Not on the VNL I drove. You have to push the key further "in" to the ignition to trigger it to activate. It's not a feature on every truck, it's an optional extra typically found on Canadian Volvos. It's technically an intake heater, but glow plugs is just what everyone calls them.
Not in a Volvo truck, don’t know why though. They are not glow plugs though but rather a grid heater in the intake, big truck engines never have glow plugs, at least I don’t know a single one which has.
@@grumpystruckshop3807 Well here in the US, they're pretty good compared to Maxxforce. CAT dropped out of the game, Detroit Diesel isn't really doing much, and so the only other option is Cummins, Paccar, or Volvo. Cummins is usually more expensive, and so that leaves most fleet operators with Volvo or Paccar, which are not a whole lot different when it comes to reliability.

Lol I’ve been wrenching on these engines for 11yrs and was confused when you said glow plugs. These engines don’t have glow plugs, you’re referring to the intake air inlet heater.
@@s302jzget you obviously dont know what a venturi is, for your information its the air inlet to the inlet manifold, by the way D13 engines are crap with their pressed on cam lobes and leaking injector sleeves, aswell as solenoid controlled piston cooling nozzles that quit and sieze the engine, to mention but a few items, from the uk!!!
@@grumpystruckshop3807 😆 I think you're confused? I'm a factory trained master technician for volvo/mack. But yea I think youre right. Air inlet heater, not glow plugs*
Glow plugs always activate themselves when turning the ignition on, as shown by that small spiral symbol in the lower left corner of your dash.

@Augustus Zain Try FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
@Jordan Orion Yea, I've been using FlixZone for months myself =)
@Jordan Orion thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
