    I have been waiting for this installation, looking forward to future reviews. I am looking to replace a set of Pirelli MT 90's on the same bike. Dunlop like Pirelli is a tire I know I can trust. I have always had good performance and mileage with the D606's. That's the only tire that I ever use on my '97 RXC 620. I would like to see you get 6,000 plus miles. I'm super excited for these tyres. I think they will match the capability of my V-strom. Here in Britain, we don't get sandy roads all that much, but we do get a bit of cold weather, rain, and mud. So I'll be watching out for that mud test.

    I only wish Dunlop Australia would import these here. Maybe I will have to ask the local BMW motorcycle club to bring in a container load...
    I don’t mind lower wet performance as long as dry road and dry dirt performance is good. Happy to compromise this way...

    I have them mounted on my AT and love them. They don’t handle the wet as well as Road 6 but is the best 50/50 tire I’ve tried and it looks like I’ll be getting about 12,000 miles out of the rear. So for me they are a keeper. I’ll try the Raid on my CRF300L Rally on the next tire change.

    I am narrowing down my next tires for my 2018 KLR650 to the Dunlap Trailmax Mission, Mitas E07+, Motoz Adventure, and Shinko 700. I ride 98/2 in Florida, but the 2% is typically sugar sand or mud so I feel compelled to run 50/50 or 60/40 tires as my offroad skills are mediocre.
    I bought the bike with Mitas MC24 Invaders. On my 08 KLR 650 I ran Kenda Big Blocks and Shinko 244 Golden Boys. On my 08 650 vStrom came with Battlax A41 and put on some a little more dirt oreinted perhaps a Shinko 700. I sold the vStrom shortly after putting on the Shinko 700s. They seemed pretty good on dirt roads and hardpack trails, but I never took it in the sugar sand.
    My goals are a minimum of 6k-8k miles on a rear tire, decent wet road performance, and reasonable to pretty good sugar sand performance. I ride dirt roads and good trails to motocamp. I ride back roads for scenery and enjoyment. Semitechnical riding is sometimes a necessity to get to the destination. It is not the fun.

      My followers in Florida LOVE the Motoz RallZ in the rear and the Dual Venture in the front. Second suggestion would be the Mitas E07+ or the new E12 which look amazing. I have a short video on those coming soon!

      @@manybikes My cheap bone is thinking the Trailmax Mission might be the better value after mileage is factored in. Your review of the Mitas E-07 and E-07+ with the unpredicable washouts on the front discouraged me. The Motoz tires are still on the table as is the Shinko 700. The Shinko 700 is inexpensive and I believe I could spoon it one and off. I am not too sure whether I could spoon some of the other stiffer tires when on the road. The Trailmax Mission and Shinko 700 are not near as capable in sand and mud as the Motoz Tractionators, but they seem to be predictable.
      None of the other Mitas E-07 and E-07+ plus reviewers mention the unpredictability, but only you reviewed them in deeper sand. Right now the E07+ are the only more premium tire I have found in stock. I can by the Shinko 700.
      I have about 2-3 months to pull the trigger. Anything on the list will be a significant offroad improvement to the Mitas MC24 Invaders.
      To make matters worse, this fat old man is a squid rider. Standard gear is shorts, tennis shoes, and t-shirt. Forty plus years ago that would have been fine for semitechnical riding. My worst road rash as a teen was from low siding on my ten-speed bike when my pedal hit the ground. I got my calf, thigh, and upper arm. Off roading motorcycles was good for a few bumps, bruises, and burns.

      @@manybikes I finally purchased my unicorn tires. I opted for the Motoz GPS on the back and Dual Venture on the front. I purchased the Motion Pro bead breaker and 3ea tire leve set with short, long, and long curved. I passed on the Bead Buddy after seeing you use a small block of wood, something I have plenty of and it looks smaller than the professional tool. I even have some 1/2" PVC plug caps that I am going to try that are even smaller and lighter.
      Any thoughts on Ride-On balancer leak sealer on a KLR650?
      I didn't go quite as offroad as you recommended, but anything will be a substantial improvement over the Mitas MC24 when going offroad. I initially passed on the Motoz GPS because of the center strip, but I saw enough good rain reviews that changed my mind.
      Also, I am not seeing the lead spoke weights. What is up with that?
      Thanks for all the great video reviews!

    Great video as always Kyle. I'm stuck, trying to decide between the Dunlops and the Pirelli Rally STRs. My V-Strom 650XT has Karoo 3's which are perfectly capable off-road but I'm not too impressed with their on-road ability. They are also noisy and rough riding. I realize they Dunlops are considered 50/50s while the STRs or not. With that said how would you compare these two tires? Are the STRs better on road? How much better in your opinion are the Dunlops off road when compared directly with the STRs? Thanks again for your outstanding content!

      Alright Neil... here we go... Thanks for watching by the way, much appreciated. When you are ready to purchase (if you don't go through a local shop - I do like it when you support local) Give me a shot to fulfill your order on a site I have just created: www.MotoCityParts.com Back to the topic at hand... The Karoo 3's are great off road but they are very bumpy an loud... that is for sure! The STR is a "sportbike tire" on the street. The sidewall is soft and provides AWESOME feedback from the road. It is sticky, has a great profile and feels really really good. That being said... I really did not like it much off road. The blocks are too big and the voids too small to really grip the dirt like I would want / expect. The Dunlop is a great 50/50 tire but it has its drawbacks too. It is HEAVY and for the limited HP of the 650, that might be a hindrance. The Mission does well off road, but don't expect to go all the places you have taken the Karoo 3 "easily" as it is no where near as aggressive as the Karoo 3 in the dirt. On the street its a good tire too. Nice profile, good rubber compound and it just works. The STR is 1/2 the dirt tire that the Mission tire is, which is half of what the Karoo 3 is ;) Conversely the STR feels like a full on sportbike tire on the street, the Mission is a true 50/50 and the Karoo 3 as you know isn't too good. It really depends on where you want to make the sacrifice / compromise.... on the street or in the dirt. Hope this helps! - Kyle

    Hi Kyle. You run 30 psi front and rear for your tire tests. Would you run the same if you are touring and transitioning from tar seal to gravel all the time? I have a 1200 GSA and I normally run about 33 in the front (2.3 bar) and 39 in the rear (2.7 bar), so just a few psi off the road pressures. I am intermediate level at best off-road, so not going hard out. Just looking for a good balance to have good on-road handling and still have enough grip in the gravel.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 года назад +1

      The 30 psi for the test was just to give all the tires a fair playing field. When I tour, I typically run much higher street pressures somewhere in the neighborhood of 36 to 40 in the rear (depending on MFG specs) and 34 to 42 in front also dependent on the tire manufacturer recommendations. I CARRY A PUMP and Tire Repair items with me, so I do Air Down if going to be off-road for any length and Air Up before long pavement stretches. If transitioning from road to off road a lot... I keep them aired down for maximum traction everywhere. This sacrifices tire life, but the safety is well worth it. That's my 2 cents... Thanks for watching! - Kyle

    I'm not that satisfied of my Trailmax mission tires on wet asphalt, the rear tire breaks out too fast when I give a bit too much throttle. This is really scary in corners if you don't expect it.
    I first also thought it was due to rain coming after a long period of dry (heat wave) weather, that the asphalt would contain oil or rubber, but no, even after having 5000km on the tires, the back tire keeps on spinning on wet asphalt, just like you showed in the video... and I don't even have 140 bhp on the super tenere...
    As I leave the traction control ON (standard setting), getting onto the highway and accelerating fast from 50km/h to 120 km/h, in every gear 2nd,3rd,4th and straight out, you see the traction control light getting on an off... so it is a very good tire on dry asphalt, mud, sand, forrest roads; but I lack total confidence on wet asfalt.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for your real world feedback. It is a harder rubber compound than most of the other 50/50 tires in the segment. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

      Since I ride a lot in the rain, I would love to know which one you would you say is better wet road between the Anakee Adventure and Mission? I saw your Anakee Adventure reviews mentioned the front wobble in sand which put me off compared to the Mission as it seems like it's more stable on the front. Did I understand that right? Finally, would you suggest a different rear tire to match the Mission that could last as long and perform the same but have better wet weather performance? I know I'm asking for a lot 😂

    Im looking for the ultimate 50/50. Has to be superb on wet pavement, but able to hold its own on the dirt and dry pavement twisties. Am I asking for too much:)?

      Oregon Motorcycle my current favorite is the Bridgestone AX41, but it wears out quick. The Dunlop TrailMax mission is second, but it’s wet weather wasn’t what the AX41 was. The Motoz RallZ was my favorite before these other two came around. Love that rear tire! But the front is rain-groove cement phobic... and can get scary.

    The ease in which you hit 150 causes a bit of jealousy within me - AT owner :D

      Jeremy Smith Ha! Ha! Have you seen my AT Review where I compare it to my 1190? Both are AMAZING bikes in their own rights, but the “hair on fire” nature of the KTM is downright addicting! I DO WISH my KTM was as trusty as your Honda though!! That’d be a Win / Win! Thanks for watching. - Kyle

      Yeah, me too Scott! Me too! Thanks for watching the attempt... I did learn more about the tires, and I like them even more than the 1st ride... just still skeptical of the 50/50 rating. That’s really what I want to get to the bottom of... - Kyle

      @@manybikes I would be happy with a 60-40 rating with that nice round profile for canyon riding.

      Well, after having been on this Mission tire for just over 1,000 miles now and in so many different terrains... it really does have on-road characteristics of a more street orientated 80/20 tire as it is quiet, super smooth and rails in the corners. Off-Road I find it to be a great 50/50 tire which has totally exceeded my expectations. Behind the 8 ball a little... Monday you should see my more all terrain encompassing video of this tire. Sorry for the wait and thank you for watching. - Kyle

      Well kind of... Many years ago! Alta California ('Upper California'), also known as Nueva California ('New California'), among other names[a], was a province of New Spain, formally established in 1804. Along with the Baja California peninsula, it had previously comprised the province of Las Californias, but was split off into a separate province in 1804 (named Nueva California).[1] Following the Mexican War of Independence, it became a territory of Mexico in April 1822[2] and was renamed Alta California in 1824. The claimed territory included all of the modern U.S. states of California, Nevada, and Utah, and parts of Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. In the 1836 Siete Leyes government reorganization, the two Californias were once again combined (as a single departamento). That change was undone in 1846, but rendered moot by the U.S. military occupation of California in the Mexican-American War.

    I noticed in the wet aproaching traffic parked at red lights there was some degree of confidence. Like, he didn't brake too gingerly so should suit me in Australia for 50/50. They seem very capable offroad: ruclips.net/video/CZ2Rt0C-dbc/видео.html

    The scary thing about wet roads is, when it breaks loose, you're likely gonna go down. That's why I ride like a complete wuss on wet roads.
