All the polls show just the opposite. DT is going to easily best Biden and sail into the WH come Nov. It isn't even going to be close. I expect he'll get 400, or 450 electoral college votes. The ONLY solution available to us is the voting booth. That and a push for congress to pass laws SPECIFICALLY outlawing any interpretation of the constitution that assigns powers akin to a king to anyone. A reinforcement of the idea that no one is above the law. Only define "official acts" as those in the best interest of the country as defined by congress.

Lawrence, this is twice you've kept me out of the depths of despair and almost unable to even go on. Seriously, i even swore off of watching any more news. You gave me hope the night after the debate on your show and with your VERY well stated and logical point after point brought me from frozen in soace and time, writing a letter to Biden, but not knowing whst to write - all the way back tp ALL IN for Biden as i have been for 50 years. Before the debate, I was unaware that Biden had made two trips to Europe, crossed twelve time zones, dealt with Hunter's conviction, spent a week preparing for the debate, developed a cold bad enough to require a Covid test, and then participated in a number of events on the day of the debate. They aren't appointed by a president. They are nominated by the president (in this case actually by the Federalist Society, who passed the names on to the president), then approved by senate. And the senate did a very, very bad job-- there was a Republican majority then.

But, even so, Trump is NOT immune, and the following is just one example: On page 8 of the SCOTUS immunity decision: Trump’s use of the fake electors certificates by Trump satisfies criminal intent to violate 1512 2, even under the new SCOTUS immunity ruling in Fischer. Trump is not immune.

That is the problem when SCOTUS judges are politically appointed. To alleviate this, appointment shouldn’t be arbitrary nominated by the party in power but rather should be via a lottery, whichever party wins get to appoint the judge, this way there is a random appointment and perhaps a more balanced SCOTUS.

And what Lawrence has overlooked here (and perhaps what the MAGA component of the Supreme Court also intended), is the persuasive effect that the powers Trump will be able to exercise - if re-elected - will have over anyone involved in his future prosecutions. Knowing that this will be a revenge presidency/monarchy, they'll now be aware that if linked to further prosecutions - whether as judges, prosecutors, witnesses or jurors - Trump and his MAGA cohorts will make sure that their lives won't be worth living.

Those who voted in the majority in this decision need to be held accountable for upholding the violation of the Constitution.
Trump has now written to Judge Merchan to get his recent conviction overturned, on the basis of yesterday's ruling! However, the recent convictions were committed BEFORE he was even president, so it's ludicrous. Whilst the accounts in this case were 'signed off' during his term, he STILL committed the crimes during the run-up to the 2016 election, so immunity cannot be applied retrospectively in this way. I trust that Judge Merchan tosses this application to overturn and sentences Trump as he should be.
