    alum is a hydrate salt of aluminnum. i know its used in making pickles... i wouldnt drink very much of it.

      True. It's used by water treatment plants also, another reason to get a good home filter.

      @@apexprepper7646 ya you can drink and eat out of aluminum vessels all day long and not absorb much at all into your body. most of the alcl3 in deodorant stays on the outside of the body, but dumping large amounts of easily ionizable aluminum into drinking water seems like a horrible idea. not a perfect comparison, but comparing the toxicity of mercury salts to mercury itself, the salts are like 10,000x more toxic and readily sublimate and get breathed in. same thing with lead, native lead is not that big of a deal, but ionized/salt form is big bad like in lead paint
