If you purchase this Lifesaver Jerry can. Make sure you keep two and a half gallons of water inside and lay it on its side(skinny side down), the pour spout facing down, when you store it. I contacted the company and they suggested that the filter medium needs to stay wet in order for it to be effective. I live in Hurricane alley(the Gulf Coast) and this is a no brainer for me. Once you spend one to two weeks without electricity due to hurricane damage. This jerry can will be invaluable.

Well it's a consideration. Seems a year or two back I saw a guy with a similar can but he rigged up metal fittings there at the spigot apparatus in place of the plastic ones. Nice review, I think it was a fair assessment 👍

Good review and yes thats a nice system. I have two separate Jerry cans (Wavian) and use a Berkey water filter system, and together they would be around $300.

we added a about a 4 inch food grade hose to the end of the outlet. it helps to direct the flow into a cup or other vessel.

A neat product for out west or a large family where water is very important. I'd still filter the water before filling the can though otherwise it could smell like a turtle tank, the stored water being full of bacteria.

I would consider buying the can without a filter for less money just for that protected nozzle/faucet design and the pressure pump. I am just not sure how practical it is to fill a container that size from small water sources and then lug it around.

Hey question, does the color a a water jerrycan make a difference for long term water storage? I keep in in a cool dark place with covers on it. Should i buy a white/transperant water jerrycan or a colored blue jerrycan? Since i dont want the color to leach into the water.

Wonderful video content on the filtration Life Saver Jerry can. Would you consider SHARING THE NAME AND MANUFACTURER OF THE SMALL HAND HELD WATER FILTER? Will be purchasing both, but the jerry can life saver first till can purchase handheld one later

It's a Katadyn Pocket Water Filter. Super heavy duty, will last a lifetime, but very expensive. Right around $400.

I use a Grayl . I have tried everything, the sawyer squeeze you name it. I have also spent hundreds of dollars on pieces of crap that break after a couple of uses. I find the Grayl to be superior above everything and it’s small, easy to use, and it purifies the water not just filters it. Check them out.

They need to improve that pump system, or make it so you can buy one without the pump and use an air compressor to pressurize it. We use a garden sprayer as a shower in the pressure from that is much stronger than what you demonstrated.

The kind of argument on the $300 jerrycan versus a separate $300 water filter may hold only if buying one can. If that $300 filter has been good for so many years, there might not be much rationale for spending the same amount when more than one can, thus a second filter, i.e., one filter should suffice for more than one can.
The water pump is a non-issue, in a way that it doesn't help much but won't hurt anything either, as mentioned in the review.

The American Flag is hanging backwards.
The field of blue with the stars should ALWAYS be in the top left, whether on a flagpole or hanging on a wall...TOP LEFT.
    Otherwise, great video.
    Thanks for your review.

Buy cheap, buy twice. And in the case of giardia... buy cheap, buy a whole lot more down time. The G is serious pain.

Too much for what you get. I'll stick with my waterport for half the price that makes proper pressure and can be pressurized manually or with a compressor.
