Time for a new test. Scania 770 S vs Volvo 750 ;)
but the 730 was faster, so no need. is it the same engine in the 770 as the 730?
@@supertreme5559 basically same engine but different tuning so it produces more power. 770hp to be exact
@@supertreme5559 There is a test between the 730 and 770 on "Scania trucks and buses" Yt channel. 770 was faster but also used less fuel.

Both of the trucks are great, I built this timber trains, even bigger as 60 ton gross weight, super high end trucks. But personaly I like the sound of the Scania V* engine more.
Yeah that V8 sound is awesome !

Those two are the kings! No matter if it's a whisper or a roar. Swedes should be proud. A Scania loaded to the limit going uphill puts a smile on my face. I guess it's a matter of taste. I used to drive a 142t and a F12. I liked them both but the v8 sound...
Impressive!
The strongest truck head in the world all manufactured by Scandinavian manufacture (Sweden).
Just like the old Viking, strong and brute raw power 💪
These trucks were designed by great Swedish engineering and top technicians. I'm fairly certain none of those engineers looked anything like a viking of the past. Neither did they have a viking as the template for designing them. These great designers and engineers used their great know-how, experience, clever thinking and innovation to design a top product - in this case a truck. Men like Alfred Nobel, Sven Gustaf Wingqvist, Fredrik Ljungström, Gustaf Dalén , Gustav de Laval, John Ericsson, Åke Senning etc etc made Sweden punch way above its weight class with inventions which still are used worldwide today. Their inventions and engineering made the country prosperous. In the industrial age innovation, quality and technical integrity sells products. Skinning the customer for the largest possible profit does not (certain countries do seem to have adapted that model).
Btw, designing a powerful truck is fairly easy. The real trick is to make it fuel-efficient, practical (it's designed to pull heavy loads not win races) and reliable. That last part is especially important for trucking companies. Depending on the market trucks live hard lives and need to minimize the time for service and repairs.
Speaking of the vikings. Their real strength lied in their longships. Without them they wouldn't have been able to achieve much. Why? Well, for starters the longships had flat bottoms which meant that the vikings could sail really close to the beach and therefore attack places nobody believed could be attacked from the sea. In fact their name "viking" is derived from the norse word for bay (vik).
They didn't call themselves vikings and fact is the people they faced had different names for them. The Germans called them Ascomanni (ashmen), Dubgail and Finngail by the Irish, Locklannaich by the Gaels, Dene (comes from "Dane") by the Anglo-saxons, Northmonn by Frisians and Varangians by Slavs and Byzantines. Viking was a title or "trade" for those who did it and the majority of the Scandinavians who stayed home and tended the land, kept livestock and crafted tools weren't vikings in other words.
As for the viking longships. Flat bottoms means they were fast too meaning that viking usually approached so fast very few saw them coming and could warn their villages or small towns they were under attack. Almost all European ships at this time had to make harbor at a port in order to land men and equipment. The Vikings simply exploited the hole of undefended coasts nobody would think of attacking from. In the case European warlords wanted to attack coasts their large ships had to stay far from the beaches and their men board smaller landing ships. All this took time and the element of surprise and speed was gone. The vikings simply landed fast with their longships and made shore in no time.
Back in the time of manual message delivering it could take a full day before the local king or "vassal" heard his domain had been attacked by vikings and another day to take his troops to the raided town. By that time the vikings had usually left already and moved on to the next target or went back home.
Where the vikings couldn't raid - i.e. places where the resistance was too strong with castles, keeps and walled cities - they settled on trade. This too was greatly helped by their longships. Why? Well, these longships could be used to travel on the European rivers as well. In fact the vikings even carried their longships on land to get from one river to another. While other ship traders had to sail all around Europe to get to for instance Constantinople (some vikings became soldiers in the Byzantine army) the vikings simply bypassed all that by sailing on rivers. Until they invented railroads the rivers were the by far best way to carry lots of goods to trade.
Last of all their longships were double-ended meaning that they could turn back real fast and row/sail the opposite direction of the situation became difficult.
So maybe these trucks are more akin to modern day "longships" rather than the vikings themselves. Fast and can go anywhere. Great for transporting goods long distances.
i agree,, nobody can match this to brands,,,, volvo and scania..
7:25 is absolutely the opening to a mission I'm guessing it's "catch the truck"
That scania V8 Lord!!listen to her ..Volvo will never spec a v8 again

America is full of these Trucks now especially the Volvos.....since the American Truckers started using European Trucks we are now making good money for the first time....smoke emissions ZERO.
I have never seen a Scania here !
I am glad to hear that !!!!
Never seen any European truck in America... If you mean Volvo VNL it's a European brand but made in America. Plus while there's Pete, KW, International etc Volvos are not so economic (expensive parts and maintenance costs)... Cabovers ended in America since 80s since they are not comfortable in american roads. I don't know what America you're talking about... What I say is for north America (Canada, USA and Mexico)...
But they do use European buses like Scania, Volvo etc...
You are a liar ! Name one !
you mean USA and I know what you mean but is south America they do have scania here in the states we don't have trucks scania only small cars but here the trucks use straight six engines small trucks use V8 some
the scania started the test in motion the volvo had to start stopped. the space between them should be at least five minute because the air for those who go ahead is much colder and consequently generates more power, another point and the weight (we do not know if and exactly the same, because in these circumstances 500 kg makes a lot of difference ) and the shape of the load on top of the carts very different from each other, but still parabens the scania, despite knowing that the Volvo is the best in the world.

Both trucks performed quite even. 5 seconds for trucks is not a big difference. I am Scania fan but I have to admit that Volvo is also amazing truck
It was 9 seconds which is quite a lot in this scenario
@@karlmartin7384 Learn some math please. It's 5,3 sec diff. After 30 years on both of them, they are almost brake even. Sometimes it's all by the driver.
If you watch closely at the beginning the Scania drives away from the intersection while the Volvo driver was stopped by a pedestrian ! That gave a small lead to Scania but if you consider the parameters A ) the Volvo carried more load , it's trailers were filled to the brim , while Scania's trailers were not filled up totally and B ) Volvo closed the gap from around 20 + seconds to just 5 seconds at the checkpoint you have yourself a winner !!!!
@ehsan abdi it's not about horsepower, but newton meters of torque.

Dois monstros das estradas!!
Cool comparison! But i would be gratefull to drive either of those! Very good trucks
Now they should check out how much diesel each one spent along the uphill and then we’ll see the real winner. Even though the Scania advantage doesn’t seem too relevant, it’s 5 seconds after 383 seconds of climb, which is about only 1.3% faster.
they should be similar, they are both running in power-mode, most likely, Only the Volvo driver checked the fuel consumption (48.9L/Mile at half way) Both Scania and Volvo have low consumption
We did a test a few years ago now at work... Kenworth with 600hp Cummins, 700hp Volvo and 650hp Scania.... it was a 330km loop, loaded to 58t gross... the Kenworth was worst on fuel, Volvo 30lt better and Scania 50lt better than the Volvo...
5.3 secs is not worth measuring, both trucks are incredible!

5 seconds difference out of 6:23 is round 1%. Weight, vehicle, tyre or driver difference is likely contributing to a higher difference
Peter Romberg Yes but the Volvo has an extra 20HP so even if it had some more weight which it probably doesn’t it still should of won...
are both trucks spec the same way aka rear ends and gearing ? cause that plays a factor too . also the v8 versous the straight 6 has a different power ban . there is alot of factors in place before we say this is better than the other .
@@rafailproios4539 No. Those extra 20hp doesn't mean anything in a hill climb. It's the transmission that has to be optimized for it. Compare the Scania in the video vs a Volvo FH750 excavation truck and the excavation truck's transmission has a larger gearing which makes it run on higher rpm.
The scania pulls 62 ton and the volvo pulls 60 ton.
@@stiigern You do you. Both are 60 tons but are made for 64 tons (at least on Swedish roads). But this is in Norway so I don't really know since that road train combination is quite unique in Norway but most common in Sweden and Finland where they're allowed to weigh 64+ tons.
I wonder what the difference had been if one of the Trucks had 200hp less...........like a 530 hp, but with the right gearbox and ratio for heavy haulage vs the Scania with 730hp......

So it's basically even. The questions *everybody should be asking* however is:
1) How much fuel was used for each truck? Fuel efficiency is very important for trucking companies.
2) How reliable is each truck? How long will it last before something breaks on either truck?
When you've add the most fuel-efficient and reliable truck as a factor you'll get a more telling picture of this race.
They are both Swedish trucks, same level of engineering. Meaning they are very reliable, and probably low fuel consumption.

Stange that a straight 6 is about the same as a v8 this is why volvo stuck with a straight 6 while scania went all in with v8 to get more performance but you cant go wrong with either of the two the only issue is the scania is expensive to be repaired because of all the sensors compared to the volvo so take care of that v8 when you get it.

No comments but SCANIA still a N1 truck in Europe!! But only the SIZU with a CAT engine C18 it's more powerful because the C18 is a amazing strong engine 👏
Ps nice filming great video
They should have both started at the same time... To be a proper test... The volvo stopped at the start talking to some guy.
Good test. It would be good to swap trailers (different rolling resistances) and do it again with Volvo in front. Sometimes its easier chasing than looking in the mirror.
Yeah but this is just for fun, nothing they would spend any more time and money doing. In the end these trucks are as good as equal when it comes to performance.
It doesn't really matter if the Volvo stopped or not. Both trucks will settle in at their peak power no matter what, the gradient dictates speed and the engine torque dictate if they make it all the way.
Fuel consumption? That is the the important question if you are the one paying for fuel.
they both had stop start. only the volvo driver checked his fuel consumption at half way 48.9L/mile... most likely in power mode. But Scania V8's are really good at those hard pulls
Yeah, pretty much what you'd expect though. 20 bhp makes all the world 🌎 of difference.
And on the top of the hill they could have met Nicolas Gagnon or Sylvain Noel in their peterbilt and Kenworth who would have got up in half the time whit even 70 tons but probably had to do an engine rebuilt after that, not mention the visibility problems these ordinary guys would have on their way up du to thick black smoke.

I assume the Scania started from a standstill too. It was very slow in the very beginning of the video and I don't think this would be overlooked in a fair race.
Vu de loin on dirait que le Volvo est plus chargé en volume, du coup est ce que les charges étaient identiques pour les deux ensembles ? Dans les deux cas ces deux camions sont magnifiques 👍
From 8:20: the Volvo seems to be heavier...
Both trucks are loaded to their limits, give or take a couple of 200kgs. Some logs are more wet and heavy, others dryer and lighter. Belive me, it VERY quickly costs THOUSANDS of USD in fines if a truck gets stopped in Norway with overload of some hundreds kgs and more

I would like to use my 450hp for it, so i could longer enjoy this beautiful landscape 😉😍
It's wrong to compare Scania, which goes up the hill with Volvo, which stops and starts, not stops, but stops and stops and then goes up again
It would have been better if they had done two run with the drivers swapping trucks. That would have given a fairer result.
yeah right .. It is kinda unfair though, since the Scania has burnt all the oxygen in front of that volvo.
SCANIA R730 V8 IS BEST TRUCK ON THE WORLD !!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Both trucks show great result!
I look very closely at this video and even if the editor claims that Scania had a stand still start doesn't look like. It was a flying start for me. Volvo have more power 750vs730 and more torque 3550vs3500 and the best gearbox in the world. It is hard to believe that both trucks were at the same load. They are loaded with logs. I dont think that somebody choose and weight every log to make the loads even. And the last point is that probably Scania is brand new or the newest truck anyway. Volvo probably has a few miles on the clock. We need to take in to consideration the wear as well.
A small difference in power on paper, but in reality as good as zero difference. Many other things weigh in like new vs older engine, adjustment of engine, degree of service, tire pressure, type of transmission, the driver and so on. And total weight naturally. Hey, this is not high science, there are some +/- here and there. All in all just confirm that the power of the trucks is as good as equal.
