I disagree with the part about G’s music. I honestly think G’s theme give us the biggest hint on what type of character he really is behind the theatrics and boasting. The subtlety of the beginning of the song, which leads into a explosion of the horns as the hook, gives me the sensation of a creeping presence who’s just waiting for the right moment to reveal itself. Just as G slowly wins over the people of the world in his own weird fashion for his unknown grand schemes, the song does the same.
Pay no attention to abi. He is entirely tone-deaf and has shit taste when it comes to music and character designs.
Take the song and flip the waveform (reverse it) and take a listen.

Realistically a good opponent won't give g the time to level up unless he sacrifices advantage on wakeup (like Q)
Personally I feel G's theme is all about how historical and traditional phrases and values can still resonate so well in a society that is moving forward beyond such history and traditions. It's all a nod to not forgetting what got us here, to the present day.
Also, it fits with Tsunami so fucking well. Seriously.

I have two points want to bring up. First: In Japan, the word that describes The Earth is "jikyuu", and as you can tell, G does draw parallels to Q from SF3, hence "G-Q". It's a subtle pun Capcom slipped in and I love it.
Second, the music. When it comes to musical symbolism, I'd say this song fits G perfectly. He saw a world full of strife and conflict, hopelessness and despair, signified by the disorderly mess of notes at the start of his theme. As G would step in to try and send a presidential message of hope and goodwill, some classical brass instruments kick in, signifying his message being delivered. It is then that the world hears and resonates with him, causing the symbolic mingling of both the modern synths and the classical brass. It shows that messages, sayings, and even solutions that are centuries old, even more so, they can still survive or even thrive in today's world.
I legit think G's theme is supposed to be underwhelming, as a huge counterpoint to his bombastic personality and to top it all of, notice the "feeling" of the song.
First it starts mysterious and intimidating, to later when the trumpets enter the theme drastically changed to light-hearted, but still sounds mysterious, kinda like "What we though G is gonna be like" to "What G actually really is"
The theme has swagger, just like G, and the fact that it's a more underplayed theme actually makes him feel more "legitimate".
It isn't loud, proud, cheesy, it's played down, proper, mysterious, and catchy and smooth.
He's not a raving lunatic, full of himself. He's your president, and the smooth charm, and uplifting tone of the horns invites you to accept him as such.
"You know, I think something is shit because is supposed to be shit".

If someone has a problem with G's music, just mod the game and replace his theme with the Senator theme from Eternal Champions.

I think he's like, 90% of people favorite, hell, I hate SFV, and he made me want to play the game, that says a lot about his charisma
Especially because of a move where afterwards, he snaps his fingers in the most stylish way. It's surprising awesome compared to some of the other lackluster characters 5 gave us.

His music is supposed to be mysterious, and it also reflects the fact that he is a character that gains momentum. Once that train starts going, it can be quite difficult to stop.
But if you want, you can just treat *James Brown - Living in America* as G’s theme. Lol
I think G's music is fine, and some overblown Sousa theme would be outright detrimental to G's design, both thematically and mechanically. G's theme has its own swagger. As you say, Street Fighter is already filled with "strong", bombastic themes. G plays by his own rules at his own pace, as does his music. Despite the political message, G isn't a real president or a bureaucrat. An overblown Sousa theme would pigeonhole him as a political wannabe, when he's something else (whether that something else is benign or evil.) On a more practical concern, G has a lot of voiced lines, which he delivers with a projecting, but still "speaking", voice. A more overblown theme would compete with his voice. G's theme not only doesn't drown out his voice, it blends well the with flow of his dialogue.
I like his theme it ain't bad actually. His theme starts off sinister, synthetic and ofc *Mysterious* sounding, then becomes jazzier more light hearted with the combination of sax and trumpet it really gives the cheesy oldschool presidential vibe
True, besides the subtler tones imply that he's rather mysterious, which let's be honest, HE IS, so I couldn't think of a better theme for him, it has to flair, the mystique and posture.

It may be not so subtle as some other characters' themes (RASHIIIDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO), but it feels so good to listen to even after many many times

I don't care much for the gameplay of SFV, but G has become one of my favourite street fighter cast members of all time. Given his purple eyes and other hints at his supposedly significant role in the street fighter story, I doubt this will be the last we see of him.
I don't know why you talked about mystery being a theme of G's character and yet completely miss that point with his mysterious-sounding theme. Just because he's a president doesn't mean every single president character has to have a patriotic marching band theme.

I think G's theme is one of the best in the game to be honest, it's my favourite to listen to at least, but I genuinely think it works in his favour to have such a divide between his personality and his music. By juxtaposing his bombastic personality with his theme you question how real he is, the theme sounds so much colder and much more intimidating than he presents himself, then the flair of the trumpets fits his louder, more welcoming personality.
It has a mysterious vibe, and the almost robotic sound of it could also relate to Q
And though I think this is coincidental, and I may be reaching a little, but it reminds me a fair bit of Jean Michael Jarre's music, specifically Oxygene (Especially with the wind sounds in there), which if you know the album cover, the earth peeling open to reveal a skull, definitely gives me the feeling that G is up to no good
G is the reason I picked SFV up again. And his theme is actually my favorite. That Saxophone is just pure MMMMMMMmmmmmmm. LIGHT IT UP🌏🎷🔥🔥🔥

I think G's fantastical panache is juxtaposed well with his very subdued but still energizing music.
When this dancing political showman is out there vying for your undivided attention, the music is there entirely to emphasize his presence. Heck, the dude probably travels around with an orchestra to play music on-site.

Might be something obvious, but G references having "The Power of Gaia". Gaia is the Greek name for the earth. Not sure where to go with that but it's something.

One of my favourite touches on G is his idle stance. It's just like one of those old timey boxing stances, which just compliments his character design.

I noticed that when Q fell, just where his nape is you can see bits of blond hair.
I think his theme song fits actually it has a certain swagger and chill meaning yea you can trust him in a way. It makes it memerable in a way compared to the others high octane music.
I like to think that Q is G’s version of a Man in Black, the trilby and trench coat giving off that “civil but still mysterious” vibe, and the metal mask potentially meaning that Q is a robot/cyborg, and the man in Black analogy could explain why Q can be in so many different places at once, as shown in his story. And the men in black of reality usually appear before, when, or after something normally illogical happens, silencing any potential witnesses.
To me, it is obvious that G and what he expresses on the outside are only the surface of the much deeper chasm he really is.
I can't wait for SF6 to reveal what is behind G as a character in the story, and Q

I would go as far as saying that Q is a failed experiment of super soldier based on G. Also, you can write a G as an incompleted-circle of a Q.

Almost everything is perfect for G ! But the thing i like the most is the voice acting ! It sounds so good, and it's quite surprising that it's the same guy that made Rufus.
@SugarPunch Design Works: When making the Kage episode, please keep in mind he's not the physical manifestation of Ryu's Satsui no Hado, that's just what the Capcom Unity blog says, however in Japan Kage is considered nothing more than a shadow (that's literally what his name means). He's the personification of Ryu's struggle with the Satsui no Hado, and his Character Story takes place in-between "A Shadow Falls" during Ryu's "Special Training". Kage Naru Mono = Kuruoshiki Oni, both are demons from the Japanese mythologies that are being suppressed by Ryu and Akuma respectively. This is also why their height and weight are stated to be unknown - they're incorporeal. As we know, SF universe consists of not only the physical realm, but also the spiritual plane which was shown in the SFV: Arcade Edition opening (everything happened in Ryu's mind) and in Sagat's mini story. It's also the realm where Necalli tried to absorb Nash at the start of the cinematic story.
That's a lot of words just to say the he's a total shit character.

I just now got it!! Canonically, SFV comes before SF3. During which time, there is also the fall of Neo-Shadaloo. Or, at least, their disappearance. What if also durong that time, The Illuminati does something to G, extracts his magma powers and leaves him sort of broken. Thus why Q wears the madk and his moves are a lot rougher. Also.... together, they make the pun of "GQ" (which is the mens fashion magazine, Gentlemen's Quarterly), which is also used to comment on how nice a man's suit looks.
Ever hear of Q-ANON in real life? Q is the 17th letter of the alphabet & is said to be the highest level of security that only the 'president' has access to. G is a common 'character' in freemasonry.... some real illuminati shit being dumped in SF5!

I think G is that much of a showman, it’s even shown when you pick him in the select screen with the quote “Why thank you, I AM the world president!”, he’s thanking you for *choosing* him.
I feel like G’s theme is meant to be a companion piece to his design, like it’s hinting that something is *up* with G which makes sense given his mysterious nature and origins.
I love G's theme, I think it expresses his mystery and how charismatic he is. That's just my taste/opinion but its a great video, I have been waiting for you to cover G.

Prediction: Q is a project from a revived S.I.N. under Seth similar to the Eleven and Twelve projects, but more mechanical. The Q drone or drones copy G's moveset.

I dunno, I really like G's theme and I think it fits him. It really adds to the mystery of who the hell he is and what his origins are. His theme shows that there is some weird mystery behind the chatacter, to the point of being something supernatural.

I always figured G's theme was supposed to continue the mystery of the character. We don't actually know anything about his purpose and motive, and that seems like what that theme is still trying to convey, with the light brass somewhat tying back to themes of presidency.
Also the gold world markings are "revolving"
his v-trigger 1 fully covers himself with the said gold color and the 2nd makes his fists fiery with lava.
i think his theme is pretty swaggy, got that 50s swing style to it. and im all for G is Q. i think that would give his character a lil more depth. Hes Q when he wants to be out and about, with the people, protecting the people.

I feel like theme songs for street fighter v is about the character's mentality and personality. Because he seems to be hiding something, G's theme song is supposed to be like the subtlety of G's secret compared to his Moveset, design and (possibly facade) personality.
G is pretty much the bes t SF character (as at least desing wise) imo. His charisma is higher out does any other character before him and he has actually swagger

I think Q is supposed to be the ruler of the divided version of Earth, as all world's
disputes are actually the plans of Q while G is supposed to be the ruler of people working together.

dude he's got the best theme in the game. perfectly groovy/suave and in my head canon G was captured by the illuminati to prevent competition to their coming world power attempt and used him as their first experiment in a program that over the years would eventually create Necro and 12. The experiment was deemed a failure and the only thing that remained was an abomination husk of G, who then became known as Q, fighting with broken moves from the remains of G's destroyed psyche

I actually like his theme
In addition to being fucking sick, it being snazzy yet understated does fit his character
He has incredible power and carries himself in a bombastic manner, but it's not like he's actually the literal president of the world, or someone worshipped by societies; he's not actually a well-known figure, but something more akin to a myth, like that classic story of a homeless person who turns out to be a god- except in this case instead of a homeless person it's like a funny professional wrestling persona
“Some questions are better left unanswered…” and G is the best example of that fact…
I love the fan theory about the G being the Cosmic Man. As for the theme: Personally I think it's genius and suits him perfectly. You skipped the part where in his story mode other characters refer to him as being "The Fool" (hence his hobo look and the light-hearted trumpets in his theme), and you also need to take into consideration that "President of the World" is not a real world title, even in SF universe. He's the only person calling himself that (at least for now), but he behaves like he's a real deal anyway. When you think about that, then his behaviour starts to look kind of silly. It's only his mysterious powers that somewhat legitimize his claims and makes you wonder who the hell is he, and the electronic music part of his theme reflect that. He's mysterious. He's a wonder. He's also a fool at the same time. And his theme reflects that perfectly.
