I have had that same Betty Crocker cookbook for 43 years.. I was gifted it as a wedding gift. It is held together with duck tape on the spine of the book. It is my favorite cookbook, obviously!🤗
My son went to culinary college. He said that each recipe in the Betty Crocker Cook Book is tested 5,000 times before it goes to print. Mine is glued together, too. It is my favorite!
You reminded me of some things I need: lemon juice, more vinegar, more Top Ramen, fresh yeast, and more flour. I buy mostly canned green beans and corn, but I also buy freeze dried onions, celery, and bell peppers and also use dried onions and garlic. I use self-rising flour for biscuits and use powdered milk and cut in butter. They are excellent, and I keep regular flour for Italian bread, which is very easy to make with just yeast, salt, and olive oil, which is the same recipe for round artisan bread. If sugar is added to this simple recipe and butter versus olive oil, you can make a nice loaf of french bread. However, I'm going to be making your recipe for Indian fry bread because a burner uses less energy than the oven, and my electric has doubled from last year, and I am a low income Social Security recipient so every penny counts. Rhoda, you were a blessing for me to find because people think I'm nuts for stockpiling food and supplies, which I have done for many years. I think some people can see the writing on the wall, and some refuse/don't have eyes to see. But having turned 70 this month, you feel like a friend, and I am so grateful for your channel.
Ps. Did you see that the dengue fever and boubonic plague are going around?
Your birds look so sweet ❤
It’s hot 🥵 here too. In the South there is a really good corn casserole we eat that would be good with your Oyster soup. It’s creamy and not dry. It’s:
1 can corn, drained
1 can cream of corn
1 box jiffy corn muffin mix
8 oz. Sour cream or 1 cup
3 Tbs. butter 🧈 to 1 stick
1 egg
It’s SO good Rhoda, the recipe varies in different cookbooks but make sure to use one can corn drained and one can creamed corn and dairy in it, sometimes I add a small can of diced jalapeno. It makes a huge 8x11 casserole. Bake at 350
Add some cheese to that baby, and it's even more tasty!...For a Mexican flair, you can also add a small 4oz. can of green Chiles!😋😋😋😋
@@Muzikgirl67 Yes, green chiles!
I would not jump on any band wagon of rumors of who VP is for Trump. But Biden has got to go
Trump, the felon and fascist has got to bow out
@@cyn2480 The majority of the people who follow this channel support Trump - because they hate the same people he hates.
We have enough food that I stored from listening to your videos for maybe a year now you have taught us all so much. Your baby's are adorable I'm also making beef stew I have the meat already cooked and its in my freezer right now cooking chicken drumsticks and I will peel the meat off for casseroles later on. Hope the grid doesn't go down cuz a lot of people will be hurting stay happy have been a great weekend .
Split peas are very good. I really like the 15 bean mix. I store in glass Mason jars.
That's right Rhoda, find ways to bring in some extra income. I think making sure you can cook from the basics is important too. You always have great tips on stretching that food supply! Meal prep is so helpful. Have a nice weekend
The birdies are beautiful!!
SHTF. We used that for sh** hits the fan.
Yep that is what it means. 😊
Love your shirt. My goal this weekend is get caught up on your videos. I am three behind. Hi to everyone.
I use my family members recipe cards. You could so do a recipe book for frugal times....eat like it is the end of the world ❤
Thank you for reminding me to check my grocery receipts.
Beautiful birds!!!
I have several old cook books, but I don't use them very often. I'm one of these, let's throw it together and see what we get. The easier to create, the better I like the recipe. Thank you for sharing and God bless.
❤
I remember how much I enjoyed Betty Crocker chili.
Those darling birds....
🐦 🦜 ❤❤❤ Rhoda Great ideas 💡 ❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊
I wonder if bacon Spam would be good in split pea soup? Thoughts?
I've tasted the "Hickory Smoke Spam", and I really didn't notice too much of a taste difference from the regular Spam...So I would go out on a limb and say to only use the spam if you want to have that taste in your split pea soup! Plus, it seems a bit soft to cook for a time in a soup, so it may turn to mush.😉
@Muzikgirl67 okay, good to know.
What if you just added some of it cubed at the end of the process or right before you ate it? I think that could work.
❤😊
