No you don't have to do that at all. Just attach the alligator clips to the battery terminals and it will start charging up.
You don't say anything about how to charge the thing how to connect the thing. Fairly useless video.

It’s junk for lithium battery for motorcycles
interesting... I use mine on my Honda Helix scooter, and with my camper van when its sitting in between trips. It has worked great for keeping these batteries topped off
