Gabie had the instinct to grab the book because in a general asian community the textbook is used more by the teacher than the student. So if there is a situation where there is one book and a student and a teacher then the teacher would be taking the book to teach out of it while the student since he still has to learn the material will probably use a notebook to do the exercises.😊
@@kinulidd0598 lol I think he meant like catching a disease... She didn't have to actively learn the language, but she passively learnt it by being around people who spoke it. Like how you'd catch a bacterial infection. 😂

Perfect practice is what you want etched in your brain as you want to use that as a solid foundation to branch out into more sophisticated abstracts. Hope this helps.
Ollie's learning Korean is definitely my favorite series and we can tell Josh is indeed the perfect teacher for him 😂 can we get at least longer video for this specific videos? 10 mins is too short.. T_T
This was just pure laughter! I really enjoy your videos, love you guys. Much love from the Netherlands! *Ollie, here are some tips for your pronunciation: If you want to practice your pronunciation you could try the following: 1) Watch action/thriller/whatever genre Korean dramas or TV shows and mimic them 2) Sing Korean songs. You can do this in the car, in the shower, doesn't matter where really 3) mimic Josh when he's speaking to a Korean person (IF he's speaking a bit slower of course). Try to focus on how he is pronouncing the words
Seriously, I think the only way to accelerate the "absorption" of the Korean language, is for Josh, Gabie and the other Korean crew to speak only Korean when interacting with Ollie even off-camera.
it’s a great method ! i don’t have anyone around me who speaks korean so sometimes i’ll just turn on random k-dramas or variety shows in the background and listen to them talk while i do homework or even sleep sometimes. i find myself picking up on words randomly and if there’s something i hear but don’t recognize i’ll look it up and write it down. it’s really improved my ability to listen and comprehend !!
Gabbie: Good! Ollie: ... Great Gabbie: Good for you. Ollie: ... Gabbie: *bursts into laughter* Ollie: You can't just provide decontextualized encouragement. That's literally all I thought he's ever wanted!

I feel like there should be a video where Ollie teaches us all the Korean he knows so far and tries to explain it to us like a teacher :P to me Ollie is doing so well! haha i'm jealous. I want to be good at Korean.
That's actually a really good idea! Also just from a learning point of view, because you learn so much, from explaining what you've learnt so far, to other people. 😄
I think he has a lot of absorbed knowledge and I have to give him major props that he's not super shy or insecure about his Korean, but actually it's not like he's super far advanced or anything; you could pass his progress in less than a year if you put your mind to it! But for an adult with work and family responsibilities he's on the right track and I'd also love to hear him teach. It's not that hard to learn, I promise. I've studied two years and I can have conversations in Korean via text and I understand portions of almost any conversation I overhear and I consider myself upper beginner still. Good luck! Let me know if you want any tips on where to start. ^^

I think Dan is the best teacher for Ollie because he takes him serious, explains stuff really well- and Ollie actually tries really hard instead of saying just funny gibberish stuff... i mean, it can be really fun to watch but sometimes it's also a bit exhausting
reason why Ollie keeps forgetting what he just said is because hes not taking notes or writing anything on paper. This is very important because if you write something down, it goes into your memory rather than just saying it out loud. Taking notes is also important so you can refer back to it. I take ASL and ASL has not words since its a sign language. Even sign languages have something called 5 parameter you write down on paper so you don't forget that sign.

Perfect practice is what you want etched in your brain as you want to use that as a solid foundation to branch out into more sophisticated abstracts. Hope this helps.
“Juno ten feet outbreak” that’s got to be my favorite sentence Ollie has said in Korean thus far 😂
Ollie's learning Korean is definitely my favorite series and we can tell Josh is indeed the perfect teacher for him 😂 can we get at least longer video for this specific videos? 10 mins is too short.. T_T
Only Josh that have enough patient for him :'v
6:03 I CHOKE, did not expect that at all. Ollie seriously is a comedy genius
i'm both korean and english learner and all your channels are soo funny and always help me not to forget my languages. thank you nad love you guys.
This was just pure laughter! I really enjoy your videos, love you guys. Much love from the Netherlands!
*Ollie, here are some tips for your pronunciation:
If you want to practice your pronunciation you could try the following:
1) Watch action/thriller/whatever genre Korean dramas or TV shows and mimic them
2) Sing Korean songs. You can do this in the car, in the shower, doesn't matter where really
3) mimic Josh when he's speaking to a Korean person (IF he's speaking a bit slower of course). Try to focus on how he is pronouncing the words

Seriously, I think the only way to accelerate the "absorption" of the Korean language, is for Josh, Gabie and the other Korean crew to speak only Korean when interacting with Ollie even off-camera.
Nolsp That's a pretty good idea!
That's how I was taught English lol it's mad frustrating at first but works 100%
it’s a great method ! i don’t have anyone around me who speaks korean so sometimes i’ll just turn on random k-dramas or variety shows in the background and listen to them talk while i do homework or even sleep sometimes. i find myself picking up on words randomly and if there’s something i hear but don’t recognize i’ll look it up and write it down. it’s really improved my ability to listen and comprehend !!
@@rchltrbl2060 thats how i been learning for the past 8 years lol. But i only recently started learning hangul and actually learning how to read.
Kath Llame whatever works works !! but you definitely need that reading experience. it’s crucial lol

josh's seal laugh the whole time is one of the best parts of this video.

I just deeeeply emphasize to Ollie. If the day when Ollie master Korean comes, every second language learner could have hopes.
Oh man I'm crying. This is so funny. The subtitles add so much as then I can understand the mistakes he makes, hahaha
Gabbie: Good!
Ollie: ... Great
Gabbie: Good for you.
Ollie: ...
Gabbie: *bursts into laughter*
Ollie: You can't just provide decontextualized encouragement.
That's literally all I thought he's ever wanted!
im revisiting the old jolly, this is gold. well they are all gold look how far you have come.!!
now you are in my home land new zealand to unveil a carrot rocket?! lol WHAT!!
my wife and I with our three kids will be in korea, all of june we will use jolly videos to visit areas you have visited thank you for your channel.
I feel like that'd go about as well as the yasuhati challenge they did hahahahaha
I can only imagine some of the sentences Ollie would accidently teach us.
@@stephii993 lots to do with his bowel movements, I should think
I think he has a lot of absorbed knowledge and I have to give him major props that he's not super shy or insecure about his Korean, but actually it's not like he's super far advanced or anything; you could pass his progress in less than a year if you put your mind to it! But for an adult with work and family responsibilities he's on the right track and I'd also love to hear him teach. It's not that hard to learn, I promise. I've studied two years and I can have conversations in Korean via text and I understand portions of almost any conversation I overhear and I consider myself upper beginner still. Good luck! Let me know if you want any tips on where to start. ^^
9:00 I love the way Ollie looks so proud as he is applauding himself! XD
7:51 his pronunciation was literally perfect when singing 🤣
Ollie he is be good-natured
If I learn English from English
If you laugh at me
I will be ashamed and angry.
But he does it with a smile.
I think that's why he's so cool.

I wish there was a Channel that made learning Japanese as fun as watching Ollie learn Korean. Does anyone have any suggestions?
lemme know when you find one
I'm looking for that too
