Lake Placid is not a “Kid’s Town.” It is a Retirement Town for Thousands.. Kids are born here but don’t live here afterwards.. It is a Retirement Town - Small, Gorgeous, Quiet and PERFECT for Retired People..

I grew-up in a very small town in Northern NY. It offered nothing but the playground at the school and a river that ran thru the town. I paid $5 for a used bicycle that took me everywhere - to my friends and to the fishin hole. We used drop lines (just a length of twine with a hook & sinker.) I caught tons of bullheads, cleaned them and my family ate them at least twice a week. They were sooooo good.. My Mom was a housewife and always there when we needed her. Our meals were always on time and our bed time was always 9:30 - no exceptions. All of us kids met at the playground and formed games. Smoking and drugs were never part of it.. The kids did odd jobs for people to earn money. Have you ever noticed - Migrants do all the work because school kids DON’T WANT TO WORK? I blame the parents because they have forfeited their authority… What a shame..
Are there a lot of Salvadorans in Florida? Just wondering as here in Corpus Christi I'm pretty sure I'd have to drive up to Houston to find some Salvadoran food. I'm no expert on Salvadoran food but there was a small Salvadoran restaurant about two blocks from my house when I lived in New Orleans and for a while we'd get food from there at least once every couple of weeks.
New Orleans biggest Salvadorean Comminuty in USA outside of DC. Florida has some salvadoreans in Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers, Labelle, Tampa, Bradenton. Orlando I would guess too. SWFL probally where you find the most Salvadoreans in Florida.

Their husbands had worked construction and they had saved enough for their wives, 3 of them, to open a breakfast/lunch counter type of restaurant that really took off especially with the college folks. They were good folks who knew how to run a business, and if I could figure out what they did to make those black beans so good?? Watch out Cuba!!
Always loved see lizards by brother's old house in the Tampa area. We have Italian Wall Lizards by me now. Some pet shop released a load of them on the railroad tracks I heard, now they are flourishing. IMO replacing the Fowlers toads that disappeared long ago. I have a bunch that sit on my back steps, set up rocks and such for them to chill.

There isn’t a poor economy. The town is minimal in size with plenty of small businesses that excel. I know plenty of people that have started businesses with no problem. The limit would be on big box stores. It’s an agricultural area with agricultural jobs.

In Minnesota we had a Native American on our state flag, which was there to honor the strength and contributions of Native Americans in Minnesota. However, it was recently deemed racist and we changed our state flag to be two-tone blue with a star in the middle. IMHO removing the Native American was a low blow but to the ultra white and ultra woke college kids this somehow makes sense. The state level politicians who kiss their azzes get it done for them so that they can appear trendy and get that coveted "nobody is farther to the left than me" vote. The irony here is, the South may be the last place where those contributions are honored in the public squares, with the woke northerners wanting to remove every face and statue even when those statues only give honor. None of them will catch the irony that the South is the last remaining place that is actually anti-racist and are fighting to keep it that way. Lake Placid, we all feel your pain. The people who see racism in everything, and then in affect become racist, just can't be reasoned with.
