What is the monitoring software(menu bar) you're using for the temps and fan speeds? Thank you!

16 max has much more thermal headroom and better cooling. The 24 core 16 actually performs better than the 32 14 inch bc the 14 32 is clocked lower intentionally by Apple bc of heat.

i like the noise that it makes because its a white noise and u shouldve gotten a 16 inch one it would be much cooler

I also like the noise! To reduce thermals I will spin up the fans with TG Pro or Macs Fan Control on my new 14 inch Max.
I will also try the low power mode but I’ve read that ProMotion is disabled so I’m not optimistic about it. As another channel found, low power mode is excellent for everyday tasks with the M2 Air. Just switch out of it when necessary.
I need the smaller form factor for work-otherwise the 16 inch would be my choice.
One important caveat: you *must* keep your air clean to avoid clogging the cooling system over time. Will get this set up tomorrow or soon after.

So, I've been debating replacing my desktop pc with a MacBook pro. I will do some gaming, video and photo editing. I'm hoping getting the max l can get four years out of it. Has it run most games you throw at it? I'm only looking to play games that run on mac with no work arounds.

I am a windows user, and unfortunately, I found that the gaming experience on Mac is poor at best. A few games are supported, but not all games that support Mac even support M1. This is a very short list!
The games that it does run - it ran them decently, but underperformed in my opinion. Overall i can’t recommend gaming on the M1 MBPs.

@@BatteryTestChannel Hi, unfortunately, Mac's or not gaming machines.

Does the fan not exhibit a high pitched whistle (let a jet engine turbine noise)? It doesn't sound like it. I know that you said the sound is just a "whoosh" -- I just wanted to ask and clarify. Lots of these thin and lights on the market have a very high pitched fan noise which is a little harsh in my opinion.

The 16” MBP is definitely very much a low inaudible whoosh. The 14” makes a little more noise, but hardly that jet-like whistle from cheap laptops. I know exactly what you’re talking about, and this does NOT do it :)

@@BatteryTestChannel Thanks so much for your reply. I’ve been looking to upgrade from my mid-2010 MacBook Pro, and I apparently didn’t know how good I had it with the fan noise on this thing. It’s a very low to medium “whoosh.” I didn’t realize laptops had gotten so high pitched until I started shopping around. Even the very expensive ones! I’m thankful there’s at least one on the market that doesn’t have the whistle. Too bad it doesn’t run Windows! RIP Bootcamp

@@BatteryTestChannel One follow up question - if you know of any Windows laptops that don’t exhibit this issue (if they exist), would you comment back and let me know of one? Based on my experience the XPS 15 and Surface Laptop 4 15” both have the high pitched fan

@@seth4321 I can’t help you there unfortunately. I’m more of a custom desktop guy, and the MacBook is the first laptop I’ve actually (ever) purchased. The downside is the lack of compatibility and obviously - price. Sorry, but good luck with your search!

@@BatteryTestChannel Hey, no problem. I just appreciate you getting back. I may end up going the same route as you. I wanted one computer to rule them all, but maybe I’ll have to go for a desktop/MacBook duo. Thanks again 🤙🏻
