- Removing and installing interior trim pieces can be a challenge. Tight-fitting panels with blind clips and screws make things a challenge.
6:20 There was a screw under the armrest I was missing so don't make that mistake also!
Thankfully, Acura made working on the 2021+ Acura TLX interior pretty easy! At least when it comes to installing accessory interior trims, that is.
This DIY video walks you through swapping out the center console and door panel trims. The process is the same for the carbon trim (08Z03-TGZ-210), wood trim (08Z03-TGV-220), or the aluminum trim (08Z03-TGV-230A).
Buy these pieces on Heeltoeauto.com!

Hey Markus , many thanks for a comprehensive video. Really helpful. Installed it today with your video instructions. Appreciate.
Glad it helped!
I can't believe it was that easy. Thanks so much for this video
Very easy
Gorgeous I wish they have this for my 2020 Acura MDX
This is what i absolutely adore about Japanese cars! their easy to maintain and easy to work on.
Couldn't agree more!
AHC garage posted a video as well! This is informative too! Much appreciated!
Not everyone has a dealership at their disposal. That's where Heeltoe comes in!
Been waiting for this tutorial video cause I definitely would like to install it myself and get the trim cheaper
Heeltoe has your back!
Ok just got this 5 days ago I gotta get this now, but first still trying to get the side skirts but this is a great addition
If we can help get them let us know!
@@Heeltoe. Yeah thx,I was gonna order from the website but the shipping price was pretty high but understandable because I live in Jersey
Es muy bonito buen trabajo me gusta felicidades excelente verygood.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come!
Wish u had trims for 2012 TSX Se. So hard to find 😩😩... U guys did awsome on the tlx trims
Yeah, shame that Acura only started making these parts for the TLX.
Awesome! Thank you for creating this! Have you installed the side underbody spoilers and/or the mudflaps yet? I'd be interested to see how they're installed and if you can get the front ones to work with the spoiler installed.
I did the side skirts but did not make a video. They are really simple also. No the front lip kit will not work with the Type-S front splitter. But we are making a solution for that!
@@Heeltoe. any updates on the front underbody spoiler solution to fit with the Type S front splitter?
@@franklledo6169 None at the moment but we should have some content for the decklid spoiler in the coming weeks.
I let the dealer do it, I paid $753 parts and labor. I wasn’t risking it on my brand new car
I will get a cigar or two and spend a few ours in front of my garage having fun installing that staff, cause $75x is a bit overpriced)
I liked the comment, but I don't agree. 7xx plus is way too much when this video is giving you the information for free. There is a lot of satisfaction of putting it apart and back together even a few clips break, it's ok! It's a life learning experience, plus the car won't last forever so enjoy it while it lasts.
Nice tutorial. I thought of an anti theft method. Keep the start/stop button unplugged & thief can’t start the car.
What is that anti theft system? I would like to know what that is
Keep the start/stop button unplugged.
Thanks for the great video. Any idea how some of the trim panel lights might behave with the base tlx?
Base models don't have the iconic drive lighting feature. Not sure if acura used a rgbw strip with coloring disabled in the base or just a white led strip. Little concerned that might lead to some funky coloring due to potential led strip differences, so curious if you guys had tried it. Thanks!
TBH, I really don't know!
At 8:50 by the door handle bowl there’s a blue piece for the door handle bowl lights, do you know what that piece is called or have a part number?
Where is the link to the instructions?
Fyi at 6:20 you missed one screw under the window switches. I did this as well and noticed on reassembly that the center of the door card wouldn't go in all the way because the screw and plastic clip were still attached to the door card. If you haven't fixed this I'd strongly recommend taking the cards back off and checking
Thanks for that!
Are you for real ?
@@brandfieldward3575 as real as they get
For the second piece you replaced, what is the name of the piece it is attached to? My car has some scratches on it and instead of going to an upholsterer to fix it I am considering replacing it but do not know how to search for it because I do not know what it’s name is. Any help is appreciated!
Nice video, do you know how to remove the glossy black cover around the transmission button. Would like to get it wrapped.
Have not pulled those out yet...looks like with these trims removed a couple more screws and a couple clips hold that panel in. It just pops out it seems.
You might want to make a sticky or add an in video comment, there is one additional screw under the door arm rests that you ripped out with each panel…the plastic piece that the screw fastens to is visible on the video as the pink plastic fastener housing middle of the bottom part of door panel - this piece should stay on the door frame.
Yes, we learned that after the fact. We'll put a comment in the video now, thanks for the suggestion!
I know it's been a while since you guys posted this video, but I need to open up the center console to clean up a soda spill that has left the drive button, touch pad, volume knob, and skip forward/back button very sticky and is interfering with their function. Any advice?
Oh how annoying! Unfortunately we don't have more details on the tear down of the console besides this at the time.
Once you got the door panel off, could you have separated the silver piece and just vinyl wrapped it? Hard to tell if the silver part could be separated.
Sure the pieces can be wrapped, but they have a texture also so not sure how that will work out.
Question, I purchased the Type S Carbon kit for my 2022 TLX A-Spec in Canada and when I connect it, it doesn't light up! Canadian A-Spec's only light up in red and you can not change the color but on the new Carbon kit, I believe you could change it (like the Type S). I don't want it to change but is there a trick to hook it up and light it up? I also noticed that the kit electric connections are all blue (just like it is in the video) but the ones on my car are red ! any help is appreciated !
I imagine that the lighting kit probably is not sure how to communicate with your car. It would be most appropriate to get a kit made for your specific vehicle.
Where did you get the trim is it from the dealer? I am interested in doing this to my TLX Type S I was thinking of getting the dealer to do this but your video makes it seem very easy to do.
We sell it at Heeltoe. See the link in description.
Type s already comes carbon fiber tho
Will these CF pieces fit the MDX Type S as well? If not are there CF pieces available for the MDX Type S?
These parts would not fit, but there may be an MDX specific kit, we don't have it in our catalog if they do.
Where did you get those carbon parts from? I would like to do the same with my TLX
See video description for links
I wish u had the MDX lol
My wife wants one pretty bad....
Thanks for doing this video. The dealership in memphis wanted 3000.00 for the carbon fiber. I told them about your video and how full of 💩 they were.
They maybe were quoting the whole package of carbon, 3 kits. It does not sound out of line for the interior trim, spoiler, and diffuser all installed.
@@Heeltoe. gotcha. Thanks
I just did the driver center pieces and the driver side has a small gap between the padded dash piece and the carbon panel. Do you have any ideas if what might help fix it?
Pop it off, look and make sure it is assembled correctly, pop it back in, make sure you did it right, basically.
@@Heeltoe. Thanks, I did that three times and it's right. I think I got a defective part. :(
@@thehillbillysynthesist That's pretty unlikely. Maybe take it to the dealer. *shrug*
will this fit into 2023 TLX aspec?
Yes! No problem at all.
You forgot to remove the screw under the armrest. When you removed the door panel you can see the screw coming through the pink clip on the inside of the door panel.
Yeah someone else mentioned that! Doh!!
@@Heeltoe. I’m about to embark on the same thing. Hope it goes well :)
@@TheCarCrazyGuy piece of cake
@@Heeltoe. It looks easy. I got this!
same for the a spec?
Basically, yes.
How much did the parts cost?
Links to the parts are available in the description! Check them out :-)
Very good question, I would like to know also, I just got my Type S 19 days ago
He's yummy!

How Dumb for 2023 not even a touch screen , and even worse a 4200 car
355 hp, this for sure should have the Rtype calledRS and give it 450 HP
For 2024 they are speaking about making it happen . I will be 1st in line next fall to get one
Since the NSX is retired ,they built this engine with 6 bolt mains which is super heavy duty
Regular TLX 2 bolt mains ,and will have a nice touch screen and redesign but will add about $6k A engineer in Ohio my brother knows spilled the beans,
Thanks for the comment!
