I started one of these for a customer. 84 528e. Sitting for 10 years. Fuel pump rotted out and bad gas. I was happy the tank had a drain plug. Tank was full. Lots of rubbers melted.
john jay hell yeah brother I bought a broken down 1979 e12 a couple months ago and put new wires, sparkplugs, distributor cap and rotor in it then just changed the fuel pump, and filters on it and replaced a few vacuum hoses and it fired right up! Does liqui moly synthoil work well for you? I used Mobil 1 but always looking for the best for my baby👌
When a diesel sounds like a petrol engine, than you have a great engine, but as soon a petrol engine sounds like a diesel, then you're in deep financial trouble.

these guys have no idea what they`re doing... look at the color of that fuel... it´s super old, it will not burn anymore... when a car has sat this long, you have to drain the tank an put new fuel in
The top end and cam shafts can definitely not have been in any good condition prior to parking it 9 years ago! Continue like this guys and the whole engine going to be ruined.

That's right rev the nuts out of the engine when it did eventually start which is the worst possible thing you can do to an engine when it has sat for 9 years or so & did you change the oil, spark plugs & fuel prior to attempting to start engine?! The knocking from inside engine did not sound good either & obviously there must be a blocked fuel injector or injectors as it sounds like it is not firing on all cylinders to be honest! Do you still have the car & have you restored it cosmetically & mechanically now please?
i think that old cars were real cars...you didn't have to go every year for service..just oil , nothing else.. nowdays, cars are made and they are programmed to brake down...
I have a peoguet 206 cc it's been stood 5 year been started a few times but now not starting what is the life for fuel.anyone it would help the key is reading pump priming so fuel next well spark aswell.
Good video, engine needs a few adjustments but should run fine after that. Petrol looks a bit old, or is that the normal petrol colour in your country, ours is pink.
Should have bridged fuel pump relay and exhausted all petrol on fuel tank. Also an oil change, and spark plug removal and crank the engine to build up some oil pressure. I´ve had bad experiences trying to start an engine with +10 year old petrol.
heh, we've e23 in restoration progress, so, we have the same problem. There're a lot of rust particles in fuel tanker, so some of fuel injectors was blocked by rust (((

The injection system is old and faulty. Must be cleaned properly. Also the fuel pump asembly must be changed, the fuel tank cleaned. The engine is good, no blue smoke.

It's a shame that BBS lip was in such bad condition. That's worth a lot of money, very rare.

fuel will last a few years.Five is pushing it ..drain the tank and put in a couple gallons of fresh stuff..I bet she will fire up

i used a hole can to keep a 4 banger going for less than 5 minutes you need way more than a couple sprays
