      I’ve have seen four dermatologists and they said it was eczema. It’s not eczema, that much I
      know. I’ve been using Ketoderm 2% for 7 weeks now. Can’t put anything on my face without getting a big peeling. How long does this fungus take to go away? I’m beginning to think it something else, ya think? I am very frustrated.

    I feel like a lot of these issues are usually a result of a deeper issue, I hate how we only treat things topically and don’t find the root cause. Because if I understood what was causing the issue I would stop that behaviour or fix the issue and I then wouldn’t even need to use the topical interventions, which usually don’t work or stop working after a while because the underlying issue is still there causing the problem 😂

    OMG girl 😳😳 I've been dealing with this shit for YEARS and I never knew why. I guess I just thought it was weird dry skin. It gets pretty bad in my eyesbrows but i get it on my nose and ears too. In fact, there was one time it nearly got me in trouble. I've been in recovery since 2018 and on MMT/MAT and fortunately, I've worked my way up to only having to come in every 28 days to pick up my medication and do my drug screen as opposed to having to come daily and do weekly UAs. But about a year ago, i had to see the nurse practitioner for my yearly checkup and blood work before collecting my medication for the month. I did everything but when I went to the medication window, outta nowhere I was flagged for an observed drug screen and would have to come in daily until the results came back. I was so confused and upset since I live over an hour away but they wouldnt tell me what triggered it. I finally got it out of my counselor a few days later that the nurse practitioner had seen the flaky skin around my nose and decided I must've been snorting meth or something? Which was insane cuz my drug of choice was pain meds, not dope. Never tested positive for it or any other kinda of upper for that matter.
    I was FURIOUS and my counselor wasn't too pleased either cuz the NP lady hadn't bothered to speak to her before setting all that bullshit into motion. If she had, my counselor could've informed her that my skin has been like that for years and it was just flaky skin, not fucking meth residue. It was all cleared up within a few days and other than being pissed, I was okay since I had been stable for so long but the thought of them fucking with people like that really bothered me because playing games like that with someone that hasn't reached that level of stability could easily relapse because of it. It's a serious risk that can cost someone their lives.

    I have inflammatory autoimmune seb derm. I can't use any moisturizers or creams bc it traps the oil and feeds the critters. I am resistant to the topical azoles too. I found zinc pyrithione and sulfur helped, along with keeping the oil low at all costs on my face. Unfortunately this triggers rosacea like symptoms. Cutting oils out of my diet and skincare also seems to help. It feels like everything that restores the skin barrier is a cream or has herbs fragrance, so it's a balancing act.

    • @carolyntalbot947
      @carolyntalbot947 9 месяцев назад +4

      I am pasting my reply here to another commenter:
      Try a high-quality probiotic to treat your systemic yeast. Please, just try it! I have an autoimmune disorder and had the same problem with dandruff not knowing it was fungal. When my stress level was highest I even had painful thrush in my mouth.
      I drink kefir daily now (I don’t care for Kombucha) or yoghurt, and I used to periodically treat a a flare-up with a high dose of supplemental probiotics like Pearls. I would take 4x the recommended dose for healthy people. Not all probiotic supplements are created equal (the cheap ones don’t survive your stomach acids) so invest in one with an outer “shell.” If you want a list of brands I’ll be happy to share others that worked for me!
      Anyway, I no longer suffer with these infections and I rarely have to use even OTC anti-fungals unless I neglect to include probiotics in my diet. It has been life-changing! Read about how probiotics and your gut microbiome impact your immune system and even your mood, it’s fascinating!

    • @Sidera17
      @Sidera17 9 месяцев назад

      @@carolyntalbot947 Wow, thank you for sharing, and I am sorry you had to deal with the horrible yeast as well. I'd love to know the brands if you're allowed to post. I've tried some probiotics in the past, but because what I have also is classified as an immunodeficiency, I tend to become ill. I either get constipation severely or a full-body histamine reaction when even eating regular yogurt, and the probiotics trigger my interstitial cystitis. I have been using the "regular nature food store brands" that are OTC, so maybe a purer one or one for people with histamine disorders would work. When I could take probiotics, I remember I reacted less poorly to eating foods (no runny nose, no facial flushing).

    I was fighting this for the past few years getting progressively worse around my ears and eyebrows. Tried all sorts of different shampoos, oils, and moisturizers. I changed jobs and started drinking a large Smartwater exclusively every day. That was a big change for me since I had a tendency to go all day with just a small purfied water from the grocery store and never felt hydrated. also started using LaRoche Posay moisturizer when I hardly ever used moisturizer before. Those were the only changes to my routine and after a few weeks noticed it helped significantly, but it finally fully disappeared after using that Nizoral shampoo. My husband and I saw a TikTok about recommending it for dandruff and preventing hairloss from another dermatologist. I've only used it a few times but have had zero issues since! So happy I can wear dark colors again!

      As far as I know seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic condition that will never fully clear. The fungus mentioned in the video is found on most people's skin, but on people with this condition there's too much of it. Now there are theories that this is because of an autoimmune disease or issues with the skin barrier. So while she mentions that moisturizers will feed the fungus, it may also restore the skin barrier a bit.
      I found that pure Vaseline (petroleum jelly) put on after a shower (when your skin is losing most moisture) will maintain the moisture in the skin and prevent flaking, without adding too much for the fungus to eat

    ketoconazole only works temporarily, as with all topical treatments. This is an internal condition

    • @harrietxo2310
      @harrietxo2310 2 месяца назад

      So does dietary changes. Which is something a lot of people do, it’s also been studied which is why anecdotal evidence isn’t reliable as well as also misunderstanding a condition. It’s only temporary because if you stop using it or if you have a particularly bad flare, it sometimes doesn’t help. Fixing it internally also have those two variables but leaves an even more unrealistic approach as many cut our entire food groups or the majority, which isn’t sustainable especially for your health. Doing such can put your body in a form of stress and as it’s hormonal it can trigger the worsening of it every flare or extend the length of a bad flare up. Internally managing stress with meditation, exercise etc is good for health overall but there’s no way to completely control how your body/mind will react to any future situations. In said cases it’ll just reintroduce the flare ups (even if you’ve avoided having one for months) thus being a continuous cycle of dietary changes/restrictions, maintaining a habit of meditative practices + exercise routine to manage stress, trialling supplements meant to help and constantly spending money to find the next best thing to incorporate into said cycle. Even if you omit most of the tasks, focusing on one that you deem would work for said internal condition unfortunately can easily cause stress, physically or psychologically. There are bound to be days where you’d be sick or the condition flares when you least expect it, will leave you feeling defeated, stressed worrying if it means your current regime won’t work anymore. There is no cure for seborrheic dermatitis, you can only manage it, essentially putting it into ‘remission’. That could last years and years, while you could also have a small patch/lesion that you can’t see, that isn’t flaking and you haven’t noticed itching, it doesn’t mean you’re cured though just unable to see.

I would wash with Dove soap, then afterwards my skin felt dry so I would "de-bridge" with a wet washcloth to get the skin away. Next I use Gold Bond Ultimate hydrating lotion. Next day it looked the same.... and I'd do the same thing. 😢
    Finally, I saw this, and started using ketoconazole shampoo as a face wash. My skin vwould feel dry so I used hydrocortisone cream. After 2 weeks my face is 110% better! 😊 No skin flakes, no redness, no dryness. My skin has never looked this smooth. 😊

      Research Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).Dermatographism is linked to hyperactive immune system reactivity when mast cells in the skin degranulate and release histamine and other inflammatory markers that make us itch with hives, cause redness & swelling, runny nose, itchy eyes etc.

      @@DeepikaSharma-ug5vv Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. It can happen to someone after exposure to a pathogen or environmental toxins. They are still learning about it, but it causes mast cells to release extra histamine into the body like allergies or dermatographia, hives, etc. People can get really sensitive to triggers in food (histamine) and skin products. A lot of the triggers for rosacea overlap in my personal experience. They still don't know what causes it but allergist/immunologists or functional medicine doctors tend to know more. Usually they treat it with antihistamines.
