I have to say, I give my mother a lot of credit for not raising three non lazy, drug addicted kids.
I'd view the premise of being poor and the impacts that are experienced as a result being a situation where people's individual experiences are entirely relative to their mindset/attitudes etc. A low income person/family are definitely capable of acknowledging the realities of their circumstances without relinquishing control of their personal values and morals or their desire and motivation to elevate themselves along with their standards of living and quality of life for instance. The problem rests with a person becoming complacent with and accepting of their circumstances. Nothing will ever change under those conditions when someone claims to be a victim of their circumstances and if they're given a choice they'd actually choose a different existence but yet they're unwilling to become involved with the process of positive change in their life.
This is sad to see across the nation, but thank you for showcasing this video. Everybody has their problems regardless of color. But to ignore it and say it doesn't happen to "us" is just plain ignorance and then you are part of the problem.
The poor people in many areas are very similar despite their color. They tend to blame others for the way their lives turned out and take no responsibility for their situation.
Some blame is legit. Personally I didnt even have underwear. And homeless. As a teen no jobs for us. I left racist texas to calif. That was 50 yrs ago. Well off and retired now.

I live in Fresno California. We have the highest per capita of homelessness in the United States. Since we have mostly a service community, and the rent extremely high, I can see why there is so many homeless people here. I'm 70, disabled and on SSA. I'd love to be able to leave.

@@paulbrower than we're not saying much. New Mexico is practically empty. Alabama is a state I've never been to, but I'd hope they had more reasonably priced housing than Fresno. We had a very rough time finding another apartment due to credit checks and high rent, after a private equity firm bought out the last apartment complex I lived in, and they kicked everyone out of there. I had lived there for over 13 years, and didn't pay late or not follow their rules. I'll be so glad to leave this area for good. I hate crowded towns, I grew up in the country.

The culture in Appalachia is like it is for tragic historical reasons going back to the civil war and earlier and all the way back to the UK. The region has a long history of explotation by outsiders and outright violence against those who tried to make things better. The culture comes from learning to be dejected and give up to protect oneself and it became ingrained over generations.
Also some of this is not the truth but simply Jose's prejudice. He is definitely right about his last point about not getting the media attention however. Most white poverty in the US is not rural. Also a lot of these sort of places DO have high rates of property and even violent crime but others don't. Most of these people if of working age also do work at least part time, with those who don't a large minority but even most of them do have a work history. These places are the exception in their regions and the negative here is partly true but also exaggerated. Negative descriptions of urban poor black communities while partly accurate tend to be greatly exaggerated as well. The mostly white and working class parts of the US have a lot more vibrant and well functioning blue collar comunities then places like this, although both are still common.
No it isn't; the vast majority, billions of us are doing OK or better, and many are doing great. If you're not, then reassess your life and get busy fixing it. Ask for help if/when you need it!
I had no choice of growing up on Southside of Chicago. Was homeless at 15 n was a MVP in basketball for 3yrs. Gave it all up n went as far as I could till I hit Coos Bay.
I grew up south side of Chicago. Beverly, South shore Chatham. Even Roseland has great areas. Hyde Park? These are black areas. Where are you talking about. South side is huge.
Agreed 💯 Same here and both can teach a lot of various, interesting, valuable and sadly disheartening lessons. When I experienced people treating me differently after learning I had what I have in my pursuit of property, that was difficult for me. I had a hard time with that and still do. They only see the money, stark contrast to when they assumed I was poor and nobody to bother with. I also experienced quite a prejudice when I didn't have a male business investor versus when I did. When he wasn't involved, even fellow professional women didn't return my calls nor give me a second of their precious time. Without a man involved, I was not worth their time. Extraordinarily hurtful and disgusting, interesting how little people ever change! Those are just a couple examples that affected me a lot, but I've definitely learned so much and unfortunately much of it is very sad lessons, hardening, they have made me more hopeless in people and unfortunately bitter, I'm a worse person now. I believe that's the devil's plan, bring us down. Demote us to dollar signs and nothing more.
Americans always loved drugs but, a lot of these cities and states are still recovering from the crack era. One of the worst times in American history, even more than the heroin epidemic.
The outsourceing of textiles in the south, manufacturing in the north and more mechanization and corporate farming throughout the Midwest, NADTA and GAFT were very bad policies, it outsourced millions of jobs, kept wages low etc,...
This guy is speaking that facts! I was homeless once, I was lucky in that a had a car I could sleep in. But I got off street and have a job and my own place, it took time and alot of hard work, washing dishes, shoveling snow, working in the heat on weekends, overnights, donating blood plasma. I would come home some days delirious tired because I'd have day job then work overnight as night watchmen. When I stopped blaming others for problems and got sober, stopped wasting my time on social media my life started getting better.
Dude you had a car. That’s a luxury! And nobody robbed you. This is America though why are people homeless having to donate plasma and work tired, do people do good decent work when they are tired? No, they do sloppy work. Funny how nobody blames the people who work in agencies meant to lift people out of poverty. Blaming the poor is nonsense, and having a car made you rich.
In fairness, the criminal record comes after you finally realize you have some self-erected stumbling blocks like not finishing school, not being able to get a job because you didn't finish school,doing/selling drugs, having kids out of wedlock, and more. So it's not quite that easy. You forgot laziness though.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I'm a nurse who ended up with a "record" because I was summoned to court for something and never notified. I think you better reevaluate yourself!!! Plenty of very good people end up with unjustly disservice having done nothing wrong or minor infractions in many cases. The majority are not sex offenders or violent murderers. We are actually the highest contributers in every sense. An a crime in the past at ones worst, should never destroy an entire life. That person can still bring a lot to society and being prevented from working legitimately will only lead to worse for society, repeated crime/career criminal. That benefits no one!!! Your past should be your past. Not your forever identity. Your view is actually a lot more harmful and a detriment to society than promoting work!!! You seem to praise immigrant communities as you say in your video, yet you don't believe someone with a record should ever work!? What should they do then, sit around? Off my taxes? Off yours? Go sell drugs? An for your information, immigrant families definitely do their share of crooked antics, they came to a country that was already lined up & ripe for the taking! I was able to have my situation fixed, no problem as far as my "record" goes, but I think you got a hell of nerve and are awfully ignorant. Next you're going to say someone with fraudulent charges to their credit card is their own fault for having that credit card. Simple is as simple does!
I am an educated professional nurse. I ended up with a "record" merely for not receiving a letter or notice to appear in court. Had I received it, I certainly would have been there. I managed to get it corrected but it certainly taught me quite a brutal lesson in the prejudice and hatred towards those with one, and the deplorable ignorance this man displays in his reply to your valid comment. Preventing people from working benefits no one. Most records are not infractions that should define your entire life existence. Yet he praises immigrants and claims they are such hard workers, when they are just as crooked often as the ones with records or even more so!!!

What I have observed both in person and from watching many videos is that when a community *_has lost all hope in the present and future,_* (and that can be a generational sentiment), the communities start to look like those shown in this video. What is very interesting, is that during work travels to India, Mexico and Morocco, I have had the opportunity to visit some of the poorest areas imaginable. This was an eye opener, thank you for it, even though it makes me even more worried for our country as a whole. I believe drastic changes are ahead because so much is out of balance and at extremes, it can't remain like this or continue to spiral without consequences that will bring a reset to push the pendulum towards the middle (balance). It will, I fear be very painful. We have seen it happen throughout History, Empires fall, people erased, constant new beginnings, balanced gained. Is it our turn?
OP made it clear he doesn't care about some poor people, only certain groups. And he says he's happy if my comment to that effect is made invisible as long as he's making money. That's his opinion and he's entitled to it. As for me I'm glad I don't depend on YT for my income! They don't play fair. They will cut his views and his money the moment his message goes out of line with the management. He can open eyes.... but only if they like what he's showing. Sorry to rant, but I've been on YT at least 15 years. I've never seen things this bad and they're getting worse all the time. :(
The trouble with the "swinging pendulum" of politics is the failure to recognize that the most powerful civilian force in the U.S. is the Far Right, and as a corollary to that, there is no real opposition to it. What is considered "left" are a handful of politicians who would be considered mainstream 50 yrs ago. Joe Biden is a corporate centrist as is Hillary. Both of them and the creaky remains of the Democratic Nat'l Committee are actively hostile to anyone which challenges corporate authority (which owns the GOP). And Obama said in an interview that if he had run for office in the latter 80s he would be considered a Republican. In short, there is little on the other end of the "swing" to swing back to. To carry the pendulum metaphor further, there thereby to "center" to be had. The OP has helped to promote a discussion pointedly ignored by legacy media, but his views on lazy drug-addled whites are little more constructive than the drive-by gangsta view of the black inner city.
These places have always been here this is nothing new..before the drugs it was the liquor...but the media always finds it way to the inner cities to point the finger and say look at THISE people...

My stepsister had her door kicked down and was raped in her bed. My parents had a brick smashed in their window at a stoplight. I've been chased. I used to live in Florida as a teenager for a few years back in the mid '70s....most small towns were " Old Florida" and pretty decent places. There were crappy places, but it was rare.
The family unit was MUCH stronger in the mid-70's. Most women were housewives and having babies out of wedlock was frowned upon as were drugs. Families were much more cohesive. When they started knocking down the projects like Iroquois, clarksdale, park duvalle, and so on.. it destroyed Louisville. Those projects contained all the crime in one place now its spread out evenly across the entire city. Cincinnati also has other white hoods like Lower Price Hill, Norwood, & Westwood bearing resemblances to neighborhoods on this list.
I was impressed by your choice of Springfield, MO. Most people aren't aware of what a mess it has become. I lived there for a year in the mid 1980s while I was going to college. The north and west sides of town were places that most people didn't want to be even then. I knew somebody who worked at a liquor store. One night a guy tried to rob him with a pair of scissors as a weapon. So he pulled out a baseball bat from behind the counter and smashed his hand. The guy ran out and was not heard from again. It's that kind of crime. Stupid people who used to live in small Ozarks towns and moved to Springfield because everybody in the small town knew about their bad behavior. At some point rural southern Missouri became the methamphetamine manufacturing capital, and things just got worse and worse. The south side and east side and areas around Missouri State Univ. are safe and mostly filled with nice family homes though.

You should mention State Park Place Illinois, just east of St. Louis near hwy 70.. It sounds fancy, doesnt it? That place is the worst, but it is small, so you do not hear about it much. Also Granite City has hit near bottom.
Most people of working age in rural Appalachia also DO work by necessity even if the employment rate is low compared to elsewhere & addiction and welfare use is relitively high. Most people there are not impoverished and there are jobs (often low paying, a lot of the poverty is *working poverty)* despite all the problems.

The truth hurts and people dont want to hear that! Im glad you spoke up and tell it like it is!
Who said they didn't want to hear it? I am confused.

Wow ... I had been rich, I had been poor ... and I learned from both.
Well said..

Exactly
Ignorance and depression are not signs of laziness but they can present the same symptoms
In many places having a criminal record is still a big stumbling block to finding a job.
As it should be.. you want a pedo working at a school or a robber at a bank?????
And that's sad, considering not everyone with a criminal record is actually guilty of the crime. Ijs.
I managed to get it corrected but it certainly taught me quite a brutal lesson in the prejudice and hatred towards those with one, and the deplorable ignorance this man displays in his reply to your valid comment. Preventing people from working benefits no one. Most records are not infractions that should define your entire life existence.

Yep you need to do more on these poor white communities cuz it seems like the media loves to talk about poor black communities but they're not out there talking about these poor white communities that go and vote for people who don't care about them but yet they want to vote against their best interests just so nobody of A different race can get the same benefits as they can
Lexington, NC?
😅😅😅
The breakdown of the family unit has destroyed America. Kids need a Mother and Father.
Simple equation!
I just recently moved to Springfield for my job and I literally clicked on this video saying that I know it has to be on this. It is something out of the walking dead here.
I was born there in 1960. It used to be beautiful and kind of upscale. Now I'm just ashamed.
@@applicationuser9764 yeah it still has very nice sections of town. I live in a brand new subdivision by Rutledge Farm so I’m far away from the bad areas. But still once you get closer to downtown it’s heartbreaking!
This shit funny 😂😂😂😂
Interesting commentary.
I don't understand why people choose to be addicted to drugs and all they do is try and maintain that high. They will steal, beg, do almost anything just to have just enough money to buy drugs with. Drugs are overtaking our communities and it's not going away. People need to be more disciplined and try and take on life's challenges. You have to TRY!
On drugs now due to medical issues. I hate it. Not sure how someone can enjoy this. It makes you feel like every thing is right when your life is crumbling very dangerous mindset when your not in good shape. Horrible crap. Side effects are bad too.
Just curious if that's in any type of order?
Kinda
Turn off Fox News!…..Nailed it! Lol! Dude is funny, but really accurate!
Interesting and enlightening video
I just discovered your "top" shows. Enjoyed all so far. But I had to stop and comment about something you said in this one. I am so very impressed to hear you say that even though you came from a poorer community and no hs diploma you made a good living. I'm a native New Yorker. My family came from Queens. I spent most of my life on Long Island. We had our bad areas and unfortunately bc of drugs, MS13 and other gangs there are more depressed areas. Nothing like in these videos for the most part. NYC that's always been a problem. Like you said these ppl who don't have jobs and work the system are the 1st ones complaining on the news. They don't want to work. They're lazy. Ppl in and around NYC and LI want out but
Don't want to put any effort into coming up with ways, make a plan to do
Better. I Nearly choked on my coffee when I heard you say that. I wish I heard it more. It's possible to do. At the same time I do realize that ppl in poor communities are depressed, have no mentors, noone to support & encourage them. Not without bumps. There are a lot of smart talented kids out there and it's sad they'll never get to grow it. I'm so glad that you shared that. You seem grateful that you were able to dig out. Maybe you
Have someone in your family or someone you know that you could encourage. Share some of your life and how you are doing well. Even doing
Motivational speaking in schools. Look, I'm not trying to tell you what you
Should do with your life. I just took the long way around to say i appreciated
And am encouraged by some things you shared.
So many amazing talented kids in my city , nyc, No good guidance or leadership and being led to their demise, or being used for their talents
I went to West Virginia to visit a friend and I guess the way I carry myself there was some guys just figured I was from Baltimore Maryland Maryland and they wanted to fight me but I have to I did notice some up-and-coming communities
Up and coming in West Virginia? Which ones?
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGSprobably talking about the eastern panhandle. Its closest to Baltimore and DC. There is still a drug problem but there has been a lot of growth the past 2 decades. No coal in that area. There is higher median incomes than the rest of the state.
Love this Precious one
