".. xD
I feel like Jolly's channel is the most realistic of all the learning korean language channels because Ollie just represents all of us~ the struggles of learning a new language ㅋㅋㅋ
yees x)
indeed ㅎㅎㅎ
Yes, and he makes us feel more comfortable to learn new languages.
Especially as an adult not living in the nation of the language you are trying to learn, as you don't speak it, write it, hear it, or read it all day, so you aren't forced to use it or try to think in it. Also, if you are lucky you maybe have an hour each day to do homework and really focus, but you really need several hours if you are going to make progress and you need a native speaker to practice with for those several hours. The fact Ollie has made the progress he has is pretty amazing.
@@kentvesser9484 Plus he has dyslexia which makes it that bit more impressive as I also have it and the idea of reading another language I don't even really know when I already struggle with my own is insane.
'Chinese is the German of Asia' 11/10
As a German I felt slightly offended 😂😂
I think Korean is Russian like. They have harsher sounding words LOL
Eun Yoo then you didn’t hear proper Russian it doesn’t sound Sharp at all and I can say that as a girl who is grown up with three languages German Russian and English
Eun Yoo Yeah I get what you mean but Russian doesn’t even sound sharp too it just depends on who speaks it
a bit ironic but chinese produces a lot of very good romantic and sad songs to contrasts with that description
Ollie: what's rabbit in Chinese?
Ollie: *plays something in Chinese*
Josh: That's a nursery rhyme
Ollie: I was gonna say, that's a really long word for rabbit

Honestly, I think the most important thing I learned while studying Korean is that it's actually all about verbs. Everything is a verb. Lmao.
I'm verbing right now lol
for real verbs are verbs, adjectives are verbs, nouns also become verbs like why are koreans so obsessed with freaking verbs😂
It's because we Koreans are super dynamic people. All roads lead to Rome and all words leads to verbs! Yes, we are 24/7 verb people! 빨리 빨리!!!
It's basically be+adj.
I am sad. : 나는 슬프다.

"since when was it going to be *28 degrees* today?"
While in Trinidad:
"it's a nice cool day at 31 degrees"
That's like the slightly below average temperature in Malaysia. It usually get 33 to 35 here in a normal day.
The normal temperature here in Oman is like around 35 degrees....😑😑😑
normal temp where i live is like 40-45 in summer and sometimes spikes upto 48C. whyyyy??! like whyyyy so hot😑😑😑😑😑
Here's hot when is over 29 degrees, normal between 21-28, and cold when is under 20, but it really DOES depend on which region you are in(Colombia).
Edit: because there's zones that normally are over 30 or 34 degrees, and another ones that normally are under 23.(Celsius)
Shut da hell up Dubai??
I had that same expression Ollie had when i found out the same thing about adjectives and verbs that become nouns...lol

"ferme ta gueule" or "ta gueule" is way more rude, it's "shut up" actually. And "tais-toi" is also "shut up" but... more nicely ? xD It's hard to explain but yea x) ...
Maïlis Thank you 😊
When Ollie says "I love you" and "rabbit" in german, it's so funny because I'm german😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kanin-chicken xD seriously though, I can understand why some other Korean teachers told Ollie that he sounds pretty aggressive while speaking Korean. He does the same thing with German lmao.

I am happy.
같은 경우 I 명사 am 동사 happy 형용사입니다. 꼭 문장 안에는 동사가 있어야 합니다.
나는 행복하다.
같은 경우는 나 명사 는 조사 행복하다 형용사
로 동사가 따로 없고 형용사가 체언을 서술해 줍니다.

“Every adjective is a verb…That’s the worst news I’ve heard all year.”
YEP. I couldn’t have said it better myself, Ollie.
That was exactly my reaction. Korean is maddeningly difficult to master even when you have a teacher. Studying Korean without a teacher is like banging your head against a wall over and over again.
@Leeka Scot

Well.. "Tais-toi" is more like "don't say anything OR don't say any more words". It's a polite forme to say "shut up".
But the real "SHUT UP" in french is "TA GUEULE" or "FERME TA GUEULE"
tais-toi is literally be quiet
shut up c'est pas forcément ta gueule.
Yes it's so funny I was talking with my sister in French yesterday and she goes "ouais ouais tais toi" and my dad's French isn't very good and he was like "hey that's not nice!" And we were both like no dad it's legit just "be quiet"
"ta gueule" is where it becomes more rude... so I think a lot of non native French speakers think tais toi is shut up
"All adjectives are describing verbs."
Literally made the same face as Ollie. I feel his pain
박루아 I
아니 문법 자체를 모르는데 어떻게 회화를 합니까ㅋㅋㅋ저런 기초중의 기초는 알아야함 그래야 뭘 시작이라도 하지
맞는 맣인데 병행하능게 가장 좋름. 저 과정도 필요하고 그 말을 쓰는 환경에 자주 녹아져 있으면 배가 되지만 타국에사 처음 배우는 외국어라면 헷깔려도 문법을 먼저 다지면서 가는게 더 수월하다거 알고있어요
As a German native I couldn't stop laughing after "Ich liebe dich" and "Kaninchen" 😂😂😂
5년 전에 진짜 재미있게 봤는데… 요즘 넘 힘들어 웃을 일이 없는 와중에 갑자기 생각나서 다시 와봤어요. 웃게 해줘서 고마워요 올리 조쉬!!❤
German doesnt sound angry or hard xD it sounds only hard wenn english speakers pronounce itxF
I have never related to a title as much as I related to this one
same here :D
Natalie 나탈리 same
This made me cry 😂 Ollie, I had the same exact crisis! *pained by uncontrollable laughter*
"Every adjective is a verb" is literally the best moment in any video on the channel. I think about it all the time. It's just gold. 👌
You guys are amazing 😍 I was literally laughing out loud
