I always see the "This time i have 12 shots." line as a meta gag to the first MGS where Ocelot was the first boss too but only had one Revolver even though it takes place after 3. Obviously this is not how it's supposed to be taken but it gives the line an additional layer of "wink wink" which is kinda funny imo.
Well he lost one of his revolvers when the Shagohod got destroyed, and I think (canonically) gave one of his to Big Boss after fighting him on the escape plane; so he probably got used to just 1 Revolver, and just 6 shots. Also, sorry for replying to a 3 year old comment :(
I'm pretty sure it was an intentional nod to MGS1 on top of being a response to Snake and Ocelot's last encounter. The MGS series never referenced itself unintentionally.
He seems to be slightly cockier in Shadow Moses. Because in Snake Eater, he's like: "You're pretty good" to Big Boss/Naked Snake. And then Solid Snake, he's like "you're pretty good, but I'm just getting warmed up!"
I really liked seeing Ocelot here, young and impressionable. If things would have gone differently, maybe he wouldn't have grown into the accessory for the game's main antagonist.

Tbh it my favorite boss fight off the game alongside the boss's fight it literally a full on show off boss fight and it very cool add on that the masterpiece that is the music it gets the feels going
There's a reason why in George Salonikh's MGS3 Compact video, during the cutscene when Volgin says "There's a spy among us!" it flashes rapidly between Snake, Ocelot, Eva and The Boss while Snake laughs because literally every single person in that cutscene aside from Volgin is a spy. Snake's just the only overt one. It's comical how much of an idiot Volgin is.
