    Great job on this one, took delivery of mine 2 weeks ago and love it. You should do a demo of the HK audio system and sound settings. So far, it sounds good but looses some clarity IMO when you push the volume past 50%. I would have optioned the B&W system had it been available. Not going to mess with upgrading the system and there is not any thorough reviews for optimal settings of the HK that I can find for the new X5. Audio is always subjective to the listener and genre but I think many would find it helpful. Thanks again for this detailed demonstration!

      Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video, and congrats on your new X5! That's an interesting idea... I would have to do some research for that video as audio is a bit outside my area of expertise (I think the H/K system in it's factory configuration sounds awesome), but that's definitely a good idea! I do think many owners would appreciate that, thanks for the suggestion.

      How does the auto start stop engine feature work for you ? My understanding you can't disable it. That may be a deal breaker for me. I have on my Audi 5 and I have the option to turn off. Try turning down the bass on the audio if you crank the volume at high levels.

      @azrealestatesvc3774 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@bmwofmorristown9038 I agree that it sounds quite good, especially when just sitting in the garage tuning the EQ to taste. I personally have the logic seven at either the lowest setting or off. Driving at 50 miles an hour with road noise, I am thinking it might have something to do this how the system adjusts itself to compensate for that. It is very subjective, and you cannot load a good video/audio demo due to RUclips compression of the file. That said, it would be interesting for someone on the Bmw team to offer settings for various types of music as a general template. Have a great Father’s Day weekend! Thanks for replying back to me.

      @@ccfunkster you can by driving in the custom sport mode if you want the cushy ride but avoid that feature. I do that or simply just toggle the shifter when I come to a stop. Also, I believe it keeps running if outside temp is above 90. I will have to see if that’s adjustable. Perhaps BMW can chime in here. Hope that helps a bit. I traded a GC SRT and the X5 exceeds all expectations even with the turbo 6. Wife doesn’t miss the harsh ride or the rumble😆

    One thing I just found out is that you can save the passenger seat settings by using the #2 button on the driver's door. After the passenger gets their seat set, press the #2 button and then press the Seat setting save button, either 1 or 2.
    Also noticed that we lost the latch to release the rear seat backs. You used to be able to easily flip the lever on either side back in the very back of the cargo area if you wanted to put large items in the cargo area. Now you have to release them on the seat back.

Next: Heads up Display is my most valuable function and I've got it on Apple Car Play but using the microphone and holding it down doesn't get me to guidance. You're welcome, glad you enjoyed the video! Regarding your first question, that adjustment is a setting in iDrive now (assuming your car is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control). Go to menu, driving settings, driver assistance, driving, then adjust following distance from there. Regarding your second question, as long as you have Siri enabled on your phone, you should be able to hold down the button to access it and get directions via whatever iPhone app you like. If you just press and release the microphone button, you'll get BMW's personal assistant which can give you guidance via iDrive. Hope that helps!

    BMW should make seat controls like Merc. I don’t know bmw puts the control where they are awkward to reach.

    • @bmwofmorristown9038

      They're moving to the doors on some cars. iX and 7 series for example. They're easy enough to reach when on the side of the seat though, that's where seat controls on cars have been for decades.

      @@bmwofmorristown9038 it’s a sneaky way to save costs and make you go through a screen. An entry level camera makes you go through a menu to change settings. A pro level camera has fast access to soar settings with buttons. I know cameras aren’t cars, but the buttons were even highlighted on delivery. Hey client, you can program your TPMS or numerous areas of iDrive to be one button away.

      As a current BMW driver I have to agree! I’m in a 21 Ametrin Metallic x5 MSport and the options I have now you can only get in the new 24 Comp. ! It’s very sad that BMW choose to raise the price but at the same time provide less options for that raised price! Truthfully on Reddit most hate the new 24 x5 especially how boxy it looks and are comparing it to a Kia ! They also removed most of the front ambient lighting for just a 15 inch x x x x x 5 color strip! Also have to use the infotainment for climate which is just plan annoying! Looks like I’ll be staying in my 21 x5 !

      I don't agree that the LCI took the X5 in the wrong direction in any way, but if you do feel like those minor changes are downgrades, the vast improvements in other areas more should more than make up for it.

    Why does BMW insist on making the front ends ugly on their vehicles? First with the horrible oversized bucktooth grilles, now with squaring off the bottom of the front end, making look like a Mack dump truck? I used to really like the X5, but not anymore. 🤮

      Interesting you say that... the M3 and M4, and other recent models, have definitely gotten their fair share of criticism regarding their designs, specifically the front-ends. But the new X5 seems to be pretty universally liked. If you haven't seen one in person yet, I'd definitely give it a chance. As is always true, pictures don't do justice, and it looks really nice in the metal, in my opinion.

    Shopping and looking at these hard and wow as an engineer I’m at a loss for words on how I feel about all this gobbledygook. Not so much the screens but the screens and physical buttons they chose seem awkward. “well, we definitely want a mute and volume button but let’s make it really tiny. It’ll be the button they reach for the most so let’s make it really small.” And this turn signal let’s make it lightweight plastic so that it feels cheap in a $70,000 car. They went from something that exuded quality like a fine watch to what feels like massive cost savings. BMW engineers should have had to drive an old RDX and see what bad tech implementation is like for the driving experience. Bottom line I expect far better from BMW when it comes to the ultimate driving machine.

    • @bmwofmorristown9038
      @bmwofmorristown9038  5 месяцев назад +1

      Well, the volume knob is bigger now than it ever was in E or F chassis cars, at least from what I remember. And the turn signal feels fine to me :) That said, I understand many people's hesitance when it comes to adopting all this new tech. It's a big departure from what we're used to, but BMW has implemented it very well. Everything works reliably, it's easy to use, and despite what you said, the cars do feel very well-built. The G chassis BMWs *do* exude build quality. Sit in any new BMW and feel around the interior, press on both touch points and non-touch points and you'll see that everything feels extremely solid -- no creaks, squeaks, rattles or anything else. Sure, the sun visors are made out of a cheaper material than they used to be, but does that really matter when the car drives, works, and performs better than it ever has?
