I'm Mikel, a 15 year old boy from the Basque Country, and I'm very proud of my country. I also thank you for giving me the opportunity of remembering my country's history. It's the first channel from youtube that introduces the Basque Country's beauty to the world and I'm very grateful. Thank you! Great videos and beautiful content! Zorionak!

Weirdly enough my hometown (Elko, Nevada) has a huge Basque connection. We have a Basque Festival every year and a few amazing Basque restaurants. It's random, but I do love hearing more about the Basque people's origins. I knew a lot of people in Elko with Basque ancestry.

Aupa Vagabrothers! I discovered your blog thanks to Txaro and the good ole Gobierno Vasco. Just like you guys, I am from California and I also spent time as an auxiliar de conversación. I recently returned to the U.S. after being there for almost two years without returning home... It is so crazy to believe I left on May 31st of this year, 2016... I made so many wonderful friends and I have so many beautiful memories that will stick with me forever. La oportunidad de vivir allí fue una experiencia inolvidable. I have yet to see the rest of the videos in this series, but it has been such a pleasure watching this first one. It is like taking me back in time and I am able to revisit the places that I have seen in person (i.e. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Gernika, Getaria, Donostia, Astigarraga, the area by the Salto del Nervión, etc.). I myself lived in Durango and Urkiola used to be my stomping grounds. Did you guys ever make it to Amboto? Hah, and pintxos saved me from hunger many a time. Anyway, thanks for giving me the chance to float away a little. I am now working full time and things are very different. Bueno... Eskerrik asko lagunak! I wish you well on your travels. Ondo pasa!

Eskerrik asko Vagabrothers! I left part of my heart in Euskal Herria when I first went there 5 years ago to visit our Basque families we got connected with hosting students through a summer English student exchange program (Summer in the USA). I had the privilege to dine in homes and sociedades surrounded by the amazing people, culture, and of course, FOOD (and cannot forget the superb wine and sagardoa! Txin txin!). Your videos make that heartache so real for me as you have done an excellent job capturing the heart and soul of this beautiful place and makes me long for the day I can return.

Yes, of course. The city was bombed from the air by the nazis under the orders of the dictator Franco as an experiment for World War too, bacaude of the symbollic relevance fot the Basque Country, and Picasso made the painting to remember that horrible episode that was known thanks to George Steer the correspondent of The Times in Bilbao during those times.

Yes it is. Bombed by nazis under the order of the dictator Franco. And today in Spain a "Foundation of Francisco Franco" (the dictator) survives and "it is legal". And it gets money from spanish government. Is that democracy?

I love the videos of the Basque Country. I only wish more Basque was spoken in the videos so people could get a really good idea of what the language sounds like and how different it is from any other language.

Hello!! I am Xabi, a proud Basque :), and I really love to study about our history. Sometimes it's difficult to find real information about us, since depending on the political interest of who wrote what you read, it usually is a lie.
I was expecting this to be just a video made by some turist who don't really know anything about us, and they were going to talk about us as if we were "average Spanish" (no offense, Spain is not bat, but we're different ;)), but turns out that this is one of the best videos about Basque people and Basque Country i've seen by far.
Congratulations vagbrothers, I'm very grateful that you share our little country all around the world. Eskerrik asko bihotzez! :)

Aupa lagunok! I did watch them, and I loved them as much as I loved this one! And I'll watch the videos you have which are not related to Basque Country also, of course!! :) Eskerrik asko for asnwering :)

They dig into the culture like no other tourist guide does. Rick Steves and Mark Wolters have nothing on them. I do appreciate Mark taking the time to do new videos covering the culture. Rick Steves only glosses over it.
